OBJECTIVETo evaluate the technique and the clinical effect of folding roof and rotary pushing in treatment of children with distal radius and ulna fracture of "back to back".
METHODSFrom January 2012 to February 2014,38 children with distal radius and ulna fracture of "back to back" were treated by using the technique of folding roof and rotary pushing to reset and splint fixation including 23 males and 15 females with an average age of 9.5 years old ranging from 6 to 14 years old. Injury time was from 45 min to 3 days (averaged 1.3 days). All cases was unilateral closed fracture without symptoms of nerve injury occurred. The wrist joint anteroposterior and lateral radiographs showed double fracture of radius and ulna, and the broken end of radius was typical "back to back" displacement. The quality of reduction was assessed according to Dienst recommendation on the combination of Aro measurement, and the therapeutic effect was evaluated using standard of Anderson function.
RESULTSAll patients were followed up from 3 to 13 months with an average of 6 months. There were no iatrogenic nerve injury. Thirty cases were treated successfully for the first time, 8 cases were again reset successfully; 28 cases were anatomical reduction, 7 cases were near anatomic reduction, 3 cases were functional reduction. At the second day 7 cases with hand and finger swelling appeared in multiple reset patients. Quality results of reduction were excellent in 33 cases, good in 5 cases. According to the standard of Anderson function evaluation, 35 cases were excellent, 3 cases were good. All fractures were healed with of deformity of wrist.
CONCLUSIONUsing the technique of folding roof and rotary pushing in treatment of children with distal radius and ulna fracture of "back to back" is very successful, the patient's limb function recovered well, the whole operation process is simple.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the advantages of using the preoperative computer-aided design system (CAD) in total hip replacement (THR).
METHODSFrom March 2002 to September 2005, 182 patients who underwent primary THR were screened and divided into 2 groups randomly. CAD and traditional preoperative templating were used in preoperative planning respectively.
RESULTSIn group using CAD, the migration of the center of acetabulum was smaller, and the discrepancy of the limb length and the abductor force lever arm were fewer. All the differences above were significantly different.
CONCLUSIONSCAD helps remove much of the guesswork during surgery, and the implant can be more precise fitting to the patient. And equal limb lengths and balanced abductor force can be restored more accurately.

OBJECTIVETo explore the adjunctive therapeutic effects of acupuncture for leukopenia induced by chemotherapy. METHODS Eighty six cases with leukopenia after chemotherapy treatment were randomly divided into a granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) plus acupuncture (A) group and a G-CSF group, 43 cases in each group. After chemotherapy treatments, the patients of both groups were treated with G-CSF for 4 times, with acupuncture at Zhigou (TE 6), Quchi (LI 11), Hegu (LI 4), etc. added in the G-CSF plus A group, for an observaion cycle of 45 days. Their therapeutic effects on the 10th and 31st day and peripheral white blood cell (WBC) counts and neutrophilic granulocyte classification on the 10th, 17th, 24th, 45th day after treatment were compared.
RESULTSAfter they were treated on the 10th day, the effective rates were both 100.0% (both 43/43), and on the 31st day, the effective rate of 98.9% (42/43) in the G-CSF plus A group was higher than 91.1% (35/43) in the G-CSF group (P < 0.05). The WBC counts in the G-CSF plus acupuncture group were both higher than those in the G-CSF group on the 10th, 17th and 24th day after treatment (all P < 0.05). The ratios of mature neutrophilic granulocyte in the G-CSF plus A group were all higher than those in the G-CSF group at the same time (all P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONAcupuncture can increase the therapeutic effect of G-CSF, delay the decrease of WBC after discontinuing G-CSF, promote the neutrophilic granulocyte differentiating forward to mature and it is better for improving leukopenia induced by chemotherapy.

Journal of Medical Biomechanics 2010;25(5):E369-E374
Objective To evaluate the static viscoelastic properties of the porous gradient UHMWPE material by the creep, stress relaxation and creep recovery tests. Method The porous gradient UHMWPE material was prepared by the template leaching (T-L) method. The porous structure was characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and the porosity and pore distribution of porous layer were measured by a pressure mercury analyzer. The creep, stress relaxation and creep recovery properties were tested by the experimental determination of flat indentation. Results The porous layer of T-L UHMWPE was well bonded with the substrate material. With the increase of NaCl content, the porosity and pore size distribution scope improved clearly. Creep deformation and modulus presented a nonlinear increase with time and the stress and modulus of stress relaxation showed a nonlinear decrease with time. The buffering capacity for impact loads of porous gradient UHMWPE was significantly higher than the compact UHMWPE. Experimental results showed that the creep recovery properties of the reasonable porosity of U50 and U60 samples were almost similar to the compact UHMWPE material. But the higher porosity caused the increase of the plastic deformation. Conclusions The porous structure of UHMWPE effectively increased the elastic property and strain response sensitivity, which may be beneficial to improve the lubrication of frictional contact surfaces and reduce the wear of artificial joints.
