Objectives To summarize and analyze the characteristics ofspina bifida occulta in prenatal ultrasound scan in order to improve the accuracy of diagnosis. Methods Sixteen singleton pregnant women with fetal spina bifida occulta who were diagnosed in the Ultrasonography Department of Dalian Maternal and Child Health Hospital from January 2014 to April 2015,were enrolled in this study.Diagnosis was made based upon the abnormalities found in the spinal column of fetus during routine ultrasound scan, followed by a close examination on the fetal spinal column and the position of conus medullaris by using multiple scan.Descriptive analysis was used to summarize the characteristics of spina bifida occulta in ultrasonic images. Results Among the 16 cases,12 had subcutaneous mass (nine cases had follicle-like anechoic mass and three cases had masses with strong echoes). The other four cases without subcutaneous mass manifested signs of disappeared physiological curvatures or disordered arrangement of spinal column, angulation deformity or scoliosis,or asymmetry in ossification centers of spinal column on both sides of lesions and lowered position of conus medullaris.Lemon shaped head and banana shaped cerebellum were seen in one case, while the other 15 cases were found no cerebral abnormalities.Eight cases had tethered cord (the position of conus medullaris was lower than the second lumber vertebra),six cases had unclear position of conus medullaris and the other two were normal.Diagnoses for all of the 16 cases were confirmed by MRI after delivery or autopsy or neonatal operation. Conclusions Abnormalities such as subcutaneous mass and tethered cord observed in prenatal ultrasound scan are significant indicators for suspected closed spinal dysraphism and further multiple scan is required to confirm the diagnosis.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(03):-
Eight parameters about iron nutrition were observed longitudinally in eighty pregnant women from the first trimester to delivery. Their nutrients intake were recorded at the same time. It was noted that serum iron store (ferritin) decreased markedly in the course of pregnancy and the incidence of iron deficiency increased. Total iron intake was closely related to the variation of these parameters, the degree of iron deficiency in pregnant women and the content of cord ferritin. Iron in maternal serum is correlated to ferritin in the cord blood. It suggested that natural food abundant in iron, or food fortified with iron should be taken in early pregnancy to prevent iron deficiency of mothers.

Objective:To explore how coping style and social support influence the quality of life in patients with impaired glucose tolerance, which act respectively as the internal and external mediating ways. Methods:A total of 283 patients with impaired glucose tolerance from 6 Three-A hospitals in China were surveyed with self-rating anxiety scale, self-rating depression scale, trait coping style questionnaire, social support scale, and WHOQOL-BREF.
Results:Biographic data failed to predict the quality of life in patients with impaired glucose tolerance, while anxiety, depression, social support and coping style significantly influenced their quality of life.
Conclusion:The fact that emotional disorder, social support and coping style influence the quality of life in patients with type 2 diabetes also exists in patients with impaired glucose tolerance.

Objective To investigate the radiation-induced esophageal toxicities in Ⅲ stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) treated by three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT) combined with concurrent chemotherapy, and to find the relevant predictive factors. Methods From September 2006 to October 2007, 37 patients with stage Ⅲ NSCLC were treated by 3 DCRT (60 Gy in 30-34 fractions) con-currently with navelbine and cisplatin (NP). Chemotherapy was given in the first and fifth week. Univariate and multivariate analyses and receiver operating characteristic curves (ROC) were used to assess the associ-ation of radiation-induced esophagitis and correlated factors. Results Of all the patients, 91.89% (34/37) developed radiation-induced esophagitis, including grade 1 in 11 patients, grade 2 in 9, grade 3 in 14 and grade 4 in none. According to Spearman correlative analysis, the correlative factors included mean esophagus dose (MED), the LETT_(40)、LETT_(45)、LETT_(50)、LETT_(55)、LETT_60)of esophagus. All the 11 factors had good correlation with esophagitis in univariate analysis, while only V_55 was independ-ently associated with esophagitis in multivariate analysis. The ROC analysis indicated that the cut-off point of the curve was 30% with the area under ROC curve of 0.906, (P=0.000). Grade 2 or 3 radiation esophagi-tis occurred in all the patients with esophageal V_55 > 30%, while only in 36% ( 8/22 ) of those with V_55<30%. Conclusions 3DCRT combined with concurrent chemotherapy in patients with stage Ⅲ NSCLC could develop severe esophagitis. Dosimetric parameters (MED, LETT_(40),LETT_(45),LETT_(50),LETT_(55),LETT_(60),V_(40),V_(45),V_50,V_55,V_(60))are related with esophagitis,V_55 with V_55 > 30% being the most valuable predictor.

Purpose To investigate the expression of DLC1 and its relationship with Ki-67 in cancerous and non-cancerous tissues of the breast. Methods In situ hybridization and immunohistochemiscal EnVision method were used to detect the expression of DLC1 mRNA and protein and Ki-67 in 52 invasive breast ductal carcinomas and 42 non-cancerous mammary tissues, including 22 mammary fibroadenomas and 20 paracancerous tissues. Results The positive rates of DLC1 mRNA and protein expression in the breast carcinomas (50% and 57.7%) was significantly lower than that in the non-cancerous mammary tissues (90.5% and 92.9%) (χ~2=17.518 and 10.729,P<0.01).The expression of DLC1-mRNA was positively related to DLC1protein (r_s=0.379,P<0.01). The positive rate of Ki-67 expression was 61.5% in the breast carcinomas, but no expression was observed in the all non-cancerous tissues (χ~2=39.186,P<0.01).Correlation analysis showed that DLC1 expression was negatively correlated with Ki-67 expression (r_s=-0.507,P<0.01).Conclusions Lower or no expression of DLC1 mRNA and protein may play an important role in the pathogenesis and progression in breast carcinoma. DLC1 may inhibit the proliferation of the breast carcinoma cells, which indicates that it may act as a new molecular marker of breast carcinoma.Combining detection of DLC1 and Ki-67 may be useful parameters for evaluating the biological behaviors of breast carcinoma.

Objective To evaluate the clinical value of 131 Ⅰ SPECT/CT in the differentiation of indeterminate 131Ⅰ uptake on planer whole body scan (WBS) for patients with DTC after 131Ⅰ treatment. Methods Fifty-six DTC patients ( male: 19, female: 37, mean age: 45 ± 15 years, ranging from 20 to 85 years) underwent 131Ⅰ treatment. 131Ⅰ WBS was performed five days after 131 Ⅰ treatment, followed by regional 131Ⅰ SPECT/CT for the indeterminate foci with abnormal uptake on 131Ⅰ WBS. The diagnostic difference of the two imaging modalities was compared by x2 test. Results There were 288 foci with abnormal uptake on 131 Ⅰ WBS, including 108 indeterminate foci (37.5%). Subsequent 131Ⅰ SPECT/CT identified 27 foci as DTC metastases (25.0%) and 71 foci as non-metastases such as benign lesions at nose, oral cavity, salivary gland, maxillary cyst, thyroid remnant, thymus, gallbladder, gastrointestinal tract, and uterus, or non-specific uptake of body contaminations (65.7%). However, the remaining 10 foci (9.3%) remained indeterminate on 131 Ⅰ SPECT/CT imaging. The diagnostic accuracy of 131 Ⅰ SPECT/CT was significantly higher than that of 131Ⅰ WBS (x2 = 102.35, P<0. 01). Conclusion 131Ⅰ SPECT/CT could significantly improve the diagnostic accuracy for the differentiation of indeterminate foci with abnormal uptake on 131Ⅰ WBS.

Journal of Third Military Medical University 2003;0(20):-
Objective To assess the toxicity risks of diphenylchlorarsine (DA) to environments, human beings and livestock. Methods Totally 120 mice were randomly divided into 6 groups and given DA by gastric gavage at the doses of 32, 30, 28, 26, 24, 22 mg/kg respectively for LD_(50) of DA in mice. The toxicity of DA in rat skin were evaluated by smearing 50 ?l DA at the concentrations of 140, 70, 35, 17.5, and 8.8 mg/ml to an area of 4 cm2, and that of eyes exposure was carried out by dropping 10 ?l DA of 140.7, 70, 7, 0.7 mg/ml in rat eyes. The counterpart skin area and eyes served as control. Results LD_(50) of DA in mice was 28.07 mg/kg, the estimated doses for no-observed-adverse-effect levels (NOELs) were 8.8 mg/ml (0.44 mg) to the skin and 0.7 mg/ml (0.014 mg) to the eyes respectively. Conclusion DA can induce the injuries on the liver, kidneys, esophagus and stomach. High concentration of DA can cause inflammation of the skin and lens opacification, even blind.
