Objective To improve the biocompatibility of the metallic stent used for interventional treatment. Methods Inner coatings, outer coatings and micro-porous coatings were made using the solution-injection method, and salt crystallite with demanded size was added in order to develop micro-porous coatings. Results The optical concentrations of polyurethane solution and of salt crystallite (for micro-porous coatings) were obtained, and the corresponding processes were developed. Conclusion The poly-coated stent retains its elasticity, and it become very convenient to develop stents carrying drugs. Its effects on animals ard under test.

Aim To study the effect of simvastatin on ventricular remodeling in rats after myocardial infarction,and the association between this effect and phosphorylating extracellular signal-regulated kinase1/2(p-ERK1/2).Methods Myocardial infarction(MI)rat models were successfully induced by ligation of anterior descending coronary artery.The treated rats were randomly divided into 4 groups(n=8~10):MI only group,MI plus 20 mg Sim group(20 mg?kg-1?d-1),MI plus 40 mg Sim group(40 mg?kg-1?d-1),and sham-operated group.After 4 weeks,the rats were checked by echocardiography including LVEDd,LVPWd,LVEF,FS,SV and CO.Myocardial p-ERK1/2 was also examined by immunohistochemistry and Western blot.Results Compared with sham-operated group,LVEDd,LVPWd in other groups were significantly increased(P

AIM: To determine the effect of suction duration on thickness and diameter of corneal flap created by microkeratome in porcine eyes in laser in situ kerato-mileusis (LASIK).METHODS: Sixty porcine eyes were randomly assigned to three groups according to different suction durations: group 1 (10 seconds), group 2 (20 seconds), and group 3 (30 seconds). A Moria M2 microkeratome (Moria, France) with a 160μm head was used to create a corneal flap. Corneal flap thickness was measured by automated ultrasonic pachymetry, and the flap diameter was measured by a vernier caliper.RESULTS: The flap thickness of group 1, group 2 and group 3 was 146.05±13.46μm, 157.35±18.95μm and 169.25±21.02μm, respectively. There was a statistically significant difference among three groups (P=0.001). The mean flap diameter in groups 1, 2 and 3 was 8.63±0.19mm, 8.89±0.24mm and 9.06±0.18mm, respectively. A statisti-cally significant difference was found among groups (P<0.01).CONCLUSION: In LASIK in porcine eyes, an increase in suction duration resulted in a thicker and greater flap.

Objective To elucidate the effect of Deduhonghua-7 powder and its main components on liver fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride(CCl4)by regulating chemokine receptor 1(CCR1)and DNA methyltransferase 1(DNMT1).Methods C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into blank group,model group,Deduhonghua-7 powder group(0.75 g·kg-1 Deduhonghua-7 powder),Scabiosa Atropurea group(0.75 g·kg-1 Scabiosa Atropurea)and Luteolin-L,-H groups(0.02 and 0.04 g·kg-1 Luteolin,respectively).Except the blank group,the other groups were intrabitoneally injected with 10％CC14 olive oil solution to establish liver fibrosis model,and all groups were given 0.5％CMC-Na dissolved intragastric drug once a day for 4 weeks,and blood and liver tissues were collected after the last administration.The serum CCR1,DNMT1,α-smooth muscle actin(α-smA)and precollagen Ⅲ contents were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay;the CCR1,DNMT1,α-smA,Collagen Ⅰprotein expression were detected by Western blot.Result The contents of serum DNMT1 in blank group,model group,Deduhonghua-7 powder group,Luteotin-L,-H groups and Scabiosa Atropurea group were(4.56±0.69),(6.09±0.59),(5.21±0.33),(4.99±0.68),(5.03±0.45)and(5.17±0.61)pg·mL-1;the contents of CCR1 were(13.38±0.47),(11.20±0.73),(12.97±0.80),(12.89±0.75)(12.88±0.95)and(12.92±0.58)pg·mL-1;the contents of α-smA were(181.80±24.50),(281.30±26.60),(220.90±22.30),(193.70±16.10),(199.30±17.70)and(205.80±14.70)pg·mL-1;the contents of procollagen Ⅲ were(49.29±8.26),(77.56±8.61),(67.56±5.63),(55.47±7.07),(64.93±8.66)and(59.66±8.51)pg·mL-1;the relative expression levels of DNMT1 protein in liver tissues were 0.08±0.03,0.26±0.08,0.13±0.01,0.12±0.05,0.13±0.05 and 0.15±0.03;the CCR1 protein relative expression levels were 0.18±0.03,0.13±0.02,0.21±0.06,0.22±0.07,0.17±0.07 and 0.18±0.06;the α-smA protein relative expression levels were 0.03±0.01,0.27±0.11,0.09±0.05,0.12±0.08,0.09±0.07 and 0.11±0.07;the expression of Colagen Ⅰ protein were 0.09±0.04,0.65±0.22,0.28±0.12,0.26±0.19,0.30±0.22 and 0.25±0.12.The differences of above indicators between the model group and the blank group,between the Deduhonghua-7 powder group,Luteotin-L,-H groups,Scabiosa Atropurea group and the model group were statistically significant(all P＜0.05).Conclusion Luteotein is one of the pharmacodynamic substance bases of Deduhonghua-7 powder to alleviate liver fibrosis induced by CC14.It can inhibit or delay the formation of liver fibrosis through CCR1,DNMT1,α-smA and Collagen Ⅰ proteins.

Objective To compare the outcomes of percutaneous pedicle instrumentation combined with vertebral augmentation or vertebra pedicle instrumentation for treatment of osteoporotic thoracolumbar fractures (OVCF) in elderly patients.Methods A retrospective case cohort study was conducted on 62 patients with OVCF manifesting non-neurological symptoms treated from January 2009 to January 2012.There were 22 males and 30 females,with a mean age of 61.3 years (range,55 to 70 years).Fracture level was T11 in 8 patients,T12in 20,L1 in 22 and L2 in 12.Treatments included percutaneous pedicle instrumentation combined with vertebral fracture fixation in 36 patients (Group A) and percutaneous pedicle instrumentation combined with vertebral augmentation in 26 patients (Group B).Operation time,intraoperative blood loss,anterior vertebral body height,sagittal Cobb angle and visual analogue score (VAS) were compared between the two groups.Results All patients were followed up for average 46.5 months (range,36 to 58 months).Operation time in Group A [(82.6 ±16.2) min] was shorter than that in Group B [(96.8 ± 20.6) min] (P ＜ 0.05).Blood loss in Group B [(40.5 ± 10.2) ml] was less than that in Group A [(52.2 ± 15.5) ml] (P ＜ 0.05).Before operation and 3 days and 1 year after operation,the anterior vertebral body height and sagittal Cobb angle in Group A showed no significant differences compared to Group B (all P ＞ 0.05).At the final follow-up,the ratio of anterior vertebral height and Cobb angle in Group B [(87.8 ± 2.5) ％,(7.8 ± 3.5) °] were better than these in Group A [(82.6 ±3.2)％,(9.1 ± 1.8)°] (P＜0.05).VAS showed no statistical significance between the two groups before and after operation (P ＞ 0.05).Bone cement leakage was seen in four patients in Group B.During the perioperative period,there were 3 patients with lung infection in Group A and 1 patient with lower limb deep vein thrombosis in Group B.No implant failure occurred in both groups.Conclusion Both procedures are effective in treating elderly patients with OVCF,but percutaneous pedicle instrumentation combined with vertebral augmentation is associated with better results in maintaining vertebral height and preventing kyphosis.

Objective To analyze C4d deposition in the patients with late acute renal allograft rejection,and explore the role of C4d in grafts survival and grafts loss. Methods Thirty-six patients clinical and pathologically diagnosed as having acute rejection more than one year post-transplant were selected. C4d was detected by immunohistochemistry in renal allograft biopsies. The effect of C4d deposition on long-term graft survival was studied. Results Among 36 recipients with late acute renal allograft rejection, 16 cases were positive for C4d (44.4 %) and 20 negative for C4d (55.6 %). Five cases experienced graft loss in C4d positive group (31.3 %), while 6 cases in C4d negative group (30.0%). There was no significant difference in the graft loss rate between C4d-positive group and C4d-negative group. Log-Rank test demonstrated there was no significant difference in graft survival between C4d-positive group and C4d-negative group. The count of the interstitial infiltrated eosinophils in renal allograft was (9.4 + 4.5) and (2.6 + 1.8) respectively in the C4d-positive group and C4dnegative group (P＜0.05). Conclusion C4d deposition in peritubular capillary of the recipients with late acute renal allograft rejection might not be a prognostic marker for graft outcome.

Objective To describe the clinical features and imaging characteristics of nodular splenic sarcoidosis. Methods We describe a patient with splenic sarcoidosis and review the related medical literature, the etiology, symptomatology, pathology, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, management and prognosis of splenic sarcoidosis. Results The etiology of this rare disease remains unknown. Symptoms are scanty and usually mild; computed tomography usually reveals splenomegaly or the presence of multiple nodules, confusing with metastatic tumor in spleen. On histopathologic examination, sarcoid produces noncaseating granulomas. Sarcoid is typically treated only when symptomatic. Oral corticosteroids is the most important method of treatment in patients with progressive loss of organ functions. Prognosis has closed relationship with early clinical manifestation. Conclusion Splenic sarcoidosis is rare and often misdiagnosis as other diseases.

Objective To investigate the short-term acute rejection incidence of the recipients under the steroid-free immunosuppressive therapy after liver transplantation. Methods This retrospective study included 186 patients who were divided into two groups by random number table.The patients in no steroid group (the study group, n =94) received tacrolimus (Tac) with mycophemolate mofetil (MMF) or cyclosporine with MMF,and those in the steroid group (the control group,n =92) received the aforementioned immunosuppressive therapy combined with steroids.The acute rejection incidence was analyzed during six months post-transplantation.Results There was no significant difference in the gender,age,indication for transplantation,Child-Pugh score,MELD score,operating time,bleeding and transfusion volume during the operation,warm ischemia time and cold ischemia time between the two groups (P＞0.05).Liver biopsy was done on 9 cases of each group.The acute rejection incidence had no significant difference between the study group and the control group (5/94 vs 4/92,5.3％ vs 4.4％,P＞0.05).Conclusion The steroid-free immunosuppressive therapy after liver transplantation did not increase the short term acute rejection incidence.

ObjectiveTo investigate the expression and significance of CD28- cells, CD4+ and CD8+T lymphocytes in the peripheral blood and synovial fluid in patients with rheumatoid arthritis ( RA ). Methods The expression of CD28, CD4+, CD8+ T lymphocytes and inducible co-stimulator(ICOS) in the peripheral blood and synovial fluid in 45 patients with RA were detected by three-color flow cytometry. Independent sample's t test was used for statistical analysis between the two groups. ResultsSynovial fluid CD4+CD28+ICOS+, CD4+CD28- ICOS+ , CD8 + CD28 + , CD8 + CD28 + 1COS+ T lymphocytes were significantly increased than the peripheral blood in RA patients[(36±19)％ vs (15±8)％, t=-4.234, P＜0.01; (2.1±2.2)％ vs (0.6±1.4)％, t=-3.143, P＜0.01; (62±15)％ vs (47±18)％, t=-2.885, P＜0.01; (9±9)％ vs (3±3)％,t=-2.131, P＜0.05], Synovial fluid CD8+CD28-T lymphoc-ytes were significantly reduced than the peripheral blood[(38±15)％ vs (54±18)％, t=2.975, P＜0.01], Synovial fluid CD8+ CD28-ICOS+, CD4+CD28+and CD4+ CD28- T lymphocytes had no significant difference than the peripheral blood (P＞0.05). Compared with peripheral blood in the same patients with RA, CD4+CD28+ ICOS+, CD8+ CD28+ T lymphocyteswere significantly increased[(38±18)％ vs (16±10)％, t=-4.065, P＜0.01 ; (61±16)％ vs (41±21)％, t=-4.065,P＜0.01], CD8+CD28-T was significantly reduced[(39±16)％ vs (59±21)％, t=2.949, P＜0.01]. The level of CD4+ CD28-, CD8+ CD28-, CD28-ICOS+ T lymphocytes in the active and remission patients with RA was not significantly different (P＞0.05). ConclusionSynovial fluid CD28T lymphocyte subsets disturbance and the abnormal expression of ICOS in patients with RA may play important roles in the mechanism of joint damage.
