ObjectiveTo investigate the influence of overtaking of liquor on the expression of caspase-3 in the mouse seminiferous tubule.MethodsAdult mice were given liquor through the stomach.The dose was 4g/kg body weight per day for 5 continuous days.Hybridization in situ was performed for detecting the caspase-3 expression in the mouse seminiferous tubule.ResultsIn the control group,there were few Caspase-3 positive cells in the mouse seminiferous tubule.In the group of five days taking liquor,the caspase-3 positive cell count increased obviously.In the group of ten days taking liquor,the caspase-3 positive cell count was maximum.ConclusionAlcohol could induce the apoptosis of spermatogenic cell.

BACKGROUND:Diabetic lower limb ischemia is prone to involve distal lower limb arteries, and a conventional treatment is often unable to obtain the ideal effect. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect and safety of umbilical cord blood stem cel transplantation in the treatment of diabetic lower limb ischemia. METHODS: A diabetic rat model of lower limb ischemia was established, and along the femoral artery, five points
were selected for injection of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cel suspension, 20 μL per point. At 1, 2, 4 weeks after transplantation, transcutaneous oxygen pressure, vascular density and vascular endothelial growth factor level in the ischemic region, and incidence of adverse reactions were recorded. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:At 1, 2 and 4 weeks after transplantation, the transcutaneous oxygen pressure, vascular density and vascular endothelial growth factor level in the ischemic region were found increasing, which were significantly different from those before transplantation (P < 0.05). At different time after transplantation, al animals had no inflammatory reactions such as skin bleeding and dermatitis, and local red, sweling, hot, pain, and had no tumor-like growth in organs. These findings indicate that umbilical cord blood stem cel transplantation can safely and significantly improve symptoms of diabetic lower limb ischemia, which has certain application feasibility. Teacher student relationship is the most important part in educational activities.It’s quality and quantity have a significant impact on educational and teaching effectiveness.This article aims to analyze the exiting status of the relationship between the tutors and the postgraduates in Peking Union Medical College Hospital, focusing on the some main factors which affect the said relationship, including education environment factor, tutor factor, postgrad-uate factor and etc., and combining the characteristics of Medical Colleges’studying.On the basis of the concerned survey, this article initially discusses the key issues during the establishment of the harmony relationship between tutors and postgraduates.

Objective To investigate the relationship between metabolic syndrome (MS) and recurrence of urolithiasis.Methods A retrospective analysis was performed in urinary stone patients from March 2008 to February 2012.Patients were divided into MS group and non-MS group according to the diagnose criteria of metabolic syndrome (2007 version) by the joint committee for developing Chinese guidelines on prevention and treatment of dyslipidemia in adults.The patients were followed up for 24-72months (median 47 months) since operation.The difference of stone recurrence was compared between the 2 groups.Results Two hundred and eighteen patients with urinary stone disease were enrolled.Of them,52 patients were diagnosed with MS.Stone recurrence occurred in 29 patients (55.8％) of MS group,whereas 66 patients (39.8％) of non-MS group suffered stone recurrence.It demonstrated the median recurrence free survival of group MS and non-MS was 36 months and 59 months by Kaplan-Meier analysis,respectively (Log-rank test,P =0.019).Multivariate Cox regression analysis results revealed that MS was significantly associated with stone recurrence (HR 1.817,95％ CI 1.105-2.988,P =0.011),however,the gender (P =0.336),age (P =0.246) and recurrence urolithiasis at first visit (P =0.051) were not associated with stone recurrence.Conclusions MS is an independent risk factor for urinary stone recurrence.It is suggested that the treatment of MS may have a important role in prevention of stone recurrence in MS patients with urolithiasis.

Objective To discuss the relationship between carotid atherosclerosis and the ischemic cerebrovascular disease(ICVD).Methods 1583 subjects with acute ICVD enrolled from June 2001 to December 2004 underwent carotid artery duplex ultrasonography.Logistic regression was performed to analyze the relationship between carotid atherosclerosis and ICVD.Results 86.5%(1369/1583)of all the patients had a varying degree of carotid atherosclerosis,in which the occurrence of the atherosclerotic plaques(1286/1583,81.2%)higher than that of stenosis of the extracranial carotid(214/1583,13.5%).There was a significant difference in the incidence of carotid atherosclerosis between patients from the TIA group(198/317,62.5%)and from the cerebral infarction group(1087/1266,85.9%).Carotid atherosclerotic plaques were most commonly seen in the bifurcations of the common carotid artery(665/1286,51.7%).The severity of stenosis of the extracranial carotid and the formation of the atherosclerotic plaques were significantly correlated to the risk factors of cerebrovascular disease.Conclusions Atherosclerotic plaques are dominant characteristics of carotid atherosclerosis in the patients with ICVD in Foshan.There is a positive correlation between carotid atherosclerosis and ICVD.

Objective To study the relationship between serum trace elements and renal cell carcinoma.Methods The serum concentrations of multi-elements in 34 patients with renal cell carcinoma and 28 healthy volunteers were determined by inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry(ICP-MS).The results were analyzed by partial least square discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) and Fisher discriminant.Results Compared with healthy voluteers,the levels of vanadium (5 034.56 ng/L:4 401.23 ng/L ),cobalt (211.34 ng/L:158.67 ng/L),nickel(l 850.55 ng/L:1 587.12 ng/L),manganese(1 873.35 ng/L:932.68 ng/L) and cadmium(95.63 ng/L:36.43 ng/L) were significantly higher in patients with renal cell carcinoma (P ＜ 0.05 ).While,the concentrations of calcium( 10.83 mg/L:11.78 mg/L) and zinc(67.11 μg/L:70.92 pg/L)were significantly lower ( P ＜ 0.05 ).Discriminant analysis showed that the serum elements levels in the patients with renal cell carcinoma were significantly different from the healthy volunteers.The scores plot showed distinct clustering between patients and controls,the points of patients were obviously offset from the controls.The classification accuracy of Fisher discriminant function was 97.61％.Conclusion Trace elements in serum are significantly different in patients with renal cell carcinoma and healthy volunteers.Discriminant analysis of serum samples based on trace element levels is possible.Thus,it is feasible for early diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma by determination of trace elements and discriminant analysis.

OBJECTIVETo explore the preventive effect of Yougui drink on femoral head necrosis in rats under micro CT.

METHODSTwenty-five SD rats were divided into steroid hormone group (group A, 10 rats ), Yougui drink group (group B,10 rats) and normal group (group C,5 rats)with random number table. Endotoxin were injected into abdominal cavity of rats in group A and B for 2 days, methylprednisolone sodium succinate were injected by gluteus for twice a week continued for 6 weeks; group B were gavaged by Yougui drink (veryday for 8 weeks; group C did not do any processing. All rats were killed on the 10th weeks,m icro CT were used to scan femoral head in vitro and preventive effect of Yougui drink (n femoral head necrosis in rats.

RESULTSThere was statistical significance in BMD, BV/TV, Tb.N, Tb, Th, Thb, Sp, BS/TV and DA but no significance in SMI between group A and B. Comparison between A and C, there was significant meaning in BMD, BV/TV, Tb.N, Tb, Th, Tb, Sp, BS/TV, DA and SMI.

CONCLUSIONYougui drink on femoral head necrosis in rats under micro CT has preventive effect from BMD BV/TV, Tb.N, Tb, Th, Tb, Sp, BS/TV and DA.

Objective To summarize the epidemiological feature of plague cases oceuwed in China.Methods The epidemiological and clinical data from 1981 to 2006 year in China were analyzed with descriptive study method.Result Nine hundred and seveneteen human plague cases were diagnosed in 9 provinces(regions) from 1981 to 2006 years,105 cases died,the mortality rate being 11.45%,and they distributed in 69 counties (cities or banners).In Qinghai Province 108 cases were diagnosed,the mortality rate was 46.30%(50/108),the cases distributed in 17 counties(cities);137 cans in Guizhou,distributing in 2 counties(cities);517 cases in Yunnan,distributing in 26 counties(cities).Plague cases peaked separately in 1983,1990,1996 and 2000 years,they were 25,75,98 and 254 separately.The principal spreading ways were breathing flying particles,touching,skinning and eating marmot in Qinghai;750 cases were of bubonic plague,among whom 4 cases in Tibet died,the fatality rate was 0.53(4/750);121 cases were of pneumonic prague,among whom 65 cases died,was accounting for 53.72%(65/121);31 cases were of septieaemic plague,and 30 cases died(one cases was cured in Inner Mongolia),accounting for 96.77%(30/31).Others were brain plague,intestinal plague,tonsil plague and plague cellulites,which were cured.Conclusion From 1990,human plague epidemical scope and intensity is enlarging continuously compared with 1980-1990 and there is a trend of going up gradually in China.

Background Serum cystatin C levels can be used to predict morbidity and mortality in patients with cardiovascular disease. However, the clinical relevance of serum cystatin C levels in patients with hypertensive left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) has rarely been investigated. We designed the present study to investigate whether serum cystatin C levels are associated with cardiac structural and functional alterations in hypertensive patients. Methods We enrolled 823 hypertensive patients and classified them into two groups:those with LVH (n=287) and those without LVH (n=536). All patients underwent echocardiography and serum cystatin C testing. We analyzed the relationship be-tween serum cystatin C levels and LVH. Results Serum cystatin C levels were higher in hypertensive patients with LVH than in those without LVH (P＜0.05). Using linear correlation analysis, we found a positive correlation between serum cystatin C levels and interven-tricular septal thickness (r=0.247, P＜0.01), posterior wall thickness (r=0.216, P＜0.01), and left ventricular weight index (r=0.347, P＜0.01). When analyzed by multiple linear regression, the positive correlations remained between serum cystatin C and interventricular septal thickness (β=0.167, P＜0.05), posterior wall thickness (β=0.187, P＜0.05), and left ventricular weight index (β=0.245, P＜0.01). Con-clusion Serum cystatin C concentration is an independent marker for hypertensive LVH.
