Recent studies have shown that the loss-of-function LKB1 mutations occur in approximately 30% of human non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). Studies from lung cancer animal models have demonstrated that functional loss of LKB1 dramatically promotes lung cancer invasion and progression, underscoring the essential role of LKB1 as a potent tumor suppressor involved in lung cancerigenesis, differentiation and metastasis. However, the relationship between loss-of-function LKB1 mutations and lung cancer prognosis remain largely unclear, therefore, we summarized the progress of the research on LKB1.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of total glucosides of paeony combined with ebastine for the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria.Methods A randomized,open-labeled,positive drugcontrolled,parallel-group study was carried out.Sixty patients with chronic idiopathic urticaria were randomly divided into two groups using a random digit table:combined group treated with total glucosides of paeony 600 mg thrice daily combined with ebastine 10 mg per day,control group treated with ebastine 10 mg per day only.The treatment lasted 12 weeks followed by a four-week follow-up.Adverse reactions were recorded and treatment efficacy was evaluated by using urticaria activity score over seven days (UAS7).Results The UAS7 was 9.28 ±4.59,5.83 ± 4.44 and 7.52 ± 5.57 in the combined group on week 8,12 after the initiation of treatment and week 4 after the withdrawal of treatment,respectively,significantly lower than that in the control group at the three time points (13.29 ± 4.72,P ＜ 0.05; 9.86 ± 5.46,P ＜ 0.01; 16.21 ± 5.34,P ＜ 0.01).Significant differences were observed in the response rate between the combined group and control group at the end of the 12-week treatment (75.9％ vs.42.9％,x2 =4.56,P ＜ 0.05).There was a decreased recurrence rate in the combined group combined with the control group at the end of the follow-up (13.6％ vs.50.0％,x2 =3.90,P ＜0.05).No obvious adverse reactions were noted in either of the two groups.Conclusion Total glucosides of paeony could markedly enhance the efficacy of ebastine for the treatment of chronic idiopathic urticaria with a reduction in recurrence rate.

Objective To summary the clinical characteristics of epileptic spasm(ES)that is the unique form of seizures in childhood. Methods A total of 149 patients with ES who visited our hospital from May 2009 to June 2015 were collected. The documents of clinical data, treatment and outcome were analyzed retrospectively. The statistical analysis of some clinical characteristics and prognosis of patients were performed. Results There were 97(65.1%) male and 52 (34.9%) female in the 149 patients. The onset age of ES was from 30 days to 42 months (median value was 6 months) including 17 patients more than 12 months.The peak age of onset was 4-7 months. One hundred and forty-seven patients manifested clustered spasm. One pair of twins showed single spasm.Other types of seizure were seen before ES onset in 13 (8.7%) patients, and after ES onset in 42 (28.2%) patients.Eighty-three patients (55.7%) were diagnosed as West syndrome (WS). There were 46 patients (30.9%) with cryptogenic cause, 103 patients (69.1%) diagnosed with symptomatic epilepsy, in which 69 patients were with a clear cause. The proportions of developmental delay in the cryptogenic and symptomatic patients were 74.5% and 92.2% after the onset of the ES. The degree of developmental delay was linearly related to the course of ES. The hyperarrhythmia of electroencephalogram (EEG) background was seen in 122 patients (81.9%), and there was no significant difference in hyperarrhythmia between different etiology groups or different onset age groups. The short-term efficiency of topiramate evaluated within one month was 30.5% in 59 newly diagnosed patients. The short-term effective rate of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) was 80.3% in total 76 patients, but single ACTH treatment was associated with an increased recurrent rate. Conclusion ES is a highly age dependent seizure type that mainly found in WS,which typically follows a EEG hyperarrhythmia and developmental delay. The treatment of ES is difficult. ACTH combined with effective antiepileptic drugs (AEDS) is currently the most reasonable drug treatment program.

Objective To investigate the clinical application value of ductoscopic flushing in the treatment of early lactation acute mastitis.Methods 52 patients with early acute mammitis were divided into observation group (27 cases)and control group(25 cases)according to the principle of completely random.In the observation group, the patients were checked under the intervention of mammary duct firstly,and then the disease regions of the breast were flushed using ductoscope.In the control group,the patients were treated with artificial breast -milk.The two groups were all treated with the same antibiotics.The curative effect of the two groups was observed,and the statistical analysis was performed.Results In the observation group,the mass extinction time,pain relief time,pyretolysis time, hemogram recovery time,contralateral continued breast -feeding proportion,the proportion of abscess formation,the proportion of back -milk,the proportion of ipsilateral quadrant recurrence were (3.5 ±1.2)h,(5.0 ±0.9)h, (1.0 ±0.1)d,(1.0 ±0.3)d,92.6%,7.4%,7.4%,0.0% respectively,those in the control group were (24.0 ± 3.2)h,(2.0 ±2.1)h,(2.0 ±0.2)d,(3.0 ±0.3)d,88.0%,12.0%,12.0%,8.0% respectively.The differences between the two groups were statistically significant(t =1.72,0.36,0.43,0.72,χ2 =1.83,2.02,1.56,0.34,all P <0.05).Conclusion Ductoscopic flushing has good effect in the treatment of early lactation acute mastitis,and it is worthy of clinical promotion.

Objective To investigate the value of CT scans in differential diagnosis of thyroid neoplasm.Methods CT findings ofthyroid neoplasm in 29 cases including 8 cases thyroid adenoma,4 cases nodular goiter and 17 cases thyroid carcinoma identified by operation and pathology were analyzed retrospectively.Results The contour of thyroid adenoma was distinct,a completely enhanced ring in 5 cases and enhanced nodules in 3 cases were showed on contrast-enhanced scan.4 cases of nodular goiter showed homogenous cystic low density the lesions were localized and distinct in contour,the cystic wall could be seen.Thyroid carcinoma appeared unhomogenous density,the edges contour of lesion was not distinct and infiltration on adjacent tissue might be seen.Conclusion CT scan might play an important role in diagnosis and differential diagnosis of thyroid neoplasm.

Objective To determine the effect of bacille Calmette-Guerin-polysaccharide nucleic acid (BCG/PSN)on 2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene(DNCB)-induced atopic dermatitis-like skin lesions in Nc/Nga mice.Methods Fifteen mice were randomly and equally classified into 3 groups,i.e.,control group receiving topical acetone on foot pad and abdomen and intraperitoneal injection of physiological saline,model group receiving topical 5% DNCB solution and intraperitoneal injection of physiological saline,treatment group receiving 5% DNCB solution and intraperitoneal iniection of BCG/PSN,and all drugs were used every other day for 7 weeks.Further more,0.1% DNCB was topically applied on the ear and neck of Nc/Nga mice once a week from week 2 to week 7.The effects of BCG/PSN were evaluated by ear thickness,skin histopathology and immunological parameters.Results Repeated application of DNCB caused the development of eczematous dermatitis in mice.Mice in model group chnieally manifested skin dryness,erythema,edema and erosion with histopathological changes including dermal and epidermal thickening,hyperkeratosis,and inflammatory infiltration.The serum levels of IL-4 and IrE in model group were significantly higher than those in control group[(174.72±12.64)μg/L vs (17.32±3.56)μg/L,(91.49±6.32)ng/L vs (83.95±6.63)ng/L,both P<0.05].Increased serum IL-12 and IFN-γ and decreased serum IgE were observed in treatment group compared with the model group[(122.10±4.64)ng/L vs (20.14±6.15)ng/L(73.89±2.39)ng/L vs (51.53±3.45)ng/L, (84.27±9.35)μg/L vs (174.72±12.64)μg/L, all P<0.05].Conclusion BCG/PSN might be beneficial for the treatment of atopie dermatitis-like skin lesions in Nc/Nga mice by enhancing the secretion of IL-12 and IFN-γ and suppressing the synthesis of IgE.

Objective:To analyze the incidence trend, current status and survival period of young patients with lung cancer aged from 15 to 44 years in Shanghai between 2002 to 2005. Methods:All the data were collected from the database of registration and ma-nagement system of diagnosed cancer cases in Shanghai city organized by Shanghai Municipal Center for Disease Control & Prevention. The incidence trend was analyzed by using APC(annual percent change)model. The survival period and median survival time were calculated by using SPSS 12.0 software and life table method. The univariate and multivariate analyses were analyzed by using Kaplan-Meier and COX regression model, respectively.Results:A total of 972 young patients with lung cancer who aged from 15 to 44 years were diagnosed in Shanghai between 2002 and 2005, accounting for 3.09% of the whole percentage of adenocarcinoma in young patients was higher than that in whole lung cancer population at the same period, while the TNM stage was not significantly different between male and female young patients. Multivariate analysis demonstrated that gender, pathological classification and TNM stage were independent prognostic factors for young patients with lung cancer. Conclusion:The lung cancer had different characteristics in young patients compared with that in whole lung cancer population in Shanghai city. It was necessary to further investigate the biologic behavior of lung cancer in young patients.

ObjectiveTo observe the effects of hypoxia inducible factor-1 alpha (HIF-1α)-targeting small interfering RNA(siRNA) on the expression of HIF-1α and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in HaCaT ceils under hypoxic conditions. MethodsHaCaT cells were cultured and divided into four groups, normal control group (without any treatment), hypoxia group (cultured under hypoxic conditions for 24 hours),liposome control group (transfected with liposome followed by hypoxic culture for 24 hours), RNA interference group (transfected with HIF-1α-targeting siRNA/liposome complexes followed by hypoxic culture for 24 hours). Fluorescence real-time quantitative PCR was utilized to determine HIF-1oα and VEGF mRNA expression in HaCaT cells, and Western blot to detect HIF-1α and VEGF protein expression. ResultsNo significant difference was observed in the mRNA expression of HIF-1α between the hypoxia group and normal control group(0.907 ± 0.032 vs. 0.878 ± 0.034, F =1.108, P ＞ 0.05), while the expression levels of VEGF mRNA,HIF-1α and VEGF proteins were significantly higher in the hypoxia group than in the normal control group (0.935 ± 0.032 vs. 0.652 ± 0.053, 0.813 ± 0.047 vs. 0.236 ± 0.014, 0.791 ± 0.030 vs. 0.316 ± 0.013, all P ＜0.05). A significant decline was noted in the mRNA and protein expression levels of VEGF (0.230 ± 0.044 vs.0.978 ± 0.030, 0.213 ± 0.026 vs. 0.817 ± 0.049, both P ＜ 0.05) and HIF-1α(0.497 ± 0.033 vs. 0.806 ±0.040, 0.249 ± 0.028 vs. 0.833 ± 0.052, both P ＜ 0.05) in the RNA interference group than in the liposome control group. ConclusionsHypoxia may enhance the expression of HIF-1α and VEGF in HaCaT cells, and to inhibit the HIF-1α expression may suppress the expression of VEGF in HaCaT cells under hypoxia.

Objective To observe the effect of stellate ganglion block (SGB) in the treatment of peri-men-opanse syndrome of clinical efficacy. Methods 30 patients diagnosed as perimenepausal syndorme by the gynecolo-gy clinic in our hospital from February 2007 to December 2008 were selected. All patients experienced vaginal cytolo-gy and examination of blood estradiol (E2),follicle-stimulating generation Su (FSH),luteinizing hormone (LH),in line with perimenopausal syndrome and no other chronic diseases, and in the last 3 months the patients had not taken hormone treatment drugs. Anterior SGB once a day,around the turn was adopted,taking 10 times as a course of treat-ment. All patients were treated for two courses. The blood FSH, LH, E2 changes were recorded. Results Blood E<,2> in-creased from (31.29±19.36) pmol/L to (159.47±88.21) pmol/L(t=-24.976, P<0.01). FSH decreased from (54.67±19.24) U/L to (38.15±13.50) U/L (t=13.872, P<0.01), and LH dropped from (36.1± 15.6)U/L to (26.7±8.7)U/L (t=9.188,P<0.01). Conclusion SGB has the disorder and autonomic Endo-crine function to achieve a new balance because it can adjust perimenopausal autonomic nervous imbalance, so it is the effective treatment for elimination of peri-menopause syndrome.
