Objective: To study the intelligence and attention of children with amblyopia. Methods: 74 children with amblyopia and 103 normal control were evaluated with C-WISC. Their attention was also measured. Results: Compared with normal control and those slight amblyopia, some subscales and PIQ were lower in children with severe and moderate amblyopia(P

BACKGROUND:At present, percutaneous vertebroplasty has been widely used in clinical treatment of osteoporotic vertebral fractures. Considering the limitations of the underlying disease in elderly patients (> 65 years of age) at surgery, the relevant detailed studies have gradualy attracted the attention of clinicians. OBJECTIVE:To compare and analyze the clinical effects of vertebroplasty with bone cement and conventional fracture reduction for elderly osteoporotic thoracolumbar fractures. METHODS:Totaly 24 elderly patients with osteoporotic thoracolumbar fractures were voluntarily divided into bone cement treatment and conservative treatment groups (n=12 per group) and subjected to vertebroplasty with polymethylmethacrylate bone cement and conventional reduction therapy, respectively. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with the conservative treatment group, the visual analog scale scores, Oswesty dysfunction index and Cobb angle were significantly reduced in the bone cement treatment group, while the degree of anterior vertebral compression was increased. These results suggest that minimaly invasive spine treatment is conducive to improve the fracture healing and enhance the quality of life in elderly patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures in stable conditions.

Objective:To assess the effects of HEMA on the proliferation and migration of human dental pulp cells(hDPCs).Meth-ods:hDPCs were obtained using tissue explant culture technique in vitro, and then cells of the 3rd -5th passages were treated by differ-ent concentrations of HEMA for 24,48 and 72 h respectively.Cell proliferation was examined by MTT assay.Cell migration was ob-served by Transwell method. Results:The proliferation ability of hDPCs decreased when exposed to HEMA in both time and concentra-tion dependent manner(vs control,P <0.05).Cell proliferation at 24 h expossure was statistically higher than that at 48 h and 72 h(P<0.05).The migration of hDPCs was significantly reduced in HEMA groups at different concentrations(vs control,P <0.05).Con-clusion:HEMA inhibits the proliferation and migration of human dental pulp cells in vitro.

Objective:To explore the phenomenon of spontaneous regression of optic pathway glioma in children, and to improve the understanding of optic pathway glioma. Methods:The clinical data of 3 patients with spontaneous regression of optic pathway glioma in Beijing Children's Hospital of Capital Medical University from September 2012 to June 2019 were retrospectively analyzed. Results:There were 2 girls and 1 boy among the 3 patients. The median age of onset was 4 months (3-5 months), the median age of tumor regression was 10 months (8-13 months), and the interval median time from onset to tumor regression was 5 months (4-10 months). One patient was accompanied with diencephalic syndrome, and the other was accompanied with disseminated metastasis. Conclusions:The phenomenon of spontaneous regression of optic pathway glioma mostly occurs in the early childhood. Optic pathway glioma pediatric patients complicated with diencephalic syndrome or intracranial metastasis may have the possibility of tumor regression, but spontaneous regression does not mean that the symptoms can be completely improved.
