Objective To study the diagnosis and treatment of ureteral obstruction caused by endometriosis. Methods Out of 23 patients suffered from endometriosis treated from 1997 to 2000,ureteral obstruction occurred in 2 accompanied by hydronephrosis and dilatation of ureter. Both the 2 underwent sub total hysterectomy, resection of the intumescence in pelvic cavity, and the ureter was freed from the surrounding tissue. Results Ureteral obstruction was relieved in 7~10 days after the procedure. Both the petients were followed up for 2 years without recurrence. Conclusions Attention shoud be called to ureteral obstruction caused by endometriosis.Ultrasonic examination and intravenous pyelogram before operation, close examination of the ureter and adequate freeing of the ureter from it's surrounding tissue during operation, the application of gestrinone for 6 months after the operation, and scheduled following up would yield a satisfactory outcome.

Objective To investigate the effects of serum from burned rats on the gene expression in cultured rat mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). Methods Bone marrow was extracted from sacrificed Wistar rats, and MSCs were then incubated for 24h in F-12 medium in the presence of normal rat serum (group N) or serum obtained from burned rats 3 days after injury (group B). Total RNA was extracted from both groups. The mRNA was isolated. An Oligo microarray containing 5705 genes was used to compare the differences of gene expression between two groups. Results There were four genes which expressed differently in two groups. In comparison with group N, the expression of steroid sensitive gene 1 was decreased, but that of fibroblast growth factor-4, dihydroxyacetonephosphate acyltransferase and a EST, which was moderately similar to Bmp2-inducible kinase, were increased in group B. Conclusion Serum from burned rats was able to change the gene expression of MSCs, and it might play the key role in wound repair.

Objective To investigate the effects of serum from rats with burn injury on the differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs). Methods Bone marrow was extracted from sacrificed Wistar rats and MSCs were then incubated in F-12 medium in the presence of fetal calf serum (FCS) (group F),normal rat serum (group N),or serum harvested from rats with burn injury(group B). Cells of the fifth passage were harvested to investigate the expression of CK and FⅧ by immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry. Results With immunohistochemical staining, both CK and FⅧ were positive in MSCs of group B and negative in the cells of the other two groups. The flow cytometry analysis showed that the positive rates of CK and FⅧ staining MSCs of group B were higher than that of the other two groups ( P 0.05). Conclusions The serum obtained from rats with burn injury could induce differentiation of MSCs to both epithelial cells and vascular endothelial cells, implying that serum after barm injury might promote the MSCs to participate in the process of wound repair.

Objective To investigate the effect of bFGF and MSCs autografting on expression of PCNA and Ⅷ-R Ag of porcine skin defect wound. Methods Six male minipigs were used to produce 48 full-thickness skin wounds, each wound area about 2.54 cm~ 2 on both sides of the back (8 wounds per pig). These 48 wounds were randomly treated with bFGF, MSCs, bFGF+MSCs, and normal saline (12 wounds for each treatment). The tissue from the wounds was harvested on day 3, 7, 14 after surgery, then used for HE staining and immunohistochemical staining for proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) and factor Ⅷ related antigen (Ⅷ-R Ag). Results Granulation tissue was presented in all groups on day 3 and 7 after wound, most abundant in the wounds treated with bFGF+MSCs, as well as blood capillary formation. PCNA expression increased after skin injury, reached the peak on day 7, most in the granulation tissue, and lasted to day 14, then began to decrease. On day 3, 7, 14 after skin injury, PCNA expression was the most highest in the wounds treated with bFGF+MSCs. Ⅷ-R Ag-positive cells in the wounds treated with bFGF+MSCs were significantly more than that of the other three treatments (P

8.Effects of Bushen Tiaochong Recipe contained serum on proliferation and secretion of ovarian granulocyte cultured with excessive androgen.
Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2006;26(4):348-351
OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Bushen Tiaochong Recipe (BTR) on proliferation and secretion of ovarian granulocyte (OGC) cultured with excessive androgen by serum pharmacologic technique.
METHODSFollicular stimulating hormone (FSH) contained and BTR contained (high, moderate or low dose) serum prepared on 6-week-old Sprague Dawley rats by serum pharmacologic method were respectively added into cultured OGC cell-line after treatment with testosterone propionat (TP). Then the cells were incubated for 48 hrs. The quantity of 3 H-thymidine incorporated DNA was determined with a scintillation counter; the cell cycle distribution and proliferation index (PI) were estimated with flow cytometer (FCM); and the contents of estrodial and progestogen in culture fluid and intracellular cAMP were detected by radioimmuoassay.
RESULTSExcessive androgen obviously inhibited the proliferation and secretion of OGC, and reduced the intracellular cAMP. BTR contained serum could improve above-mentioned inhibition of androgen to promote the cell proliferation and secretion of E2 and P in dose-dependant manner.
CONCLUSIONBTR could alleviate the inhibitory action of excessive androgen on OGC, the ovarian function may be adjusted by BTR through promoting follicular development, increasing the levels of estrogen and progestogen, improving the ratio of estrogen/androgen.

Objective To evaluate clinical factors as predictors of radiation pneumonitis(RP)in advanced stage non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients treated with concurrent radiochemotherapy when gross tumor volume is 70 Gy. Methods Data of 84 patients with histologically proved NSCLC treated with 3DCRT or IMRT were collected. To evaluate the correlation between clinical parameters and radiation pneumonitis(RP). The clinical parameters were considered: pathological type, therapy agents, age, gender, stage, karnofsky performance status(KPS), smoking status, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD). Results The occurrence of grade 1,2 RP was 63%, 33%, respectively. In univariate analysis, diabetes was significantly associated with RP of ≥ grade 1(x2 =4.03, P = 0.045)and ≥grade 2(x2 = 15.59 ,P =0.000). KPS was significantly associated with RP of ≥grade 1(x2 =3.98 ,P = 0.046)and ≥grade 2(x2 = 5.21, P = 0.023). In logistic multivariate analysis, diabetes was significantly associated with RP of ≥grade 1(x2 =5.50,P =0.019)and ≥grade 2(x2 = 12.92,P =0.000). KPS was significantly associated with RP of ≥ grade 1(x2 = 6.29, P = 0.012)and ≥ grade 2(x2 = 6.61, P =0.010). Conclusion The definite statistical significant risk factors of RP are diabetes and KPS.

AIM: To investigate gene expression of bax, bcl-2 and p53 in fetal skin at different gestational ages and children skin in order to explore their potentially biological significance. METHODS: Apoptosis in skin specimens was determined by terminal deoxynucleotidy transferase mediated dUTP-biotin nick-end labeling technique (TUNEL). Gene expressions of bax, bcl-2 and p53 in skin at different developmental stages was examined with reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). RESULTS: Along with fetal growth and development, the incidence rate of apoptosis was increased progressively in skin. In skin from early gestational fetus, bcl-2 was strongly expressed. This gene expression was progressively decreased with increment in gestational age. In children skin, the mRNA content of this gene was significantly reduced compared with fetal skin (P
