The purpose of the survey was to identify the degree and the relationship of sexual knowledge, sexual attitude. This information will provide useful data for a more systematic, desirable, and practical sex education. The data was collected from 187 first grade schoolchildren(95 boys and 92 girls) of two Junior high school in Chun-nam area. The data was gathered by questionnaire from Oct. 1 to 15, 1996. The questionnaire was modified by authors using the questionnaire developed by You-Jeong, Han(1996). Data was analyzed by using the statistical computer package, SAS to manipulate the data long with percentages, means, standard deviation, t-test, chi2-test, GLM, and Pearson correlation coeffiency. The results in this study were summarized as follows : 1. Sex related knowledge. - The mean score of sex related knowledges showed significant differences between boys and girls(boys ; 22.3, girls ; 21.0, p<0.025), and in the area of pregnancy & delivery(boy ; 9.4, girls ; 7.9, P<0.000) showed significant difference between boys and girls, but in the area of physical differences of the others sex(boys ; 12.9, girls ; 13.1, p<0.551) showed no significant difference between boys and girls. 2. Sex related attitudes. - The mean score of sex related attitudes showed significant difference between boys and girls(boys ; 56.7, girls : 60.5, p<0.002) and in the area of psychological difference the other sex(boys : 28.9, girls : 32.5, p<0.000), but in the areas of form of friendship with the other sex(boys : 11.5, girls : 11.2, p<0.335), sexual delinquency & its prevention(boys : 16.3, girls : 16.9, p<0.171) showed no significant difference between boys and girls. 3. The relationships between sex related knowledges and sex related attitudes. - Those who had higher sex related knowledges showed more positive attitudes towards sex, and showed no statistical significance(r=0.08, p<0.286). 4. Differences of the sex related knowledges according to general characteristics. - The students had disease experience, health interest and more school performance had higher knowledge scores about sex. 5. Differences of the sex related attitudes according to general characteristics. - Those who were in high school performance had higher attitude scores about sex as well.. From the result of the study, it is recommended to develop systematic sex education through formal school education according to age.

Objective Study the prevention and early diagnosis of severe complications of thoracoscopy. Methods 400 patients,(18～81)years,ASA Ⅰ-Ⅲ,underwent thoracoscoy,including 320 pulmonary bubble resections and 80 thorax,mediastinum or lung tumor biopsy or resections.All patients were anesthetized with one-lung ventilation using a double-lumen tube and monitored continuously in circulatory and respiratory functions with a multi-runctional monitor. Results Severe intraoperative complications occurred in 8 patients,including 5 reexpansion pulmonary edema,1 complete occlusion of double-lumen tube due to massive pleural effusion,1 massive bleeding and 1 cardiac arrest due to bilateral pneumothorax.All complications were successfully treated and the patients were cured and discharged. Conclusions Thoracoscopy must be well prepared.Applying one lung anesthesia with double-lumen tube,careful observation during operation,early recognition and treatment of complications may contribute to assuring the safety of this procedure.

Objective To detect the expression and activation level of nuclear factor ?B (NF-?B) in synovium of rheumatoid arthritis (RA).Method Forty-six specimens including 17 RA, 24 osteoarthritis (OA) and 5 normal synovial tissues were subjected to RT-PCR to determine the mRNA level of NF-?B p65,p50,inhibitor of NF-?B (I?B),interleukin-1? (IL-1?) and matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9).Thirty-nine sections including 14 RA,21 OA and 4 normal synovium were subjected to immunohistochemistry to determine the expression level of NF-?B p65.Synoviocytes from 14 synovial specimens including 8 RA and 6 OA were cultured and the nuclear protein was extracted and reserved for western blot.Results The mRNA level of p65,IL-1(,MMP-9 were higher in RA group than that of control (P

0.05).In the Laparoscopic Group ureterovaginal fistula occurred in 1 case,while in the Open Group there were 1 case of bladder injury and 6 cases of fatty dissolution beneath the incision.No statistical difference was observed in complication rate between the two groups(?2=3.255;P=0.071).Conclusions Total laparoscopic hysterectomy is a safe and effective operation.Compared with open surgery,it offers less invasion,less interference to the abdominal organs,and quicker postoperative recovery.

TNP-conjugated spleen adherent cells (SAC) from normal BALB/c mice could stimulate lymph-node T lymphocytes (LNT) of 1, 3, 5-trinitrobenzene (TNCB) -primed syngeneic mice to proliferate in vitro. The proliferative response was suppressed when phorbol myristic acetate.(PMA) was present in the culture. SAC pretreated with PMA also suppressed markedly the response. Furthermore, PMA was shown to inhibit interleukin-1 (IL-1) production and/or secretion by macrophages in response to LPS stimulation in vitro. Therefore, the suppressive effect of PMA on antigen presentation seems to be due to its inhibitory effect on IL-1 production and/or secretion.

Objective To establish the animal model of periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) caused by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and investigate the immune mechanisms in the pathogenesis of cerebral palsy due to intrauterine infection. Methods Twenty-six mature pregnant Wistar rats were divided into experiment(n= 15)and control groups(n =11).
