Objective: To study the mechanism of the preventive effects of soybean isoflavones on osteoporosis. Methods: The serum collected from experimental rats given soybean isoflavones extract was added to the culture system of osteoblast cells (OB) isolated from the calvaria of neonatal SD rats. MTT assay was employed to determine cell proliferation. The activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and bone gla protein (BGP) were determined by ALP and BGP Kits. The content of IL 6 secreted by OB was determined by ELISA Kit. Results: Isoflavones could stimulate OB proliferation, elevate the activity of ALP and BGP level. They had no apparent effects on the secretion of IL 6. Conclusion: Soybean isoflavones can promote proliferation and differentation of OB in vitro and have no remarkable influence on bone absorption. The effects of soybean isoflavones on osteoporosis seem to depend on stimulation of bone formation rather than suppression of bone absorption.

Objective To compare the effect of etomidate and propofol on cardiac and renal function in perioperative elderly patients. Methods 120 perioperative elderly patients were selected and divided into two groups.60 cases in etomidate group (T group) were anesthesia induced by etomidate, and 60 cases in propofol group ( B group) were anesthesia induced by propofol.Hemodynamics, renal function and perioperative indexes were compared after operation. Results Compared with before induction, SBP, DBP and HR were lower after induction(P<0.05), and compared with T group at the same time, SBP, DBP and HR of B group were lower( P<0.05).Compared with before induction, SI, CI and EV were lower after induction (P<0.05), and compared with T group at the same time, SI, CI and EV of the B group were lower(P<0.05).Compared with B group, Cr, BUN and β2-MG of T group were lower ( P<0.05 ) .Conclusion The effects of etomidate on inhibition of cardiovascular system and damage of renal function is slighter, which has important significance for elderly cancer patients.

BACKGROUND: Obesity is serious complex disease determined by multiple genetic factors. Body mass index (BMI) is a common phenotype for obesity. Although some candidate genes have been shown to be related with BMI variation, the underlying substantial relationship remains poorly understood.OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether estrogen receptor-α (ER-α) Pvull genetic polymorphism is associated with BMI variation.METHODS: In total 390 premenopausal women from a local population of Nanchang City in Jiangxi Province People's Hospital.Body weight and height were measured. All participants were genotyped at the ER-α Pvull locus using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The ER-α Pvull genotype frequencies of PP, Pp and pp were 0.133, 0.485 and 0.382,respectively. The distribution of ER-Pvull genotypes was in accordance with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) (P > 0.05).There was no significant correlation between ER-α Pvull genetic polymorphism and BMI variation (P = 0.338). These findings indicate that ER-α Pvull genetic polymorphism does not greatly affect BMI variation of premenopausal women in Nanchang region.

BACKGROUND: Body mass index(BMI)is a commonly used phenotype for obesity, which is determined by multiple genetic factors.OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether osteocalcin(also known as bone Gla protein,BGP)Hind Ⅲ genetic polymorphism is associated with BMI variation.METHODS: A total of 390 premenopausal women from a local population of Nanchang City were selected.Body weight and height were measured. All participants were genotyped at the BGP Hind Ⅲ locus using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP).RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The BGP genotype frequencies of HH,Hh and hh were 0.077,0.408 and 0.515,respectively.The distribution of BGP Hind Ⅲ genotypes was consistent with Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium(P > 0.05).The BGP Hind Ⅲ were significantly associated with BMI(P=0.002),which could explain about 5.47% of BMI variation. On average,BMI of individuals with HH genotype was the highest[(22.81±0.73)kg/m2],individuals with Hh genotype was intermediate[(21.50±0.53)kg/m2],while individuals with hh genotype was the lowest[(20.23±0.63)kg/m2].Therefore,carriers of HH and Hh genotypes had, respectively, approximately 12.75% and 6.28% higher BMI than carriers of the hh genotype. To our best knowledge, this is the first study reporting the association of BGP Hind Ⅲ genetic polymorphism and BMI in healthy premenopausal women.

Objective To detect the expression of delta-like ligand 4 (DLL4) and its relation with the angiogenesis in pancreatic cancer. Methods SP immunohistochemistry method was used to detect the expression of DLL4 in pancreatic cancer and para-cancerous tissue. The microvessel density (MVD) was calculated with CD34 staining for microvessel endothelium and the correlation between expression of DLL4,MVD and clinicopathological parameters of pancreatic carcinoma was investigated. Results The expression of DLL4 in pancreatic cancer was significantly higher than that in para-cancerous normal pancreatic tissue (68.3% vs 20%,P <0.01 ).The over-expression of DLL4 in pancreatic cancer was positively related to the differentiation degree,TNM staging, metastasis and invasion (P <0.05),but not related to the location, tumor size and histological types. The MVD in pancreatic cancer tissues was significantly higher than that in para-cancerous normal tissues (34.9 ± 13.2 vs 18.9 ±2.2,P <0.01).MVD was correlated with the differentiation degree,TNM staging, metastasis and invasion (P <0.05 ),but not with the tumor size and location, histological types.MVD in pancreatic cancer expressing DLL4 was significantly higher than that in pancreatic cancer not expressing DLL4 ( 38.8± 10.7vs 29.0 ± 15.2,P =0.038 ),and the expression of DLL4 and MVD were positively correlated ( r =0.669,P < 0.05 ).Conclusions DLL4 expression may play an important role in pancreatic carcinogenesis by promoting angiogenesis and may be associated with tumor invasion and metastasis.

Based on cognitive psychology, the business attributes of port health quarantine, the requirements for team building, the current status of skill training. This article proposes to strengthen the training of port health quarantine skills. Under the guidance of medical licensing examination for public health, it is recommended to enhance the construction of a standardized skill training practice system, establish a basic skill training center and a field operation training site, develop new skill training courses, innovate skills training and teaching methods, and build a team of high-quality skill training teachers, thereby constructing a standardized skill training and practice system for port health quarantine. The preliminary establishment of the skill training system for port health quarantine at Huangpu Customs shows the feasibility and effectiveness of the construction of skill training and practice system.
