ObjectiveTo study the influence of preoperative transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE) on liver resection in patients with resectable hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).MethodsTACE was performed before liver resection in 62 out of 126 patients, and perioperative risk factors were compared with that of the 64 patients without TACE including liver perioperative function alterations, average blood loss during operation, the average time of clamping porta hepatis and operation, abdominal drainage at 1-, 2-, and 3-days post-op, mortality and morbidity. ResultsThere was not significant difference in liver function alteration in the two groups, there was no mortality in the two groups. Liver cirrhosis in TACE group was more serious than that in no TACE group, the operation time was longer in TACE group. Blood loss, and abdominal drainage were much more in TACE group than in no TACE group. However postoperative complications did not differ. Conclusion Preoperative TACE for resectable HCC increases surgical difficulty and risk. Preoperative TACE for resectable HCC needs to be used on baseis of strict selection.

Objective To study the value of B type ultrasonography guiding percutaneous radiofrequency ablation (PRFA) for hepatic cancer (HC). Methods 70 patients with primary or metastatic hepatic malignancies were treated by PRFA under ultrasound guidance through LeVeen multipolar array needle electrode and RF 2000. All patients were followed up by turnor marker, B type sounography and MRI monthly. Results PRFA were performed in 53 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and 17 cases with metastatic liver cancer. Liver function classfication was 53 cases in Child class A, 15 in class B and 2 in class C. In 21 patients with non-operated small HCC (≤5 cm), 12 of 17 patients with AFP positive were decreased to normal (70.6%) and decreased markedly in 4 (23.5%), and MRI showed the treated tumors were completely necrosis in 16 patients (76.2%). The 3, 6 month survival rates were 90.5%, 100% respectively in small HC groups, and 66.7% to 72.7% and 27.6% to 72.7% in large HC groups. Conclusions PRFA as a local thermal therapy is becoming a kind of new palliative treatment for hepatic malignancies, which not only is safe, minimally invasive, and effective for small ones; but also can be used with combination of TACE for larger ones.

Objective To investigate circulating betatrophin levels in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease patients (NAFLD). To explore its association with various metabolic parameters in Chinese subjects. Methods From August 2014 to April 2015 , 58 patients with NAFLD and 41 non-NAFLD control subjects with age and sex matched were enrolled in the Department of Endocrinology of Zhujiang Hospital. Results In NAFLD group, serum betatrophin concentrations significantly increased (781.96 vs. 431.89 pg/mL, P < 0.05) and associated only with HDL-cholesterol level. In normal group, betetrophin levels are associated with multiple metabolic parameters, such as fasting glucose, insulin, C peptide, HOMA-IR, QUICK index and HDL-C levels. Conclusions Serum betatrophin concentration significantly elevated in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease patients and was negatively correlated with HDL-C level (r = -0.479, P < 0.001).

Journal of Chinese Physician 2011;13(7):895-899
Objectives To evaluate the effect of N-Acetylcysteine on the airway inflammation and remodeling of obese asthma mice with high-fat diets. Methods Forty female C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 4 groups, asthma group (A), obese asthma group (B), treatment group (C) and normal control group (D). Group A were sensitized and challenged by ovalbum (OVA) and normal diets. Group B were sensitized and challenged as group A but fed with high-fat diets, while group C were sensitized, challenged and fed as group B, but administrated N-Acetylcysteine 200 mg/kg. d from the third week after challenge. The cells in BALF were counted and classified after staining, IL-6 and 8-iso-PGF2α(8-iso-PGF2α) in lung tissues were detected by ELISA. WAt, WAm, Pbm, as the remodeling indices, measured in lung pathological section. All parameters were compared among 4 groups. Results In comparison with group D, the leukocytes and EOS in BALF, WAt/Pbm, WAm/Pbm in lung section were increased as well as IL-6 and 8-iso-PGF2α in lung tissue elevated in group A and group B, while the maximum changes were observed in group B (P <0. 05). After NAC treatment, the IL-6, 8-iso-PGF2α and WAt/ Pbm were decreased significantly (P <0. 05). Pearson correlation analysis showed that WAt/Pbm and IL-6 were in positive correlation with 8-iso-PGF2α (r =0. 817, 0. 737, P <0. 01). Conclusions N-Acetylcysteine can alleviate the airway inflammation and remodel reaction of asthma by a substantial inhibition of the oxidative stress reaction in lung.

Aim To investigate the role of chemokine-like factor 1 ( CKLF1 ) in SH-SY5 Y cell migration and its molecular regulatory mechanism. Methods SH-SY5Y cells were stimulated with CKLF1 for 0. 5 h, 2 h, 8 h and 24 h, respectively. The migration distance and the percentage of migration cells were recorded by CELLocate analysis. The phosphorylation of focal ad-hesion kinase ( FAK) at Tyr-397 site was detected by Western blot analysis. By chemotaxis assays, we con-firmed the chemotaxis of CKLF1. Furthermore, FAK inhibitor PF-573228 and PLCγ inhibitor U73122 were used for the research of molecular regulatory mecha-nisms involved. Results CKLF1 promoted cell migra-tion and induced a strong increase in the phosphoryla-tion level of FAK-pY397 , which were significantly at-tenuated by the presence of U73122 ( a specific inhibi-tor for PLCγ) . In addition, the chemotaxis of CKLF1 was obviously blocked by the FAK inhibitor PF-573228 . Conclusion CKLF1 induces SH-SY5 Y cell migration via PLCγ/FAK signaling pathway.
