Journal of Environment and Health 1989;0(06):-
Objective To study the effects of di-butyltin dilaurate (DBTD) exposure on pregnancy outcome in Wistar rat and evaluate it's effect on sexual development of fetuses. Methods Timed pregnancy rats were treated with corn oil or DBTD (10, 20, 30 mg/kg body weight) from days 12-19 of gestation. On gestational day (GD) 20, dams were sacrificed to investigate the pregnancy outcome. Results There was a downtrend in weight of dams on GD20 as the DBTD exposure dose increased. The weight of dam's utero significantly decreased in 30 mg/kg group. A significant decrease in fetal weights was observed in all DBTD groups, and fetal sizes in 20, 30 mg/kg groups. Exposure to DBTD from GD 12-19 resulted in a distinct increase in normalized anogenital distances in female fetuses, but no effects were seen in male ones. DBTD exposure did not result in external malformations, however, delayed ossification of fetal phalanges was observed in all DBTD treated groups. Dead fetuses and absorbed embryos were observed in 20, 30 mg/kg DBTD groups. Conclusion The results of the present paper show that DBTD exposure has some adverse effects on fetal development and may exert a masculinizing effect on female fetuses.

OBJECTIVE:To optimize Azelastine hydrochloride (AH) thermosensitive in-situ gel nasal drops formulation. METHODS:Using poloxamer 407(P407)and poloxamer 188(P188)as excipients,AH thermosensitive in-situ gel was prepared by cold solution method. The formulation was optimized by central composite design-response surface methodology using the amount of P407 and P188(g/100 ml)as factors and phase-transition temperature as index. Binomial expression was fitted, and pre-dicted and measured values were compared. RESULTS:The correlation coefficient R2 fitted by binomial expression was equal to 0.986 5. The optimal formulation was as follows as P407 for 20.414 4%,P188 for 5.035 4%,measured value of(30.81±0.02)℃, predicted values of 31 ℃,deviation of 0.61%. CONCLUSIONS:AH thermosensitive in-situ gel nasal drops formulation is opti-mized by central composite design-response surface methodology.

Chinese Journal of Geriatrics 2024;43(3):378-383
Objective:To investigate the relationship between oral health and mild cognitive impairment(MCI)by using indicators that evaluate oral hypofunction. Methods:The study was conducted using a cross-sectional design.Participants were recruited from three communities(Shizi Ling, Wenyi Xincun, and Yaoling in Furong District)in Changsha in July 2021, using convenience sampling.Cognitive and oral functions were evaluated using the simple mental state examination, version 2(MMSE-2)and seven indicators of oral hypofunction, which included oral hygiene, oral dryness, occlusal force, tongue and lip movement, tongue pressure, mastication, and swallowing function. Results:A total of 144 subjects were included in this study, with 72 males.Except for education level, there were no statistically significant differences between the MCI group and the normal cognitive group in terms of demographic information and self-reported and measured oral functions(all P>0.05).There was a correlation between the subjects' self-reported oral function and the actual measured oral function.Multiple linear regression analysis revealed no significant correlation between the MMSE score and the seven indicators used to measure oral hypofunction(all P>0.05).The MMSE score of the female group showed a negative correlation with mastication( β=-0.003, P=0.043), while the MMSE score of subjects with elementary school education also showed a negative correlation with mastication( β=-0.022, P=0.016).Additionally, the MMSE score of subjects with middle school education showed a positive correlation with the number of residual teeth( β=0.090, P=0.030). Conclusions:The self-reported oral function can serve as an initial assessment of overall oral function. However, among elderly individuals who do not show significant decline in oral function, there was no significant correlation between oral function and MCI.To accurately identify individuals with MCI, a more detailed sub-analysis with a larger sample size is required.

Objective:To study the combined use of neoadjuvant chemotherapy and immunotherapy in patients with borderline resectable pancreatic cancer. Methods:The clinical data of patients with pancreatic cancer who were planned to undergo perioperative treatment before surgical treatment at the Fifth Medical Center of PLA General Hospital from January 2019 to June 2021 were retrospectively studied. Of 22 patients with pancreatic cancer, there were 10 males and 12 females, aged (56.0±10.2) years old. Preoperative treatment with chemotherapy (nab-paclitaxel and S-1, AS) and immunotherapy regimen before surgery were given. The baseline characteristics, treatment efficacy, surgical pathology and prognosis were analyzed. Results:Of 22 patients who were treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy combined with programmed death-1 (PD-1) monoclonal antibody, 11 patients (50%) had tumors in the head, neck and uncinated process of pancreas. On radiographic assessment, one patient achieved CR (4.5%, 1/22), 9 patients PR (40.9%, 9/22), and 11 patients SD (50.0%, 11/22). All patients subsequently underwent R 0 resection. The postoperative pTNM staging showed 91% (20/22) of patients were in stage IA-IIB, 31.8% (7/22) of patients had pT2, 63.6% (14/22) had N0, and 1 patient had pCR. Thirteen patients (54.2%, 13/22) received postoperative adjuvant therapy. The median recurrence-free survival (RFS) was 6.4 months and the median time to progression (TTP) was 12.8 months. The median overall survival of patients was not reached. Postoperative pathology TNM staging IIA to III ( HR=3.63, 95% CI: 1.18-11.20, P=0.025) and postoperative pathology T2-3 stage ( HR=2.02, 95% CI: 1.01-5.05, P=0.049) were significantly associated with RFS. Postoperative pathology TNM stages IIA to III ( HR=2.39, 95% CI: 1.04-5.50, P=0.041) and postoperative pathology T2-3 stage ( HR=2.53, 95% CI: 1.26-5.09, P=0.009) were significantly associated with TTP. Conclusion:AS combined with PD-1 monoclonal antibody showed good efficacy as a neoadjuvant therapy for patients with borderline-resectable pancreatic cancer.
