1.Effects of combination treatment with SAHA and TRAIL on ER positive breast cancer cell MCF-7
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2016;(2):223-228
Aim To investigate the effects of com-bined treatment of SAHA and TRAIL on human breast cancer ER positive cell line MCF-7 . Methods MCF-7 cells were treated with SAHA and/or TRAIL. The inhibitory rates were detected by real-time cell prolifer-ation assays. Morphology changes of MCF-7 cells were observed through time-lapse live cell imaging acquisi-tion. Results Real-time cell proliferation assays showed that the anti-tumor efficacy of SAHA was sig-nificantly enhanced in combination with TRAIL. The results of time-lapse live cell imaging acquisition dem-onstrated that, with treatment of SAHA and TRAIL, the growth inhibition of MCF-7 cells was more obvious than that of in TRAIL or SAHA treatment alone. Con-clusion The combination treatment of SAHA and TRAIL has a synergistic effect of growth inhibition on breast cancer MCF-7 cells.

Chinese Journal of Radiological Medicine and Protection 2015;35(6):441-444
Objective To observe the therapeutic effects and toxicities of bone marrow-sparing intensity-modulated radiation therapy (BMS-IMRT) for postoperative cervical cancer. Methods From January 2011 to June 2012,totally 70 postoperative patients with cervical cancer were divided into BMS-IMRT group with 34 cases and IMRT group with 36 cases randomly.External whole pelvic intensitymodulated irradiation combined with chemotherapy was carried out for all patients. The planning target volume received a dose of 45 Gy/25 fractions in all patients.Delineation of the pelvis and limitation dose were carried out in BMS-IMRT group:the pelvis V30 ≤ 50%.All cases received chemotherapy with cisplatin (40 mg/m2) once a week concurrently with radiotherapy. Results Treatment was completed in 67 patients,as the other 3 patients stopped chemotherapy because of myelosuppression. There was no statistically significant differences between two groups for the 2-year local control survival(LCS)and overall survival(OS),alimentary tract toxicity and urinary toxicity.IMRT group had more serious hematologic toxicity than BMS-IMRT group, with statistically significant difference (x2 =14.355,P < 0.05).Conclusions The postoperative cervical cancer patients with poor prognostic factors who undergo concurrent chemoradiotherapy,IMRT group has more serious hematologic toxicity than BMS-IMRT group. The short-term effect and other toxicities reaction are similar between two groups.
6.Clinical analysis of testicular torsion with the primary symptom of abdominal pain in adolescents and boys
Chinese Journal of Urology 2015;(6):454-457
Objective To evaluate the characteristics of the testicular torsion patients with the first symptom of acute abdominal pain. Methods From October 1998 to May 2014, 8 adolescent or boys with testicular torsion presenting acute abdominal pain instead of scrotal pain as their primary symptom were retrospectively reviewed. The average age was 12 (3-16) years. An acute abdominal pain presented firstly in all cases, which accompanied by nausea and vomiting in 4 cases, groin pain in 2 cases, fever in 1 case. In genital examination, the scrotum skin was red and swollen, while the testis was in transverse position and tenderness. The testicular and homolateral abdominal pain got worse when we pulled the involved testis. Doppler ultrasound examination revealed that the blood supply of the involved testis decreased or disappeared. Results In the 8 cases, 5 cases were not examined their testicles or scrotum during the first evaluation, which were found the testicular necrosis during the following exploratory surgery, and orchidectomy was performed. In the other 3 cases, external genital were examined during the first evaluation, and the scrotal and testicular abnormalities were detected.Doppler ultrasonography showed abnormality in testicular blood supply.Testicular torsion was proved during the emergent operation, and the 3 testes were salvaged. The mean duration time from symptom onset to operation was 4 h in the salvaged group, while the average time was 28 h in the orchiectomy group. The mean follow-up time was 18 ( 10-36) months. In the 3 cases whose testis was saved, 1 affected testis was atrophied, and the blood supply of the other two was good.No severe complications occurred in the other 5 cases. Conclusions Testicular torsion should be considered in adolescents and boys with acute lower abdominal pain. The routine external genital examination should be performed when a boy or adolescent complains of abdominal pain.
7.The correlational study between the depression after acute stroke and nerve function defect
Chinese Journal of Primary Medicine and Pharmacy 2014;21(2):174-176
Objective To explore the correlation between the depression status of patients with post-stroke depression(PSD) and nerve function defect. Methods 75 patients in the first 24h of acute stroke onset were selected.According to the Zung depression self rating scale(SDS),75 cases were divided into simple stroke patients group and PSD group, and the Hamilton depression scale (HAMD) and Scandinavian nerve function defect rating scale (SSS) were used for further evaluation. The score results were statistically analyzed. Results Of 75 cases with acute stroke,32 cases(42.7%) were diagnosed PSD.Admission day 2,at the end of 1,2 and 3 weeks, the HAMD scores between PSD patients and simple acute stroke group had statistically significant differences (all P < 0.01).The HAMD scores of three groups of PSD patients (light, medium, heavy) appeared obvious changes with the prolonged time, which were significantly higher than the simple stroke group. The SSS score of simple stroke group and mild PSD patients increased with prolonged observation time, the difference between the two groups was significant (q =9.75,P < 0.05).The SSS score of moderate and severe PSD patients decreased with prolonged observation time, compared with the simple stroke group, the differences were statistically significant(q =50.23,46.82,all P < 0.05).In simple stroke patients and mild PSD patients,HAMD scores and SSS score had no correlation (r =0.062,P > 0.05).In moderate and severe PSD patients,HAMD score and SSS score had correlation (r =4.682,P < 0.05).Conclusion The incidence rate of PSD in acute brain stroke patients was 42.7%,and in patients with moderate and severe PSD,HAMD scores correlated with the degree of nerve function defect.Early intervention on depression treatment and promote the recovery of neural function is also important.
8.Non-contact heart rate estimation based on joint approximate diagonalization of eigenmatrices algorithm.
Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2014;31(4):729-733
Based on the imaging photoplethysmography (iPPG) and blind source separation (BSS) theory the author put forward a method for non-contact heartbeat frequency estimation. Using the recorded video images of the human face in the ambient light with Webcam, we detected the human face through software, separated the detected facial image into three channels RGB components. And then preprocesses i.e. normalization, whitening, etc. were carried out to a certain number of RGB data. After the independent component analysis (ICA)'theory and joint approximate diagonalization of eigenmatrices (JADE) algorithm were applied, we estimated the frequency of heart rate through spectrum analysis. Taking advantage of the consistency of Bland-Altman theory analysis and the commercial Pulse Oximetry Sensor test results, the root mean square error of the algorithm result was calculated as 2. 06 beat/min. It indicated that the algorithm could realize the non-contact measurement of heart rate and lay the foundation for the re- mote and non-contact measurement of multi-parameter physiological measurements.

9.Venous thrombosis around internal jugular venous indwelling catheter in hemodialysis patients
Chinese Journal of Nephrology 2009;25(1):1-4
Objective To investigate the prevalence, characteristics and risk factors of superior vena cava and auxiliary branchs thrombosis in hemodialysis patients with internal jugular venous indwelling catheter. Methods A total of 43 cases on hemodialysis (HD) with indwelling short-term catheter in internal jugular vein from June to December in 2007 were enrolled in this study. The clinical data and biochemical indicators were collected to investigate the prevalence, characteristics and risk factors of venous thrombosis around indwelling catheter, such as, superior vena cava and auxiliary branehs in these patients. Results Short-term double Iumen internal jugular venous catheter were placed in 43 HD patients. Different degrees of central vein thrombosis were found in 21 of the 43 HD patients (48.8%). The ratio of thrombosis in jugular vein, brachiocephalic vein, subclavical vein and uperior vena cava was 100% (21/21), 28.6% (6/21), 23.8%(5/21) and 19.0%(4/21), respectively. Ten of the 21 HD patients (47.6%) with central vein thrombosis presented clinical symptoms. Five cases developed edema of the upper extremity, 2 cases had new-onset symptom's pulmonary embolism, and 3 eases developed blood overflowed from inlet port of circum-catheter. The ratio of diabetes mellitus, malignant tumor, the prevalence of increased level of serum lipoprotein a and plasma homocysteic acid were significantly higher in the HD patients with central vein thrombosis than that in those without central vein thrombosis. The odds ratio of diabetes mellitus, malignant tumor, high serum lipoprotein a and high plasma homocysteic acid was 5.758, 4.750, 6.967 and 8.533, respectively. Conclusions The prevalence of central vein thrombosis in HD patients with short-term indwelling catheter in internal jugular vein is quite high. Its clinical symptom is insidious but dangerous. Diabetes mellitus, malignant tumor, high serum lipoprotein a and high plasma homocysteic acid may be the important risk factors of central vein thrombosis in above HD patients.
10.Relationship between circulating endothelial cells and tumor angiogenesis
Cancer Research and Clinic 2010;22(3):211-213
Circulating endothelial cells (CEC) are endothelial cells which are detected in the peripheral blood. There are very few CEC in healthy adults while the number is obviously increasing in patients with arthrosclerosis, diabetes mellitus, lupus erythematosus, et al. Nowadays, flow cytometry analysis and immunomagnetic isolation for CEC are employed successfully in clinic and scientific research. Several research findings have confirmed that there is intimate relation between CEC and tumorigenesis. Because of the important role in angiogenesis and tumor growth, CEC would be a perspective tumor marker in antiangiogenesis and would also predict the chemotherapy efficacy.
