1.Clinical Analyses of Lung Cancer-related Anemia

Objective To investigated the causes, characteristics and therapy of lung cancer-related anemia. Methods The clinical data of 334 patients with lung cancer, who were treated at our hospital during the last decade, were analyzed retrospectively. Results 76 patients with lung cancer had complication of anemia, including 34 cases of mild anemia, 37 cases of moderate anemia and 5 cases of severe anemia. A bone marrow biopsy were performed in 68 patients, 35 patients of which had tumor metastasis in the bone marrow. Treatment of 7 patients with lung cancer-related anemia with erythropoietin had short-term curative effect. Conclusions Anemia was common in lung cancer patients with frequency of 22 8 %, which was mild and middle. The main causes of lung cancer-related anemia were tumor metastasis in the bone marrow, nutritional deficiencies and blood loss.
2.Analysis of microRNA expression profile of peripheral Treg cells in ITP

Objective:To determine whether there were alteration of miRNA expression in peripheral Treg cells,through the contrast between normal people and patients with ITP and to explore the pathogenesis of ITP.Methods:Peripheral blood was obtained from ITP patients and normal people ,and Treg cells were isolated by flow cytometry.RNA was extracted from Tregs in each group,then for miRNA arrays analysis through Solexa sequencing.Compare ITP group and normal control group microarray to identify differentially expressed miRNA.Differentially expressed miRNA were analyzed to find the abnormal signaling pathways.Results: We screened multiple miRNA abnormal expression in Treg cell of ITP patients,which has significant differences were miR-1976,miR-548ae-5p,miR-5096-p3,miR-548am-5p,PC-3p-63471,and PC-3p-96627.By enrichment analysis,we found two abnormal signaling pathways:ErbB signaling pathway and TGF-βsignaling pathway.Conclusion:Differentially expressed miRNA were found in peripheral Treg cell of ITP patients,which may be affected the normal functioning immune regulation of Treg cells,and involved in the pathogenesis of ITP.
3.The Incidence of β-thalassemia Heterozygote Car rying α-thalassemia-1 Gene

【Objective】 To investigate the incidence of β-th alassemia (β-thal) heterozygote carrying α-thalassemia (α-thal ) 1 gene in Guangdong area. 【Methods】 β-thal genes were screened by reve rse dot blotting (RDB). In β-thal DNA samples α-thal 1 genes were am plified using gap-PCR method. 【Results】43 α-thal-1 cases were identifi ed among the 500 β-thal traits. The rate is 8.6%. 【Conclusion】 In Guangd ong area the incidence of β-thal heterozygote carrying α-thal-1 gen e is 8.6%, which should be paid much attention in the genetic counselling and pr enatal diagnosis.
4.Mutated BRAFV599E gene enhances the growth of malignant melanoma cell line A375

Objective To investigate the role of mutated BRAFV599E gene in the growth of malignant melanoma cells. Methods In the previous study, plasmids containing small hairpin RNAs (shRNAs), braf1 and braf2 specific for mutated BRAFV599E gene, were designed and used to transfect A375 cells to inhibit the expression of BRAF gene in these cells. In this study, four kinds of A375 cells, including Abraf1 (transfect ed with braf1), Abraf2 (transfected with braf2), Aneg (transfected with negative plasmid) and A375 (untransfected) cells, were chosen and cultured in 96-well plate. MTT assay, plate clone forming assay, flow cytometry were applied to test the growth, clone formation, cell cycle and apoptosis of these cells respectively. Results Compared with A375 and Aneg cells, inhibited proliferation (F=25.48, P<0.001) and clone-forming rate (F=90.06, P<0.001) were observed in Abraf1 and Abraf2 cells; furthermore, flow cytometry showed a decrease in S-phase population(F=147.87, P<0.001) but an increase in G1-phase population (F=9.14, P<0.05)in Abraf1 and Abraf2 cells. However, neither Abrafl nor Abraf2 cells exhibited a significant increase in apoptosis ratio (F=2.27, P>0.05). Conclusions Mutated BRAFV599E gene could induce the switch from G1 phase to S phase in melanoma cells, subsequently accelerate the growth of melanoma cells, but it has no obvious influence on the apoptosis of these cells.
5.Evaluation of the efficacy and safety of α1 adrenergic blockers for treating young men with primary bladder outlet obstruction

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of α1-adrenergic blockers for treating young men with primary bladder neck obstruction (PBNO). Methods A retrospective review was done of the presenting symptoms and videourodynamic findings of 22 young men younger than 35 years with PBNO. Mean age was 28 years (range 18 to 35). The presenting symptoms were hesitancy in 21 (95%), weak stream in 17(77%), frequency in 16(73%), urgency in 8(36%) and pelvic pain in 6 (27%). Mean symptom duration was 28(3-62)months. A dose of 4 mg Doxazosion was adminis-tered for at least 6 months. International prostate symptom score(IPSS), Quality of life(QOL), uro-flowmetry, post-void residual urine and blood pressure were assessed before and 6 months after medi-cation. Improved urine flow was defined as at least 3 ml. per second increase in the maximum flow rate. Improved symptom was defined as more than a 40% decrease in IPSS. Successful treatment was defined as improved in urine flow and symptoms. Results Follow-up data were available for 21 of 22 patients. The medication period was 8.7±2.5 months and follow-up duration was 12.3±4.9 months. Mean Ⅰ-PSS decreased from 16.9±3.7 to 10.7±4.5. Mean QOL decreased from 4.3±1.2 to 2.5±1.0. Mean maximum flow rate increased from (9.8±3.5)ml to (14.9±3.6)ml. per second. Mean post-void residual urine decreased from (78.2±35.6)ml to (46.5±19.4)ml. There were significant differences(P<0.01). Treatment was successful in 14 patients (67%). Drug tolerability was good. Mean blood pressure was (110.0±7.9)/ (75.0±5.9)mm Hg and (107.0±8.7)/(72.0±7.1)mm Hg before medicine therapy and after 6 months medication(P>0.05). Conclusions Videourody-namics is the diagnostic gold standard of PBNO. In our experience α1-adrenergic blockers are clinically effective therapy and safety for PBNO and have been well tolerated in young male patients.
6.Regulation of the extracellular matrix synthesis and degradation in liver fibrotic rats by antisense TIMP_1

Objective To investigate the effects of antisense TIMP 1 on the interstitial collagen synthesis of fibrotic liver in rats. Methods Fibrosis was induced in the liver of rats with the injection of 60% CCl 4 and 5% alcohol. Recombinant antisense TIMP 1 gene mammalian expression vectors were construct and infused into the fibrotic liver of rats. The expressions of TIMP 1 mRNA, ?1(Ⅲ) mRNA and protein were determined by RT PCR, ISH and immunohistochemistry. The serum levels of PCⅠ, PCⅢ in rats were determined by RIA. 7.Application of Duct Endoscopy in Diagnosis of Nipple Discharge

Objective To evaluate the application of duct endoscopy in the diagnosis of breast diseases characterized by nipple discharge.Methods One hundred and sixty-nine consecutive cases from October 2003 to September 2004 who had duct endoscopy for nipple discharge were reviewed and followed up.Results Of 169 cases,79 ductitis,62 intraductal papilloma,9 intraductal carcinoma in situ,19 without breast diseases were diagnosed under duct endoscopy.During following up,the diagnostic accuracy of intraductal papilloma and intraductal carcinoma in situ with duct endoscopy was 89.8%(44/49) and 55.6%(5/9),respectively.There was only one patient who had breast pain and mild skin redness which was cured with oral antibiotics for 3 days.Conclusion Duct endoscopy is an only technique to explore the etiology for duct discharge under vision.It is direct,safe and effective,with a high accuracy.
8.Efficiency Evaluation of Iodized Salt Supply in Prevention of Iodine Deficiency Disease in Tianjin in 1995-2005

Objective To evaluate the efficiency of ten years of iodized salt supply in prevention and control of iodine deficiency disease (IDD) in Tianjin. Methods 1 200 pupils aged 8-10 years with 1:1 of sex ratio were chosen in the regions where iodized salt supply had been conducted for 10 years (1995-2005), the prevalence rate of goiter, the level of urine iodine and the iodized salt consumption were investigated. Results The prevalence rate of goiter of children aged 8-10 years in Tianjin decreased from 32.6% to 1.8% after 10 years of iodized salt supply, the median of urinary iodine increased from 96 ?g/L to 228 ?g/L. In the high water iodine regions, the prevalence rate of goiter was 8.1%, the median of urinary iodine was 576 ?g/L. Conclusion 10 years of iodized salt supply can significantly prevent and control IDD in the regions where there is iodine deficiency in drinking water, but the problem should not be neglected that iodine excess in the regions where the concentration of iodine in drinking water is higher. Reasonable iodine supplement is the key to prevent and control IDD as a whole.
9.Extermination of Algae in Water Used for Landscape

Objective To assess the efficiency of algae extermination by the combined copper electrolysis technology. Methods The combined copper electrolysis technology and copper sulphate were used to treat the Synechocystissp strain PCC6803 in the steady stage of culture in different time and the efficiency of algae extermination was assessed. Results No alga in the water sample was detected after 0.5 and 1 hour of treatment with copper electrolysis technology and copper sulphate respectivly as the concentration of Cu2+ was at 0.3 mg/L. The extermination rate of algae was 80.75% after 12 days of treatment of combined copper electrolysis. This technology could effectively decrease the turbidity, smell, COD, ammonia nitrogen and increase the dissolved oxygen in the treated water. Conclusion The Cu2+ released by copper electrolyzing has a stronger efficiency of algae extermination compared with copper sulfate. The combined copper electrolysis technology will be a satisfactory method for algae extermination in the landscape water.
10.Clinical analysis of 8 cases of cavernous lymphangioma

Objective:To analyze the clinical features, treatment efficacy and prognosis of cavernous lymphangioma.Methods:The clinical manifestations, laboratory findings, imaging examinations and treatment of 8 patients with pathology-diagnosed cavernous lymphangioma admitted in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 1990 to July 2020 were retrospectively analyzed.Results:All the patients were female. The onset age ranged from 0 to 58 years, with a course of 24 (5,78) months. There were 2 cases of abdominal mass, 2 cases of axillary mass, 1 case of neck mass, 1 case of inguinal mass, 1 case of mandibular mass and 1 case of pleural and peritoneal effusion. Seven cases had adult onset and 1 case had congenital onset. Two patients had had history of surgery adjacent to lesion sites. Contrast-enhanced CT scan showed a low-density round mass with no significant enhancement in 5 patients. Seven patients underwent complete resection of the mass, 1 patient received partial resection and intervention with medium-chain fatty-acid diet. During the follow-up, 4 patients were stable after 3.5 (1.3-17.8) years, while 2 patients relapsed 1 and 13 year after surgery, respectively. Additionally, one patient was diagnosed with Bowen disease.Conclusion:Cavernous lymphangioma can be congenital or acquired and usually occurs in female. The body mass is the common clinical manifestation; and surgery is the most common treatment, but it is prone to relapse and requires long-term follow-up.
