Ultrasonography is most commonly utillized diagnostic tool in obstetric and gynecology for the evaluation ofpatient with a pelvic mass or pregancy. For it is characterized by no radiation hazard, noninvasive examinationand high diagnoastic accuracy. Also it affords an accurate assessment of the presence, size, location and internalconsistency of a pelvic mass. The recent availability and improved resolution of realtime scanning have afforded amore flexible and complete approach to evaluation of normal and abnormal structures in the pelvis. We analyzedultrasonographic findings in 154 pathologically proven cases of pelvic mass examined at Korea General hospitalfrom Jan. 1983 to Apr. 1984. The results were as follows; 1. The age distribution was from 12 years to 66 yearsand the majority of patients were between the ages of 21 and 50 yeasrs (91.4%). 2. The incidence of pelvic masswas 27.9% in uterine leiomyoma, 22.7% in ovarian cyst, 13.0% in addenomyosis and 8.4% in serous cystadenoma. 3. Mild to moderately echogenic nodular uterine enlargement with some cystic change(81.5%) of leiomyoma and multiplesmall vesicular pattern of intrauterine contents with uterine enlargement of Homole were the most common ultrasonographic findings. The location and type of leiomyoma were most common in the fundus and body (95.3%), and intramural myoma(53.5%). The most frequent finding of ovarian teratoma was cystic mass with echogenic focus(41.7%) but the echogenic appearance of the lesions was extremely variable. The ultrasonographic findings ofectopic pregnancy were cystic or complelx adnexal mass(80.0%), with or without fluid in cul-de-sac and deviationof uterus by adenxal mass. 4. Accuracy of ultrasonography in detemining the overall correct diagnosis of thepelvic masses compared with proven diagnosis was approximately 61.7%. The diagnostic accuracy was 90.7% inluterine leiomyoma, 100% in H-mole nad 80.0% in ectopic pregnancy.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1991;32(9):738-746
Under the postulation that double Ruiz procedure could increase the effect of radial keratotomy(RK), RK combined with horizontal and vertical Ruiz procedure was performed in three groups of 22 rabbit eyes. In the group A of six eyes, RK with vertical Ruiz procedure was performed, and eight weeks later the horizontal Ruiz procedure was added. In the group B of eight eyes, RK with horizontal Ruiz procedure was performed, and four weeks later the vertical Ruiz procedure was added. In the group C of eight eyes, RK with horizontal and vertical Ruiz procedure were performed simultaneously. As a control, in the group D of eight eyes, RK without Ruiz procedure was performed. Changes in keratometry for four weeks and eight weeks postoperatively were analyzed. The results were as follows: 1. At eight weeks postoperatively, mean changes in keratometry were 6.434D, 3.663D, 4.030D and 1.585D in groups A,B,C and D, respectively. 2. Mean changes in keratometry of groups A,B and C were significantly higher than that of group D. 3. Mean change in keratometry of 6.434D in group A was significantly the highest of the three groups in which the double Ruiz procedure was performed. From the above results, it was concluded that the double Ruiz procedure increased the effect of RK and that the procedure was more effective when secondary Ruiz procedure was added eight weeks later.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1988;23(4):1188-1194
Twenty nine cases of wrist tuberculosis were reviewed(19 joint involvement cases and 4 tendon involvement cases) and twenty three cases were followed up more than one and half years. The mean follow up period was 26.7 months. Synovectomies were not satisfactory in cases of joint involvement and they were useful only in cases of tendon involvement. Arthrodesises were used for 16 cases of joint involvement and were satisfactory in 87,5 percent by Robin's criteria. Finger stiffness was most serious complication(initially, 8.7 percent and finally, 34.8 percent) and it is suggested that early motion of fingers after arthrodesis can prevent this complication.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1989;30(6):867-873
To investigate general misconception on the eye problems, we have reported the misconception of students of middle school, high school and college for the first report and the false descriptions on the eye problems in the textbooks of primary school, middle school and high school. As the third report, we have investigated the errors on the ophthalmic problems which were found on the health related books sold on the bookstore. We found the errors in 27 books among about 50 books. The errors about the myopia were the most prevalent(in 10 books) among them.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1988;29(1):57-60
We have investigated the therapeutic effectiveness of T-lens(Soflens(R)) in 105 patients(110 eyes) with various corneal diseases. The results are as follows: 1. Cornea diseases, which revealed the good therapeutic effectiveness, are ccrneal perforation, postoperative uses, corneal ulcer, corneal erosion, and corneal edema. 2. Corneal disease, which revealed the rapid therapeutic effectiveness, is corneal edema. 3. Corneal diseases, which revealed no response, are neuroparalytic keratitis and radiation keratitis.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1987;28(6):1343-1350
To investigate general misconception on the eye problems, we have reported the misconception of students of middle school, high school and college for the first report. For its etiological study, we studied the false descriptions on the eye problems in the textbooks of primary school, middle school and high school. We found the false descriptions in terminology, causes of the myopia, contact lens and conjunctivitis(Trachoma). The result suggests that the main causes of misconception on the eye problems of students are the false descriptions on the textbooks of primary school, middle school and high school.

Korean Journal of Ophthalmology 1988;2(1):27-31
The authors reviewed 250 cases of tumors in the eye and its adnexa diagnosed histopathologirally at the Department of Ophthalmology, Seoul National University Hospital during the last 10 years (Jan. 1976 - Dec. 1985). The results were summarized as follows: 1. The sex distribution revealed 130 males (52%) and 120 females (48%). 2. The tumors of the eye and its adnexa involved the lid 73 cases (29.2%), epibulbar tissue 72 cases (28.8%), the orbit 56 cases (22.4%), and intraocula. tissue 49 cases (19.6%) in decreasing order. 3. There were 159 cases (63.6%) of benign tumors and 91 cases (36.4%) of malignant tumors. 4. The most frequent malignant tumor of the eye and its adnexa was retinoblastoma, and the most frequent benign tumor was nevus. 5. Of the intraocular malignant tumors, the incidence of retinoblastoma was impressively higher than that of malignant melanoma in Koreans. 6. Of the primary malignant lid tumors, the relative incidence of squamous cellcarcinoma and sebaceous gland carcinoma to basal cell carcinoma in Koreanswas high in comparison with that of Caucasians.
