Objective To study the changes in echocardiography in normotensive patients with type2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in order to establish early diagnosis and give preventive measures for diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM). Methods Microvasculopathy was diagnosed in T2DM patients when microalbuminuria exceeded 15ml/min. Fifty-four T2DM patients were divided into two groups: group A (patients without microvasculopathy, n=32 ), group B (patients with microvasculopathy, n=22). All of T2DM were submitted to echocardiography and the results were compared with healthy people of matched sex and age (group C, n=20). Results There were no differences in systolic function parameters among the groups. Left ventricular mass index (LVMI) was higher in two groups of diabetics compared with group C. Diastolic dysfunction of various degrees was found in the two groups of diabetics, regardless of the presence of microvasculopathy, with a manifestation of a decrease of blood flow velocity in early diastolic phase and increase in late diastolic phase (P

Commensal microorganisms that colonize barrier surfaces of all multicellular organisms exist in harmony with their hosts and have an important effect on both immune and non-immune functions of their hosts. Numerous researches have shown that gastrointestinal microbiota being one of the most important commensal microorganisms plays a critical role in the occurrence, development and treatment of cancer. As-signing causal roles in cancer to specific microbes and microbiotas, unraveling host-microbiota interactions with environmental factors in carcinogenesis, and applying such knowledge to cancer diagnosis and treatment are areas of intensive interest. This review considers how microbes and the microbiota may amplify or miti-gate carcinogenesis, responsiveness to cancer therapeutics, and cancer-associated complications.

Objective To investigate the protective effects of Bcl-2 associated with athanogene-1 (BAG-1) gene on human neuroblastoma cells (SH-SY5Y) injury induced by hypoxia/reoxygenation,and its influence on heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) expression. Methods The SH-SYSY cells at logarithmic growth phase were collected.Lenti virus mediated RNA interference (RNAi) technology was used to suppress the BAG-1 expression. The cells screened out can be divided into four groups:the cell control group with no lentivirus infection, lentivirus control group (containing only fluorescein protein lentivirus infection),BAG-1 siRNA group (BAG-1 siRNA silencing group),including BAG-1 siRNA-α group and BAG-1 siRNA-β group with lentivirus containing fluorescein protein (GFP) but at different BAG-1 siRNA target sites of silencing.Western Blot was used to detect the protein expression of BAG-1 and HSP70 in target cells after infectious recombination lentivirus for 72 hours;the Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) was used to detect the activity of four different group cells after hypoxia;the flow cytometry was used to detect the cell apoptosis;the HSP70 mRNA transcription level were detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) respectively in each group. Results After lentiviral infection for 72 hours, the Western Blot results showed that in the two BAG-1 siRNA silencing groups, the interference effect of BAG-1 siRNA-β group was superior to that of BAG-1 siRNA-α group. The cell viability of each group showed an increase followed by a decrease with the prolongation of hypoxia time, and reaching the peak at 8 hours. After hypoxia for 8 hours being given, the cell viability in BAG-1 siRNA-β group was significantly lower than that of the cell control group, lentivirus control group and BAG-1 siRNA-α group (A value:0.59 ±0.09 vs.0.94±0.12,0.90± 0.11,0.91± 0.14,P < 0.01);the cell apoptosis rate was obviously higher in BAG-1 siRNA-β than that in the above three groups [(34.63 ± 3.46)% vs.(14.83 ± 3.75)%,(19.93 ± 6.49)%,(16.40± 1.18)%,all P < 0.01].There were no statistically significant differences in the HSP70 protein level and mRNA transcription level between BAG-1 siRNA-3 grroup, and the cell control group, lentivirus control group and BAG-1 siRNA-α group respectively (all P > 0.05).Conclusion BAG-1 gene can play a role in protection of hypoxia nerve cells, reduce the apoptosis, and its protective effect can be independent of HSP70 gene.

Objective To explore the feasibility and accuracy of dual-source computed tomography(DSCT)coronary angiography for evaluation the morphology and motion of aortic valve. Methods A total of 125 cases with suspected coronary artery disease un-derwent computed tomography coronary angiography and transthoracic echocardiography examination.Twenty CT data sets were re-constructed in 5% steps from 0% to 95% of R-R interval. The morphologic features, changes of motion and image quality of the aortic valve in cardiac cycle were observed and recorded with CT dynamic cine-mode technique. The differences of aortic opening area in the various phases of the systole were analyzed by using ANOVA.Results 92.3% of aortic valve images among the total 2500 phases were good enough for evaluated in the 125 patients examined.DSCT visualized 123 patients with tricuspid aortic valve while 2 patients with bicuspid aortic valve.27 patients with degenerative aortic valve disease were identified.CT correctly identified 26 patients with aor-tic insufficiency during diastole.Compared with TTE,3 patients were false positives and two patients were false negatives on DSCT. Aortic valve opening was seen in phase 0% to 35% in 92% of patients, and it was closed during phase 40% to 95% of R-R interval in 75.2% of patients. There were significant difference between the AVA in the various phases of the systole(F =2.97,P <0.05). Conclusion DSCT allows accurate and dynamic visualization of morphology and motion of aortic valve throughout the cardiac cycle. The area of the aortic opening is widest and image quality is best during midsystole.

0.05 ). After once injection both observers considered the number of clearly recognized endocardial border segments increased significantly. The number evaluated by observers A increased from 2.68 ? 0.95 to 5.99 ? 0.10 while from 2.82 ? 1.03 to 5.99 ? 0.11 by observers B( P 0.05 ). The average contrast enhancement rate of LV endocardial border was 99.7 %. Perfluoropropane-albumin microsphere injection had no significant effection on vital signs such as blood prssure, heart rate and respiration. Electrocardiogram didn′t change markedly and the variance of the laboratory findings like blood and urine routine examination, hepatic and renal function was in normal range. Only one case( 0.33 %) had slight side-effects who suffered from mild nausea and diarrhea, which suggested the clinical safety of this contrast agent. Conclusions Perfluoropropane-albumin microsphere injection could enhance the resolution of LV endocardial borders and make the judgement of regional myocardial movement easier. It has little side-effects and will be appropriate for clinical use.
