Tbe presence of certain HPV types in the female genital tract was associated with a number of diseases, including condyloma, cervical, vaginal and vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia and carcinoma. It is generally accepted that these viruses are predominantly sexually transmitted. HPV cannot be cultured in vitro, and immunological tests are inadequate. Indirect evidence of anogenital HPV infection can be obtained through the physical examination and by the presence of characteristic cellular changes associated with viral replication in Pap smear or biopsy specimens. Alternately cervical scrapes can be analyzed by nucleic acid hybridization to directly detect the presence of HPV DNA, Historically, HPV 16 and HPV 18 have been regarded as high risk cancer associated HPVs and HPV types 6, 11, 42, 43 and 44 as low risk HPVs. Subsequently HPV types 31, 33, 34, 35, 45, 51, 52, 56 and 58 have been demonstrated to have and intemediate association with cancer, This study was performed for high and intermediate types HPV DNA detection on cervical carcinoma with Virapap Probe B. HPV DNA were detected 82.3% on cervical carcinoma and 7,1% on control samples. HPV DNA test will be apply as a triage for cervical cancer detecting test.

After the introduction of the central parenchymal pedicle by Hester(1985) and the round-block technique by Benelli (1988), several variations of periareolar reduction mammoplasty have been used by many authors. Periareolar reduction mammoplasty is a less aggressive procedure than traditional techniques and it produces less conspicuous periareolar scars while maintaining an acceptable overall result. We experienced 120 cases (60 patients) of periareolar reduction mammoplasty during the period from May 1994 to February 1998. We present the analysis of 60 cases of periareolar reduction mammoplasty. Periareolar reduction mammoplasty utilizing central parenchymal pedicle was performed in the first 40 patients, while a procedure utilizing the inferior dermal pedicle was done in the next 20 cases consecutively. The range of follow-up was from 1 to 5 years. Complications such as nipple areolar complex necrosis and sensory changes were reduced when the inferior dermal pedicle used. There were 5 cases of nipple areolar complex necrosis and sensory changes were reduced when the inferior dermal pedicle used. There were 5 cases of nipple areolar complex necrosis (6.2%), including 1 case of near total necrosis in cases utilizing the central parenchymal pedicle. But in the technique using inferior dermal pedicle, there was no skin flap necrosis. The central parenchymal pedicle technique has several advantages such as a wide operation field permitting complete breast contouring and better mobility of the remaining breast tissue. However, inferior dermal pedicle technique has relative superiority over central parenchymal pedicle technique in terms of anatomical rationale, as well as in the rate of complications without causing limitations in breast mobility for contouring. Such complications as nipple areolar complex necrosis, skin flap necrosis and sensory change of nipple were reduced when the inferior dermal pedicle technique was used. It is much easier to preserve the 4th intercostal nerve to the nipple anatomically. Periareolar reduction mammoplasty utilizing the inferior dermal pedicle is thought to be a reliable, reproducible method.

A case of lymphocytoma cutis, the circumscribed form in 9 year-old girl is reported. This is seldom conclusive without histological examinatien for a wide variety of conditions has to be considered. The circumscribed form usually responds rapidly to radiotherapy, although recurrence is possible and good results from the use of procaine penicillin especially in the disseminated form. In this case, I experienced good results from CO, slush and topical application of 0.25 % fluocortolone 3 times a day without recurrence in 3 months after treatment.

Fisting is an uncommon sexual activity, and death due to fisting is very rare. In the present report, we describe a case of a woman who died from fisting by her male partner. A 38-year-old woman went to a motel with a man after consuming alcohol, and there they kissed each other. As desired by woman, the man inserted his fingers into her vagina and anus, and later inserted his fist and forearm into her vagina and anus. After 20-30 minutes of fisting, the woman became unconscious and died. The autopsy confirmed the presence of perineal and vaginal lacerations with massive internal pelvic soft tissue injury with uterine artery rupture. A partial tear was noted at the rectosigmoid junction. The cause of death was hypovolemic shock due to uterine artery rupture. Following court trials, the assailant was sentenced to 4 years of imprisonment for the felony of inflicting bodily injury resulting in death.

BACKGROUND: Although palmoplantar epidermal cysts have long been associated with develop ment following implantation of an epidermal fragment as a result of a penetrating or blunt injury, the pathogenic mechanism is still not fully understood. Since 1987, many cases have been reported in which human papillomavirus(HPV) could be associated with palmoplantar epidermal cysts. OBJECTIVE: In this study, we evaluated the clinicopathological findings of palmoplantar epidermal cysts and investigated them for the presence of HPV in order to examine the role of HPV in the pathogenesis of this disorder in Korea. METHODS: The clinical, histological, immunohistochemical studies were performed on seven cases of plantar cysts, and two cases of palmar cysts. RESULTS: No previous trauma history was seen. Histopathologically, parakeratotic nuclei, or vacuolar strutures within the keratinous mass in the cyst cavity were found. However, we could not find intracytoplasirnic eosinophilic bodies in the wall, the cyst content, or the overlying epidermis. The dyskeratotic keratinocytes were observed in 3 cases. Papillomavirus common antigens were not detected by immunohissochemical staining. CONCLUSIONS: Palmoplantar epidermal cysts in Korea have some different histological features compared to those of HPV 60-associated cases in Japan and we could not detect the immunohistochemical evidence of HPV infection in our cases.

Erythema Annulare Centrifugum is characterized by migratory annular, arcuate or polycyclic erythemas with central clearing. Its etiology is not conclusive but there are many reports about the etiology, i.e." due to dermatophytid"," the drugs",' intemal diseases", or" unknown etiology" etc. A case of Erythema Annulare Centrifugum with "unkown etiology" was reported. The patient revealed slightly elevated, migratory annular erythemas with central clearing on the both posterior portions of thighs. Histopathologically, there was no abnormality in the epidermis. The authors observed 2 cases of poikilcdermatomyositis who were 16 and l0 years old female. The former visited our dept. due to rashes on the anterior portion of right thigh with 3 months duration. The skin lesion revealed mottled skin pigmentation, telangiectasia, atrophy, and cigarrette paper like wrinklings. On the palpation, hardness and tenderness in the lesion were felt. The latter visited our dept. due to weakness of the right lower extremity for 3years. The skin lesion revealed the same feature as the former but more prominent. Histophthologically, P.V.A. patterns are seen in the both skin lesions. The epidermis shows moderate atrophy of St. malphigi and flattening of reteridges. The dermis is edematous, vascular dilatations, and cellular infiltrations, most of lymphocytes, around the blood vessels. The muscle biopsies for the Quardriceps Femoris sbow Dermatomyositis patterns which the muscle bundles are degenerative changes and many cellular infiltrations, chiefly of lymphocytes, are seen between the muscle bundles. Diagnosis was confirmed by the clinical and histological pictures. These patients were markedly improved by the prednisolone therapy.
