5.Treatment with interferon and thymosin alpha-1 versus interferon monotherapy for HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis B: a meta-analysis.
Chinese Journal of Hepatology 2011;19(1):29-33
To compare the efficacy of interferon and thymosin alpha-1 combination therapy with interferon monotherapy for HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis B. The relevant randomized controlled trials were searched throughout PubMed, EBSCO, Cochrane Library, CBMdisc, VIP, WanFang since Janurary 1990. Studies were included if patients were followed up for at least 6 months after cessation of treatment. Meta-analysis was carried out with RevMan5.0 software. Subgroup analyses were used at different time of observation. Seven randomized controlled trials were included(535 patients in total). According to the results of meta-analysis, the combination therapy was remarkably more effective than monotherapy both at the end of the treatment and the follow-up in terms of HBV-DNA negative rate (54.9% vs 36.3%, OR=2.39, 95% CI=1.64-3.49, P value is less than 0.01; 58.6% vs 30.7%, OR=3.68, 95% CI=2.51-5.41, P value is less than 0.01, respectively), ALT normalization rate (74.5% vs 60.9%, OR=1.94, 95% CI=1.26-3.00, P value is less than 0.01; 74.0% vs 55.6%, OR=2.36, 95% CI=1.54-3.62, P value is less than 0.01, respectively), HBeAg loss rate (56.9% vs 36.7%, OR=2.38, 95% CI=1.61-3.51, P value is less than 0.01; 62.2% vs 33.2%, OR=3.42, 95% CI=2.31-5.06, P value is less than 0.01, respectively) , and HBeAg seroconversion rate (40.1% vs 29.0%, OR=1.65, 95% CI=1.10-2.47, P value is less than 0.05; 47.0% vs 29.5%, OR=2.13, 95% CI=1.43-3.16, P value is less than 0.01, respectively); the HBsAg loss rate of the combination therapy group was significantly higher than that of the monotherapy group only at the end of the follow-up (9.8% vs 3.7%, OR=2.92, 95% CI=1.09-7.76, P value is less than 0.05). Interferon and thymosin alpha-1 combination therapy achieves superior effect with no increase in the adverse effects as compared to interferon monotherapy for HBeAg positive chronic hepatitis B.

OBJECTIVETo observe the short-term efficacy and radiotherapy induced acute reactions of sarcandra glabra (SG) combined chemoradiotherapy for treating patients with local advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
METHODSTotally 100 nasopharyngeal carcinoma phase III - IVa patients were randomly assigned to the control group and the observation group, 50 patients in each group. All patients received chemoradiotherapy. Patients in the observation group took SG decoction at the daily dose of 20 g.
RESULTSTotally 98 patients completed the treatment. There was no statistical difference in the complete remission rate, the partial remission rate, 1-year and 2-year total survival rates, or disease free progression rate between the two groups. The occurrence rate of II - III degree radioactive oral mucositis and dry mouth were obviously lower in the observation group than in the control group, showing statistical difference (P <0.05).
CONCLUSIONSG combined chemoradiotherapy could attenuate radiotherapy induced acute adverse reactions in treating advanced nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

To study the application characteristics of copovidone (PVP-S630) in Xinyueshu extracts during the spray drying process, and its effect on such pharmaceutical properties as micromeritics and drug release behavior. PVP-S630 was added into Xinyueshu extracts to study on the spray drying, the effect of different dosages of PVP-S630 against the wall sticking effect of the spray drying, as well as the power property of Xinyueshu spray drying power and the dissolution in vitro behavior of the effective component of hyperoside. The results showed that PVP-S630 revealed a significant anti-wall sticking effect, with no notable change in the grain size of the spray drying power, increase in the fluidity, improvement in the moisture absorption and remarkable rise in the dissolution in vitro behavior of hyperoside. It was worth further studying the application of PVP-S630 in spray drying power of traditional Chinese medicine.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2006;31(6):945-947
OBJECTIVE:
To provide a reference for diagnosing and treating Kawasaki disease (KD).
METHODS:
We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 186 cases of final diagnosed Kawasaki disease and observed the characteristics of incomplete KD.
RESULTS:
There were 108 cases of KD with lesion of coronary artery in 186 cases through 2-dimensional echocardiography. The incidence rate was 58.1%; it was easier to complicate with lesion of coronary artery in incomplete KD. Of them, slight coronary artery aneurysm was 60 cases (55.6%), midrange coronary artery aneurysm was 36 cases (33.3%), and severe coronary artery aneurysm was 12 cases (11.1%). After 1 to 3 year's follow-up to all cases, the cases of slight coronary artery aneurysm all recovered in 6 months. The state of an illness in the cases of moderate and heavy coronary artery aneurysm was improved in 6 months except 3 huge aneurysm combining coronary artery thrombosis and coronary artery stenosis developed heart infarction and cardiomyopathy. The 30 cases of coronary artery aneurysm recovered in 1 year, 8 cases in 2 years, and 7 cases in 3 years. The patient that were not found with arterial coronary at the acute stage had no abnormality in 1 to 2 years after the treatment.
CONCLUSION
It is easier to complicate with lesion of coronary artery in incomplete KD and the prognosis of coronary aneurysm is worse. To improve early diagnose and treatment of incomplete KD, it is necessary to use 2-dimensional echocardiography to check the suspected cases.

10.Advances of studies on relative evaluation indexes for acupuncture and moxibustion treatment of senile dementia.
Hai-ying CHENG ; Dong-qi CHENG
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2006;26(8):605-608
The clinical and mechanism studies of acupuncture and moxibustion in treatment of dementia from modern literature in recent 15 years are reviewed. In clinical studies, changes of scores for relative dementia scale and daily life scale, relative laboratory indexes, imaging indexes and physical diagnostic indexes after acupuncture are explored. In studies of mechanisms, dementia models are established with different methods and changes of various indexes were observed. Studies find that acupuncture and moxibustion can improve intelligence and social activity ability, increase therapeutic effect and have good effects on important indexes of dementia. However, the criteria for diagnosis, therapeutic effects, syndrome standardization, evaluation of long-term therapeutic effects and prognosis for dementia still need to be further studied.
