1.A Clinical Survey on Bladder Tumor.
Korean Journal of Urology 1983;24(2):273-280
A clinical survey was made on 90 cases of bladder tumor admitted to the Department of Urology. Hanyang University Hospital during the period from May, 1972 to April, 1982. The following results were obtained: 1. During the period, 2,679 patients were hospitalized, there were 90 cases of bladder tumor giving a rate of 3.4%. 2. The sex ratio was 5:1 with 75 male and 15 female, and 71.1% of the cases were in the age group of 41-70. 3. Hematuria was the most common symptom and occurred in 83.3%. 4. 70% of the cases visited the hospital within 1 year after the occurrence of the initial symptom. 5. Among 76 cases in which IVP was performed, 68.4% of the cases revealed normal upper urinary tract, and filling defect in the bladder were observed in 60.5% of the cases. 6. In the majority of case the tumor was located on the inside of the lateral wall of the bladder (67.8%) 64.4% of all cases had multiple lesions. 7. On pathological examination, 94.4% were transitional cell carcinomas and Grade II was the most frequent finding. 8. Initial treatment was given for 65 of the 90 cases of bladder tumor. TUR operation were performed in 9 cases, open resection and electrofulguration in 10 cases, partial cystectomy in 16 cases and total cystectomy with urinary diversion in 7 cases. Operation with chemotherapy or radiation therapy were performed in 17 cases, intravesical chemotherapy and radiation therapy were used in 2 cages each and systemic chemotherapy and radiation with chemotherapy were uses in 1 case each. 9. Average duration of follow up was about 15.8 months. 10. First recurrence percentage was 42.8.

The lesions of central nervous system in tuberous sclerosis often calcify, especially those present in the perivascular region, allowing the computed tomography to make early and definite diagnosis, even when patients intelligence was normal, seizures were absent, or clinical findings were not specific, We report three cases of tuberous sclerosis, which showed pathognomic subependymal paraventricular calcification in brain CT.

5.An Clinical Observation Of Ultrasonography in Renal Diseases.
Korean Journal of Urology 1983;24(5):713-722
A Clinical observation was made on 70 cases of renal diseases, out patients and admitted to the department of Urology, Hanyang University Hospital during the period from January, 1982 to August, 1983. The following results were obtained: 1. The sex ratio was 1.3:1 with 39 male and 31 female, and 67.1% of the cases were in the age group of 41-70. 2. Obstructive diseases was the most common renal diseases and occurred in 32.8%. 3. On the ultrasonic pattern of renal diseases, solid echo-pattern were observed in 13 cases, cystic echo-free pattern in 34 cases, complex echo-pattern in 10 cases, absence of kidney in 3 cases and normal echo-pattern in 10 cases. 4. Secondary diagnostic ultrasound was the most common useful method of detecting nonvisualized kidney on IVP and hydronephrosis was the most common cause of unilateral renal nonvisualization, giving rate of 42.8%. 5. On the ultrasonic pattern of 17 cases in renal tumors, solid echo-pattern were observed in 11 cases (64.7%), complex echo-pattern in 6 cases (35.3%) and cystic echo-free pattern were not observed. 6. Diagnostic accuracy of ultrasonographic evaluation in renal diseases was 93%.

Paragonimus westermani mainly infests the lung parenchyma, and it is also causes ectopic parasitism of various sites, such as brain, liver and subcutaneous tissue but there have been no reports in literature about paragonimiasis infesting lumbar epidural space. A 58-year-old housewife complained of lumbago and radiating pain to both lower extremities for 20 years. Calcified extradural masses were found by preoperative plain X-ray, myelogram, and CT scan. Intraoperatively, cystic mass in the epidural space at L2-3 was found and confirmed to be paragonimiasis by histopathological study. A case of ectopic paragonimiasis in the lumbar epidural space at L2-3 level is presented.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1994;29(6):1593-1596
Operative repair of mallet fracture is a technically difficult operation because fracture of fragment and the difficulty in visualizing the articular congruity. The problems with these methods include soft tissue scar formation and subsequent joint stiffness. From January 1993 to April 1994, eight cases of mallet fingers with displaced large fracture fragment and/or subluxed distal phalanx were treated by closed reduction using extension-block Kirschner wire. The follow-up evaluation took place after a mean of 6 months. The results according to Crawford's criteria were four excellent, two good and two fair. This technique is simple, and easier than other techniques for reduction of mallet fractures, and is associated with a low morbidity.

Journal of Korean Neurosurgical Society 1983;12(4):547-554
We reviewed 13 patients treated in the Department of Neurosurgery of the Presbyterian Medical Center from 1979 to 1982 who had tumors in the region of the pineal body. The treatment of such tumors has been in a state of flux between conservative therapy(cerebro-spinal fluid shunting and radiotherapy) and direct surgical removal. We compared both modes of treatment and analysed the patients in terms of clinical, pathological and radiological points of view. Good results were obtained by supracerebellar and infratentorial surgical approach.

10.Effects of Web-Based Nutrition Counseling on Dietary Behavior and Food Intake in Hyperlipidemic Patients.
Journal of the Korean Dietetic Association 2005;11(4):418-429
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the web-based nutrition counseling on the dietary behavior and food intake of hyperlipidemic patients and to evaluate the web-based nutrition counseling program. Forty hyperlipidemic patients, twenty of them were hypercholesterolemia and the other twenty were hypertriglyceridemia, participated in the web-based nutrition counseling program. At the first nutrition counseling, the patients were interviewed and then follow-up nutrition counselings were accomplished four times during eight weeks through a web-based internet program. The web-based nutrition counseling program was consisted of diet management, nutrition education and nutritional assessment and the follow-up counseling program. The dietary behavior score increased significantly in both groups after the nutrition counseling program(p<0.01). The diet therapy knowledge score also increased significantly (p<0.01). For food frequency, vegetable (p<0.01), fruit (p<0.05) and seaweed (p<0.01) consumption increased significantly, while meat (p<0.01), egg (p<0.01), snack (p<0.01) and instant food (p<0.01) intake decreased significantly in both groups after the nutrition counseling program. The evaluation of the web-based nutrition counseling program by the patients showed above average in all domains, specially the evaluation scores of younger aged patients habituated to practice computer were better than those of older aged patients. Therefore, this study shows that the web-based nutrition counseling program is effective for improving dietary behavior and food consumption the patients. In addition, these results indicate that internet presents us with potential as a new medium for nutrition counseling in informationized society.
