This study was undertaken to observe the effects of centrally administred antihistamines on the blood pressure. Diphenhydramine(DPH), a H1-receptor antagonist, and ranitidine(RAN), a H2-receptor antagonist were administered intracerebroventricularly(icv) on urethane-anesthetized rabbits. 1) Both DPH and RAN administered intraccebroventricularly increased blood pressure, however the intravenous(iv) adminstration of them did not affect blood pressure. The pressor response to icv DPH was dose-dependent, but that to icv RAN was not. 2) The pressor response to icv DPH(1mg) was either markedly attenuated or reversed to depressor response by the pretreatment with icv phentolamine(250,500ug), and iv chlorisondamine(0.1, 1mg/Kg) and iv phenoxybenzamine(1mg/Kg). In cord-sectioned rabbtis, icv RAN) 1mg) did not produce pressor response. 3) The pressor responsr to icv RAN(1mg) was not affected by the pretreatment with icv phentolamine(500ug), iv chlorisondamin(1mg/Kg) and iv phenoxybenzamine(1mg/Kg), and iv phenoxybenzamine(1mg/Kg). RAN also producted pressor response in cordsectioned rabbits. These results suggest that the pressor response to icv DPH is elecited by increasing peripheral sympathetic tone via the stimulation of central alpha-adrenoreceptors and the pressor response to icv RAN is produced by releasing some humoral facotr which can increase blood pressure.

Korean Journal of Anesthesiology 1991;24(1):119-123
We know that irrigating fluid used during transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) is rapidly absorbed through open prostatic venous channels in large amount. The TURP syndrome is symptom complex of hypervolemia & hyponatremia (below 130 mEq/1) due to absorption of irrigating fluid. We studied the change of serum sodium, potassium and symptom of hypervolemia during the perioperative period, in 35 patients undergoning TURP. The aim of this clinical study was to examine the possible relation between the irrigating fluid absorption & the development of hyponatremia after TURP. The results were as follow. 1) Though p value was not acceptable, there waa numerical correlation between the weight of resected prostate and the amount of irrigating fluid. 2) TURP syndrome and severe sodium change were not reported in our studiea, 3) We through the cause of above results that operation time & minimal use of irrigating fluid & minimal bleeding due to advanced operative technique, adequate fluid therapy, and intenaive monitoring of vital sign & physiologic change of patients.

Journal of the Korean Society for Microbiology 1999;34(1):13-20
BACKGROUNDS: The molecular genetic characteristcs of cis-AB blood group have shown that its allele had C, G, C and C at nucleotide positions (nps) 526, 703, 796 and 803, respectively. And all cis-AB analysed and reported molecular genetically in Korea and Japan had T at np 467 (leucine at amino acid position 156). We report a first case of cis-AB with C at np 467 (proline at amino acid position 156). METHODS: Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood of cis-AB patient and amplified by DS1/DS2 and DS3/DS4 allele-specific primers. After PCR, we analysed nps 261, 467, 526, 646, 703, 796, and 803 by restriction digestion, autoradiography and automatic sequencing. RESULTS: PCR-RFLP with DS1/DS2 primers and restriction enzyme KpnI showed that cis-AB had an 0 allele. The results of genomic sequencing, autoradiography and restriction digestion showed that cis-AB allele at nps 467, 526, 646, 703, 796 and 803 had C, C, T, G, C and C, respectively. CONCLUSION: This cis-AB showed characteristic molecular genetic features at nps 526, 703, 796, and 803. And this is a first case of A(Pro) cis-AB with C at np 467. Korean Journal of Gynecologic Oncology and Colposcopy 1994;5(2):98-103
Massive ovarian deema is a tate conditian. It is a benign enlargement of the ovary caused by accumulation of fluid, which is thought to result from intermittent partial toraion of the ovarian pedicle. Histologically, the ovaries were characterized by diffuse edema of medulla and inner cortex. Two cases of massive ovanan edema are reported with brief review of the literatures.
