Objective To explore the correlations between emotions and self-concept in patients with traumatic brain injury. Method The Chinese version of the Positive and Negative Affect Scale and the Tennessee Self-Concept Scale was used to test 178 patients with traumatic brain injury.Results The mean scores on positive and negative emotions were (1.93±0.53) and (2.76±0.61), respectively. The mean score on self-concept was (2.45±0.31). The positive emotions of patients were positively correlated with the level of self-concept and the negative emotions negatively with the level of self-concept (r=0.437and -0.363respectively,bothP<0.01). Conclusions For patients with traumatic brain injury,the negative emotions outnumber the positive emotions and their self-concept was at lower level. Nurses should take measures to improve their positive emotions and reduce their negative emotions in order to improve their self-concept level.

Eighteen cases(20 ears) of sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss in children had been reviewed. The results showed that the course of disease was longer before the patients receieved treatment. There may be a relationship between sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss in children and viral infection of upper respiratory or parotitis. The effect of treatment was similar to adults. DF-521 was effective and safe for sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss in children.

Objective To investigate the correlation between sTREM-1 and inflammatory factors expression in critical patients and its effect on severity of disease and clinical prognosis .Methods sTREM-1 ,TNF-α,IL-6 ,IL-10 levels were checked in serum of 54 patients who admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) on the first day and only sTREM-1 was checked again on the third day .At the same time ,APACHEⅡand survival situation in 28 days were recorded .Results sTREM-1 level in critical patients was positive correlated with TNF-α,IL-6 and APACHEⅡ(P<0 .01) .There was positive correlation between APACHE Ⅱ and TNF-α,IL-6 ,but pearson correlation coefficient between sTREM-1 and APACHE Ⅱ was higher than TNF-α,IL-6 .Compared with the survivor group ,the concentrations of serum sTREM-1 was significantly higer in non-survivor group on the first day and the third day after entering ICU(P<0 .05) .Conclusion sTREM-1 level is positive correlated with inflammatory reaction and the severity of disease .It also has prognostic value for outcome in patients with critical illness .

Objective To study whether osteoblast is necessary for IGF-Ⅰ to promote bone resorption by osteoclast.Methods Mouse MC3T3 osteoblast cells and mature osteoclasts induced by RANKL were cultured in vitro.These osteoblasts and osteoclasts were subjected to treatment with recombinant human insulin-like growth factor-1 (rhIGF-Ⅰ),and the activation of IGF-Ⅰ receptor was verified by Western blotting.Thereafter,osteoclasts were cultured individually or co-cultured with osteoblast,in the absence or presence of rhIGF-Ⅰ.Osteoclast proliferation and apoptosis were observed by MTT colorimetric assay and flow cytometry.Cathepsin K gene expression was detected by real-time PCR; bone adsorption activity of osteoclast was determined by resorption pits formation on calf cortex slice with toluidine blue staining.Results Western blotting result confirmed that rhIGF-Ⅰ could effectively activate IGF-Ⅰ receptors either in osteoblast or osteoclast.In co-cultured group,in the presence of rhIGF-Ⅰ osteoclast showed inhibited apoptosis,enhanced proliferation and up-regulated cathepsin K expression (P ＜ 0.05).The functional experiment revealed that osteoclasts collected from IGF-Ⅰ treated co-cultured group resulted in more resorption pits formation (P ＜ 0.05); rhIGF-Ⅰ did not show any significant effect on the individually cultured osteoclasts.Conclusion Osteoblast is necessary for osteoclast induced bone resorption resulting from IGF-Ⅰ treatment.

Objective:Identification of some biochemical and physical properties for a new recombinant B7-2-PE40KDEL exotoxin fusion protein.Methods:12%SDS-PAGE separating and gel imaging analyzing,peptide mass fingerprinting,Western blot and MTT assasying were used respectively for identification of the protein.Results:Molecular weight of the recombinant B7-2-PE40KDEL was 72 628,5% of the difference to its theoretical value 69 561.The result of Western blot indicated that the purified recombinant B7-2-PE40KDEL could specifically bind with mAb anti-human B7-2 and the antibody against PEA,while the negative control did not.The recombinant B7-2-PE40KDEL digested with trypsin and then detected by MOLTI-TOF-MS.It was shown that the detected 15 peptides lied in the extracellular part of B7-2 and the truncated Pseudomonas extoxin PE40KDEL.Searching in the peptident data bank of Expasy website,we did not find any known proteins which was accordant with the above terms.The cytotoxic activity of the recombinant toxin with MTT method showed that the B7-2-PE40KDEL selectively killed Jurkat cell line which expressesed CD28 receptor well and had no killing effect on the Raji cell line unexpressing CD28 receptor.Conclusion:Recombinant B7-2-PE40KDEL exotoxin fusion protein we construct proves to be a new one with targeted killing bioactivity to B7:CD28 system.

BACKGROUND: Silibinin has broad pharmaceutical effects, such as anti-free radicals, anti-lipid peroxidation, anti-lipoid oxidase, anti-glutathione (GSH) depletion, anti-neoplastic and serum lipid-lowering effects. Clinically, silibinin is often used in treating alcoholic liver disease. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the pharmacological mechanism of silibinin for alcoholic fatty liver in rats. DESIGN: Randomized and controlled study.SETTING: Guangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine.MATERIALS: The experiment was conducted at the Animal Experimental Laboratory of Guangdong Pharmaceutical Institute from August to October 2003. Totally 57 SD rats, without unusual bacteria, weighting (150±10)g and of either gender, were selected. Yiganling tablets containing 38.5 mg silibinin were produced by Zhuzhou No.3 Pharmaceutical Factory (Batch No. 20020808).METHODS: Among the 57 SD rats, 18 rats were regarded as normal control group. Rats in normal control group were administered with normal saline by gavage, and fed with normal food and distilled water in place of alcohol for 10 weeks. Rats in model group and silibinin group were fed with high-calorie food and 100 mL/L alcohol for 6 weeks to establish model of rat alcoholic fatty liver. The other rats were divided into model control group (n=18) and silibinin group (n=21). Rats in model control group were treated with distilled water while those in silibinin group were treated with 100 mg/kg silibinin. Meanwhile, 100 mL/L ethanol and hyperalimentation feed were given for 4 weeks. After animals were killed, TG, SOD, GSH and MDA levels were measured with liver suspension.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Contents of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (AKP), total cholesterol (TC), triacylglycerol (TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α , and transforming growth factor (TGF)-β1.RESULTS: All the 57 rats entered the final analysis. Silibinin could inhibit the activities of serum AST, ALT and AKP [(2 550.5±400.1), (533.4±100.0), (2 217.1±750.2)nkat/L], and the differences were significant as compared with those in model control group [(3 600.7±666.8), (800.2±100.0), (2 900.6±1 333.6) nkat/L, P ＜ 0.05-0.01]. Contents of TG, LDL-C, TNF-α and TGF-β1 in silibinin group [(1.8±0.8), (0.17±0.04), (6.66±1.38), (24.1±4.1) mmol/L] were lower than those in model group [(2.8±1.4), (0.20±0.05), (7.81±1.06), (28.8±6.3) mmol/L] with significant differences (P ＜ 0.05-0.01). Silibinin could increase the content of HDL-C but decrease the contents of TG and MDA (P ＜ 0.05-0.01), and improve SOD activity as well as hepatocyte and fatty degeneration (P ＜ 0.01).However, it had no obvious effect on the content of reduced estathion (P ＞ 0.05).CONCLUSION: Silibinin can inhibitthe formation of alcoholic fatty liver in rats. The pharmacological mechanism of silibinin may involve anti-oxidation, removing free radicals, inhibiting lipid peroxidation, regulating blood lipid component, reducing fatty sediment in liver, and anti-immunoinflammation and anti-hyperplasia effects.

Objective To reversing methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus(MRS) to methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus(MSS) by changing nutritional conditions and continuous transfer of culture .Methods MRS trains separating from clinical specimens were cultured in different conditions ,continuous cultural transfer ,and drug sensitive test were proceeded periodically to observe the phe-notypic and chemical reaction change of MRS .The mecA gene were detected of the original and mutant strains by polymerase chain reaction(PCR) ,then the gene sequenced and compared .Results 53 MRS strains were studied .6 strains were phenotype successful-ly converted to MSS in different cultural conditions ,among them mecA gene was undetected in 2 strains ,and down expressed in 4 strains .Conclusion The MRS strains separated from clinical specimens may revert to MSS by culture under different nutritional conditions .The mecA gene of MRS may be lost or lower expressed and the MRS and mutant strains may be different in genomics .

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the change of serum myeloperoxidase (MPO) and lipoxin A4 (LXA4) in coronary heart disease (CHD) patients with anxiety and depression and its clinical significance. METHODS: From December 2010 to February 2011, 143 CHD patients and 44 non-CHD patients (the control group) hospitalized in the Department of Cardiology at the Second Xiangya Hospital were enrolled. The hospital anxiety and depression scale (HADS) was used to evaluate the psychological state of all patients and the CHD patients were assigned to an anxiety and depression group (n=57) or a non-depression and anxiety group (n=86). The serum levels of high sensitive C-reactive protein (Hs-CRP), MPO, and LXA4 were examined, and the ratio of MPO and LXA4 (M/L) was calculated. RESULTS: The levels of Hs-CRP, MPO, and LXA4 as well as M/L ratios in both CHD groups were significantly higher than those in the control group (all P<0.01). Compared with the non-anxiety and depression group, the levels of MPO and LXA4, and M/L ratios in the anxiety and depression group increased (all P<0.05). Correlation analysis showed that MPO was positively correlated with the score of HADS-total (HADS-t), HADS-anxiety (HADS-a), or HADS-depression (HADS-d), while LXA4 was negatively correlated with HADS-t or HADS-d. Multiple ordinal logistic regression analysis revealed that higher HADS-t score, stable angina, unstable angina, and acute myocardial infarction were the independent impact factors for the elevation of M/L ratio. CONCLUSION Anxiety and depression may aggravate the inflammatory response in CHD patients. The imbalance between inflammation and anti-inflammation may be part of the mechanism.

Objective: To understand the knowledge, attitudes and practices of drinking water among college students of Hebei Province, to provide evidence for health education. Methods: A total of 715 subjects were selected from a university in Baoding City, Hebei Province in March 2017 by random cluster sampling. Knowledge, attitude and behavior of drinking water among college students were investigated by self-designed questionnaires. Results: The awareness rate of water consumption of 1 500-1 700 mL was 19.0%, the awareness rate of drinking modes was 95.0%, the awareness rate of suitable drinking time was 30.1%, the awareness rate on drinking water was higher among girls and medical major sutdents (χ2=22.16, 12.49, P<0.05); the awareness rate on the relationship between insufficient drinking water and stroke, hypertension and coronary heart disease was generally low, with sophornore higher than freshman (χ2=11.10, P<0.05). The most common medium for accessing drinking water knowledge among the respondents was network (60.0%), followed by campus publicity/classroom teaching (48.3%). 99.6% of the respondents believed that drinking water was important to health, 98.3% were willing to change their drinking habits, 93.0% were willing to pay attention to drinking water education, and the proportion of female students was higher than that of male students (χ2=5.46, 6.49, 8.01, P<0.05). In real life, 48.4% of the respondents drank water on an empty stomach in the morning and 40.7% before going to bed. 45.5% of the respondents drank water when they thought of it. Conclusion College students in Hebei province are generally lack of appropriate awareness on water drinking, which varied in sex, grade and major. While the attitude towards water drinking is satisfactory, drinking behavior need to be improved.

Objective To explore the influencing factors of sub-health status among the migrant workers in Dongguan City.Methods A total of 740 migrant workers in Dongguan city were extracted by the stratified random sampling method.The SubHealth Measurement Scale Version 1.0(SHMS V 1.0) was adopted to test the health status.The data were analyzed by Logistic regression analysis.Results The univariate analysis showed that the marital status,average daily working time,monthly family per capita income,living conditions,drinking,breakfast,nutritional status,vigils,living conditions satisfaction,sedentary desk operation and experiencing negative events had statistical significance(P＜0.05).In the Logistic regression analysis:average daily working time,vigils and experiencing negative events were the risk factors of sub-health status occurrence,their odds ratio(OR) and 95 ％ confidence interval(CI)were 1.971(1.211,3.205),2.183(1.378,3.459) and 2.135(1.353,3.369),respectively.Breakfast and nutritional status were the protective factors of sub-health status occurrence,their OR and 95 ％ CI were 0.706 (0.526,0.947) and 0.386(0.239,0.625),respectively.Conclusion The unhealthy living habits and experiencing negative events affect the health of migrant workers in Dongguan City.
