ObjectiveTo investigate the finasteride application during the off-cycle of intermittent androgen blockade (IAB) in patients with advanced prostate cancer treated with IAB.MethodsEighty-seven patients with advanced prostate cancer were divided into two groups: forty-nine patients received IAB (group A), and thirty-eight patients underwent IAB and finasteride during the off-cycle of IAB (group B). The time of treatment cycle and the time to disease progression were compared between the two groups. ResultsThe patients in group A completed 89 treatment cycles and the mean cycle length was (12.8±5.4) months [treatment time and non-treatment time were (6.6±3.5) months and (7.1±4.8) months, respectively]. The patients in group B completed 85 cycles and the mean cycle length was (15.3±5.9) months [treatment time and non-treatment time were (6.9±3.2) months and (9.2v±3.9) months, respectively]. There was a significant difference between group A and B in the mean cycle length and the non-treatment time (P=0.0428,P=0.03).The 3-year progression rate was ( 34.8±3.5 )% in group A and ( 28.4±2.7)% in groups B ( P=0.035). ConclusionsThe application of finasteride during the off-cycle of IAB in patients with advanced prostate cancer treated with intermittent androgen blockade (IAB) can delay progression of advanced prostate cancer.

Objective To investigate the problems during using, standard and quality management of the POCT glucose meters in hospital, to analyze the solutions, and to provide reference data for improving the test level of POCT in hospital. Methods The amount, brand and application of portable glucose meters in the hospital were obtained by 3 rounds of surveillance from May to July in 2013.All of those glucose meters were taken part in external quality assessment of Clinical Laboratory Center of National Health and Family Planning Commission. The test results of those glucose meters were compared with that of automatic biochemical analyzer, the comparison results were then analyzed. Results The POCT glucose meters possessed 5 brands in our hospital, and the amount and type of glucose meters in some clinical departments were often changed. When 4 brands which were detected as quality control samples by ministry of health, the accuracy of detection results of 3 concentration of brand Ⅲ were substandard, the CV% of two levels were 11.9%and 10.1%respectively, the remaining 3 brands were in line with the requirements. The qualified percentages of 3 times of comparison were 85.0%, 92.0%and 97.4%.Conclusions The hospital should select the brand of portable glucose meters reasonably, correct use of glucose meters, and it is very necessary to build indoor and interstitial quality evaluation system, at the same time, suggesting the hospital to establish the POCT quality management team, to carry out the instrument comparison periodically, so to guarantee the accurate, reliable results of POCT in hospital.

Objective To investigate the clinicopathological features and correlation between synchronous multiple early gastric cancer (SMEGC)and single early gastric cancer (EGC).Methods From January 2008 to December 2016,the clinical data of 994 patients with EGC who underwent open or laparoscopic gastrectomy surgery were collected from the electronic medical data base of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University and Xuzhou No.1 People's Hospital. The data of patients including gender, age, tumor morphologys, tumor location, tumor size, histological type, depth of invasion, lymph nodes metastasis, lymphovascular metastasis, peripheral nerve invasion, and blood types were analyzed.T test and Chi square test were used for statistical analysis. Results Among 994 EGC patients,27 cases (2.7%) were SMEGC,and 967 cases (97.3%) were single EGC.The percentage of male and female of single EGC were 71.4% (690/967) and 28.6% (277/967),respectively;the percentage of male and female of SMEGC were 88.9% (24/27) and 11.1% (3/27),respectively,and there was statistically significant difference in the gender composition ratio between single EGC and SMEGC (x2 =3.975,P=0.046).The incidence of ulcer in single EGC and SMEGC were 50.6% (489/ 967) and 29.6 % (8/27),respectively,and the difference in the incidence of ulcers between single EGC and SMEGC was statistically significant (x2 =4.653,P=0.031).There were no statistically significant differences between single EGC and SMEGC in gross morphology, depth of invasion, lymph nodes metastasis, lymphovascular metastasis, peripheral nerve invasion, tumor location, pathological type and blood types (all P>0.05).In the SMEGC patients, the incidence of main lesions invading the mucosa was 48.1% (13/27) and submucosa invasion was 51.9% (14/27);and for minor lesions, the corresponding incidences were 77.8% (21/27) and 22.2% (6/27),respectively,and the difference was statistically significant (x2 =5.063,P<0.05).There were no statistically significant differences between the main lesions and minor lesions in tumor size, pathological type, with or without ulcers, gross morphology and tumor location (all P>0.05).Conclusions The main risk factors of SMEGC are male and no ulcerative lesions. The clinicopathological features are similar between main lesions and minor lesions in SMEGC.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the therapeutic effect of nerve growth factor (NGF) on changes of myelin basic protein (MBP) and functional repair of sensory and motor nerve following sciatic nerve injury.
METHODSThe sciatic nerves of rats were injured by sectioning with shaver, and divided into 3 groups: NGF group (Group A), group of normal saline solution (Group B), untreated group (Group C). The time point of observation was at the 4th week after operation. Sensory evoked potential (SEP) and motor evoked potential (MEP) were detected by Model WD-4000 nerve potential working diagnosis system. Immunohistochemical analysis was used for identification of MBP.
RESULTSThe latency of SEP in the Group A at the 4th week after operation was shorter than that in the Group B (P<0.05). The MEP was elicited in 76% of the Group A and was higher than that in the Group B. Results of immunohistochemistry showed that there were less MBP-positive cells in the Group A than in the Group B in one and four weeks respectively.
CONCLUSIONSNGF can improve the conductive function of injured peripheral nerve and facilitate regeneration of nerve.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the apoptosis rules of the astrocytes and oligodendrocytes induced by Ca(2+) reperfusion.
METHODSThe apoptosis of purified cultured astrocytes and oligodendrocytes induced by Ca(2+) reperfusion and the relationship between the development of the cell apoptosis and post-reperfusion time was observed.
RESULTSBoth the astrocytes and oligodendrocytes were obviously in a time-dependent fashion, and the apoptosis ratios of the oligodendrocytes (39.73%+/-4.16%) were higher than the astrocytes (19.64%+/-4.67%) 24 hours after Ca(2+) reperfusion. The TUNEL positive cells were 13.6+/-1.82 and 21.4+/-1.95 at every visual field of astrocytes and oligodendrocytes respectively 24 hours after Ca(2+) reperfusion.
CONCLUSIONSThe astrocytes and oligodendrocytes are similar wi th the development rules on apoptosis and have different susceptiveness to the situation.

Chinese Journal of Trauma 2022;38(7):646-652
Tendons and bones are connected at the tendon-bone interface to transmit force and exchange biological information. However, the formation of fibrous scars after injury to the tendon-bone interface makes it difficult to recover the original structure during surgery and thus reduces its performance. Therefore, the healing of the tendon-bone interface is a hotspot in sports medicine. Numerous studies have already demonstrated that a variety of molecules and cells participate in the tendon-bone interface reconstruction process, and yet the specific mechanism remains unclear. At present, a great number of studies have been carried out on treatment methods, but clinical treatment are varied with no unification. Therefore, the authors review the advances in the biology and mechanics of healing mechanisms of tendon-bone interface as well as the main methods promoting tendon-bone interface healing, so as to provide references and new ideas for further researches on tendon-bone interface healing.
