Objective:To explore the closed fog mirror in evaluation of velopharyngeal incompetence. Methods:A self-developed closed fog mirror was and used to evaluate for the velopharyngeal compentence and to determine the extent of velopharyngeal compentence according to the map on the fog mirror from nasal air emission and to grade the velopharyngeal compentence from the shape and size of the fog on the mirror. Then choose the right treatment method: speech therapy or pharyngoplasty. Results:The closed-fog-mirror determined different types of velopharyngeal compentence. Conclusion:The closed fog mirror is simple and objective in evaluation of velopharyngeal incompetence.

Objective To compare the results of clinical treatment of shoulder and neck pain in patients with and without upper cervical degeneration. Methods Fifty two patients with diagnosed shoulder and neck muscular fasciitis(with high tension and tenderness on the trapezius) were divided into 3 groups: group A,with upper cervical degeneration(16 cases);group B,with upper cervical degeneration(15 cases),and group C,without cervical degeneration(21 cases). There were no significant difference in gender, age and course of disease among the 3 groups.Patients in 3 groups were regularly treated by naprapathy and electric therapy(intermediate frequency).Cervical traction and manipulation was added to the patients in group A.Treatment for 3 groups lasted for 2 weeks. The Visual Analog Scale(VAS) scores and Odom criteria before and after treatment were used for determining the results of clinical treatment. Results The VAS scores after treatment were significantly improved in group A and group C as compared with that in group B(P=0.000).Odom criteria of group A(93.8%) and group C(95.2%) were excellent and good without significant difference(P=0.692),but they were significantly higher than that of group C(P=0.001). Conclusions Patients with shoulder and neck pain accompanied by upper cervical degeneration(narrowing of intervertebral foramen) should be treated with cervical traction and manipulation beside the routine therapy.

Objective To study the hope level in patients with high-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasm and to explore its related factors. Methods 83 cases of patients with high-risk gestational trophoblastic neoplasm were collected and investigated with Herth Hope Scale,Social Support Rating Scale (SSRS) and self-designed questionnaire. The results underwent analysis. Results The hope level of most patients underwent investigation was at the moderate level, among which the positive attitude for future and reality scored (10.80 ± 1.77),adopting positive action scored (10.30 ± 2.36),keeping close relationship with others scored (9.63 ± 2.13),the total scored (30.74 ± 4.82).The hope oevel was positively correlated with rigor personality (r=0.254),but negatively correlated with neuroticism (r=0.237),the difference was statistically significant. Conclusions The hope level of patients with high-risk gestational tropoblastic neoplasm is above the moderate level and is correlated with many factors.Doctors and nurses should evaluate carefully enough and take nursing measures to improve the hope level and life quality.

Objective To investigate the relationship between the maternal nutritional stetus and the occurrence of intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) with neonatal visual development disorder Methods Sixty pregnant women closed to expected date of confinement were randomly divided into 2 groups: IUGR and normal control group, each were with 30 cases Eight kinds of nutritional foods taken by the pregnant women were investigated and scored The vitamin A concentrations of maternal and umbilical blood were measured with fluorometer method The concentrations of iron, copper and zinc in maternal and umbilical blood were detected by spectrophotometer The results of examination with Flash visual evoked potentials (F VEP) were recorded by an experienced technician in neonates at 3~7 days after birth and 10 months after follow up Results Compared with the normal control, the IUGR group had taken less eggs, animal liver and fat pork during pregnancy ( P

Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2010;26(6):536-539
ObjectiveTo measure the changes of eye shape and axial length of the eyeball before and after removing the scleral encircling buckles. MethodsThis is a prospective and controlled study. Twenty eyes (20 patients) with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment and the fellow eyes were enrolled in this study. All patients underwent scleral encircling buckling, and the buckles were removed 2.0 - 3.5 years after the surgery. The eye shape and axial length of both eyes were measured by three-dimensional computed tomography (3D-CT) before and one, three, six months after the removing surgery. The axial length was also measured by intraocular lens (IOL)-Master. Results3D-CT showed that buckled eyeball depressed at the equator, resulting in a gourd-shaped eyeball. One month after removing the encircling buckle the depression disappeared.By 3D-CT scanning, the axial lengths of buckled eyes were (27.65 ± 1.22),(27. 3±1.56), (27. 29 ± 1.46) and (27. 12 ± 1.49) mm before and one, three, six months after the removing surgery respectively. The difference betweenbefore and after removing surgery was not statistically significant(t=2.89, P = 0.723). By IOL-Master, the axial length of operated eyes were (28. 32± 1.94), (28.17± 1.87), (28.21± 1.94), (28.25± 1.93) mm respectively. The difference between before and after removing the encircling band was not statistically significant (t = 3. 304, P =0.93). There was no significant difference in these two measuring modes (t= 3.705, P = 0.847).ConclusionsEncircling buckling can cause eyeball indentation, removing the encircling band can rescue the indentation. There are no changes in the axial length before and after removing the encircling buckles.

Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 2004;0(05):-
Objective To observe the alteration of scavenger receptor class A types Ⅰand Ⅱ (SR-AⅠ/Ⅱ) gene knock-out on lipid metabolism in mice fed with high-fat diet, and explore the underlying mechanism. Method The SR-AⅠ/Ⅱgene knock-out and wild-type male mice were fed with normal and high-fat diet for 12 w. Thereafter, the level of lipid metabolism (such as the levels of lipids in blood and liver) was detected with enzyme method or oil red O staining, and the expression of scavenger receptor class B typeⅠ(SR-BⅠ) and CD36 in liver was analyzed by RT-PCR. Results Under high-fat diet condition, as compared with wild-type mice, the levels of TG, TC, LDL and HDL in SR-AⅠ/Ⅱgene knock-out mice were decreased at 3, 6, 12 w (P0.05). Conclusion The alteration of lipid metabolism induced by high-fat diet in SR-AⅠ/Ⅱgene knock-out mice might be relative with the up-regulated SR-BⅠmRNA expression and the counter transport of peripheral lipids to liver.

Objective To investigate the treatment effect of atorvastatin in patients with soft carotid atherosclerotic plaques using contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS).Methods Sixty patients with acute cerebral infarction and soft carotid atherosclerotic plaques were divided into two groups:high-dose atorvastatin treatment group(40 mg daily)and control group without atorvastatin treatment. The same soft carotid plaque in each patient was examined before and after 3-months'treatment respectively using CEUS.The parameters of CEUS were compared between pretherapy and post-treatment,including arrived time (AT),time to peak(TTP),peak intensity(PI),based intensity(BI)and enhanced intensity(EI,EI=PI-BI).Results EI of carotid plaques in treatment group was decreased significantly than that in control group after three months'treatment(P<0.05).While the difference of EI in control group has no significance between pre-therapy and post-treatment(P>0.05). Conclusions The neovascularization in soft carotid plaques was reduced after 3-months'treatment of a high dose atorvastatin.CEUS can be used to evaluate the effect of atorvastatin in treatment of soft carotid plaques.
