Objective To observe the effects of vitamin C (VC) and E (VE) on the uhrastrueture of liver, kidney and brain tissue of fluorosis rats. Methods One hundred and twenty Wistar rats were chosen as the experimental animals and were divided into 9 groups randomly. The control group were given distilled water and the fluoride exposed group were given distilled water containing sodium fluoride 150 mg/L. The throe VC-fluoride exposed groups were given VC orally in a dose of 50,100,150 mg·kg-1.d-1, respectively, and the three VE-fluoride exposed groups were given VE of 25,50,75 mg·kg-1·d-1, respectively. The VC-VE-fluoride exposed group were given VC of 100 mg·kg-1·d-1and VE of 50 mg·kg-1·d-1at the same time of high fluoride water intake. The rats were sacrificed after 9 months and the ultrastructure changes on liver, kidney and brain tissues of each group were observed under transmission electron microscope(TEM). Results The uhrastrueture of liver, kidney and brain showed pathologic changes in the rats that drank water containing high eoneentrations of sodium fluoride. ①Edema of hepatocytes, smeared mitochontria and nuclear matrix, lipid droplet in eytoplasm of hepatocytes, margination of nueleohs as well as obvious swelling of liver sinusoidal endothelial were observed in fluoride exposed group. ② There were marginafion of heterochromatin, expansion of cell space and endoplasmic reticulum in the kidney after the exposure to excess fluoride.③Signifieant changes were found on glial eells on the brain, including cell swelling, increase and marginafion of heterochromatin in the fluoride exposure group. There were no significant uhrastrueture changes in the VC or VE intervention group, while the VC-VE-fluoride exposure group was almost the same as the control group. Conclusions Fluoresis may cause damage on liver, kidney and brain in rats. VC and VE, alone or combined, have protective effects, and the combined supplementation was stronger than single supplementations.

[ABSTRACT]OBJECTIVETo compare the differences of aerodynamic characteristics of pharyngeal cavity between normal subjects and OSAHS patients, and to study the nasal obstruction in the pathogenesis of the OSAHS.METHODSA total of 60 normal subjects and 60 OSAHS patients were enrolled in this study. Numerical simulation was performed to calculate the airflow dynamic indexes of three sections of pharyngeal cavity. Correlation analysis of the nasal resistance and negative pressure were studied.RESULTSThe average pharyngeal negative pressure and airflow velocity in OSAHS patients were significantly increased than that in normal subjects. The total nasal airway resistance significantly correlated with the average negative pressure of pharyngeal cavity. CONCLUSIONAirflow dynamic indexes of OSAHS patients had significant different pharyngeal aerodynamic characteristics from normal subjects. The increased average negative pressure in pharynx might contribute to the severity of pharyngeal collapse for OSAHS patients. Higher total nasal resistance might play a role in the pathophysiological mechanisms of OSAHS.
4. Research progress on esophageal stents for children
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2019;39(1):99-101
Currently, benign esophageal stricture is a common clinical esophageal disease in children, and its common treatment is balloon dilatation. According to the complexity of the lesion, the child often suffers from multiple esophageal dilation. Besides, esophageal stent provides a new choice for the treatment of esophageal stricture in children because of the long-lasting support. However, the complications limit its clinical application, such as chest pain, restenosis, and stent displacement. This article reviewed the current research and clinical application of esophageal stents for children.

[ABSTRACT]OBJECTIVETo evaluate the curative effect of endoscopic sinus surgery from the viewpoint of biomechanics analysis.METHODSWe select one case undergoing nasal endoscopic surgery for chronic sinusitis patients, after half year follow-up and collect preoperative and postoperative spiral CT data to build a numerical model of nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses with computer numerical simulation (CFD) research methods, to explore nasal airflow distribution and flow field characteristics of value changes before and after the operation. Patients undergo subjective assessments: nasal obstruction of VAS score, olfactory VAS score, SNOT-20, objective assessment: Lund Kennedy score, Lund Mackay score, saccharin test time and acquisition clinical efficacy data to verify the credibility of the analysis method is feasible and the results. RESULTSThe nasal resistance after endoscopic sinus surgery in nasal cavity and paranasal sinuses numerical simulation decreased, middle meatus of nose and nasal air flow velocity decreased, the pressure change slightly;nasal threshold region, middle turbinate head end section in maxillary sinus ostium section, after nearly sieve horizontal cross-section average velocity decreased, nasal airflow for the mucosa of the shear stress reduced. The volume of the nasal cavity and the area of the mucosa was increased, the volume ratio was decreased, the subjective and subjective assessment of the patients was improved, and the objective assessment was lighten.CONCLUSIONAerodynamic rules are presented through the calculation of numerical simulation of fluid mechanics which is invisible before. Better understanding of changes in the nasal airflow distribution and the changes of flow field characteristics can be useful to establish nasal endoscopic surgery in numerical analysis of offshore platform, which provides a new research tool for the understanding of the pathophysiology of chronic sinusitis by endoscopic sinus surgery.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of ANGPTL4 gene silencing on the migration of human colon cancer cells in vitro.
METHODSThe expression of ANGPTL4 in human colorectal cancer cell lines was detected by semi-quantitative RT-PCR. Following stable transfection with a short-hairpin RNA (shRNA) targeting ANGPTL4 gene in HT29 cells, ANGPTL4 mRNA and protein expressions were detected by semi-quantitative RT-PCR and direct ELISA, respectively, and the changes in cell migration ability and cell morphology were observed with transwell and immunofluorescence assays.
RESULTSANGPTL4 was expressed in most of the colorectal cancer cell lines. Compared with the control groups, HT29 cells with shRNA-mediated ANGPTL4 gene silencing showed significantly decreased expression of ANGPTL4 mRNA and protein (P<0.05) and lowered cell migration ability possibly due to decreased pseudopodia formation.
CONCLUSIONANGPTL4 was expressed in most colorectal cancer cell lines. Decreased ANGPTL4 gene expression can inhibit the cell migration and pseudopodia formation in HT29 cells.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-kgr;B) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) in lung tissue of acute paraquat poisoned rats.
METHODS68 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 2 groups: the control group (n = 8), the intoxication group (n = 60). On the 1st, the 3rd, the 7th, the 14th and the 28th day after intoxication, the expression of NF-κB p65 and TNF-α in lung tissue were detected by LSAB immunohistochemistry (IH) staining. Meanwhile, the level of malondialdehyde (MDA) in plasma, and lung homogenate, the content of malondialdehyde (HPY) in lung homogenate were detected.
RESULTSThe levels of MDA in plasma on the 1st, the 3rd, the 7th day and in lung homogenate on the 1st, the 3rd day of the intoxication group [in plasma: (10.15 ± 3.15), (6.97 ± 1.65) and (5.44 ± 0.66) nmol/ml; in lung homogenate: (10.20 ± 2.43), (10.71 ± 171) nmol/ml] were significantly higher than that of the control group [in plasma: (3.84 ± 1.04) nmol/ml, in lung homogenate: (7.66 ± 0.66) nmol/ml]. The content of HPY in lung homogenate on the 14th and the 28th day after intoxication [(19.98 ± 2.86), (26.06 ± 4.06) µg/0.1 g lung homogenate] were higher than that of the control group [(8.80 ± 1.26) µg/0.1 g lung homogenate] significantly. The expression of NF-κB p65 and TNF-α in lung tissue were both significantly increased on the first day and the 3rd day of the intoxication group compared with the control group and weakened obviously after the 7th day.
CONCLUSIONAcute paraquat poisoning can induce increased expression of both NF-κB p65 and TNF-α in lung tissue; the enhanced activity of NF-κB may take part in the process of pulmonary injury in PQ poisoning.
