1.Significance of Cardiac Function Detection in Infants with Severe Pneumonia in High Altitude Area
Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 1992;0(06):-
Objective To explore cardiac function of ventricular contraction and drastole in 30 infants with severe pneumonia in high altitude area. Methods Thirty patients with severe pneumonia were collected as patient group, and 32 healthy as control group.Cardiac function of left and right ventricle were detected by echocardiography, and the results were compared between two groups. Results Pre-ejectin period/acceleration time(RPEP/AT) of the right ventricle, right isovolumic relaxation time(RIRT) and left isovolumic relaxation time(LIRT)were significantly longer in patient group than those in control group(Pa

Objective To explore the effects of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) on motor function in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) using meta-analysis. Methods Eight comparative studies of the effects of TMS were meta-analyzed. Results The combined studies confirmed a significant difference before and after TMS treatment. Between the experimental and control groups the effect was also highly significant. Conclusion TMS may play an active role in the rehabilitation of motor function for patients with Parkinson's disease.

OBJECTIVE:
To observe the characteristics of vertical cast-off bloodstain pattern by different hitting-tools.
METHODS:
The regular hitting tools, a kitchen knife, a dirk, a plane set-hammer and an iron pipe, were selected. At a distance of 30 cm away from the wall, the hitting tool with 5 mL fresh chicken blood made the cast-off bloodstain from top to bottom. Then the holistic distribution characteristics (length, width and density) of cast-off bloodstain and morphology characteristics (length, width and contact angle) of first single cast-off bloodstain were analyzed.
RESULTS:
The distribution length of cast-off bloodstain formed by dirk was minimum (P < 0.05). The distribution width of cast-off bloodstain formed by kitchen knife was minimum (P < 0.05). Except the pair of kitchen knife and plane set-hammer, the distribution density between each two tools had statistical differences (P < 0.05). The length of first single cast-off bloodstain formed by plane set-hammer was longest compared (P < 0.05). The width of first single cast-off bloodstain had statistical differences between kitchen knife and plane set-hammer, and between dirk and plane set-hammer (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION
The type of hitting tool could be inferred by the specific characteristics of cast-off bloodstain pattern formed by every specific type of hitting tool in crime scene.

Objective To study the enhancing effect of ultrasound plus microbubble on small interference RNA(siRNA)transfection in vitro and in vivo. Methods Human vascular epithelial growth factor(VEGF)siRNA with 2'deoxy modification(VEGF 2'-eoxy siRNA,VdsR)was used. The human CNE cells(fromnasopharyngeal carcinoma)line was used for in vitro cell-based experiments and in vivo mouse xenograft model. Two different microbubble agents.BR14 and Levovist.were used together with the RNA transfection reagent RNA-mate.ELISA and RT-PCR assays were used to assess VEGF gene expression.Immunohistochemical staining (IHC)was performed to assess CD31 expression in xenograft tumors. Results VdsR transfection in CNE cells abolished VEGF expression as determined by ELISA experiments. In the first mouse xenograft experiment, ultrasound exposure dramatically enhanced VdsR-mediated tumor inhibition. In the second mouse xenograft experiment, when VdsR was mixed with the microbubble reagents and then injected into xenografts, ultrasoundexposure significantly reduced tumor growth in BR14-mixed VdsR group but not in the Levovist-mixed VdsR group compared to the control.RT-PCR experiments demonstrated that VEGF expression in ultrasound-exposed tumors was significantly lower than that in the control.Meanwhile,VEGF expression in the tumor tissue treated by BRl4-mixed VdsR declined as compared with the controls.Tumor vascular density as measured by CD31 immunostaining was significantly decreased in ultrasound-exposed tumors compared to the control. Conclusions Ultrasound exposure and/or microbubble can significantly enhance delivery and the efficiency of VdsR-mediated anti-tumor effects, and should be a location-specific enhancement approach for siRNA-based anti-cancer therapy.

AIM: To study the protective effects of Naokangning (Rhizoma Chuanxiong, Radix salviae miltiorrhizae, Hirudo, etc.) against cerebral ischemia. METHODS: We observed the effect of Naokangning on mice's resistance to cerebral ischemia when bilateral common carotid arteries and vagus nerves were ligated and hypoxia under normal pressure and airtight circumstance; With the model of partial cerebral ischemia by blocking rats'middle cer ebral artery (MACO):the effects of Naokangning on the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and creatine kinas e(CK), the content of malondialdehyde (MDA) and nitric oxide (NO) were measured. RESULTS: Naokangning significantly raised mice's ability of anti-cerebral ischemia and prolonged span of life in hypoxia, Moreover, it also obviously improved the activity of SOD, reduced content of MDA in cerebrum, content of NO and activity of CK in blood serum after ischemia. CONCLUSION: Naokangning could strikingly protect brain caused by cerebral ischemia.

A protocol for the isolation, purification and culture of motor neurons from newborn rat spinal cord was described and the effect of glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) on the growth of neurite of motor neurons was investigated in vitro. Spinal motor neurons (SMNs) were dissociated from ventral spinal cord of postnatal day 1 rats. The culture system for SMNs was established by density gradient centrifugation, differential adhesion, and use of serum-free defined media and addition of exogenous GDNF. After 72-h culture, the cells displayed the characteristic morphology of motor neurons, exhibited extensive neuritic processes and were positive for choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) expression. The neurite length of SMNs in GDNF groups was significantly longer than that in control group (P<0.05). This protocol can be adapted for various postnatal motor neurons studies.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2006;26(8):605-608
The clinical and mechanism studies of acupuncture and moxibustion in treatment of dementia from modern literature in recent 15 years are reviewed. In clinical studies, changes of scores for relative dementia scale and daily life scale, relative laboratory indexes, imaging indexes and physical diagnostic indexes after acupuncture are explored. In studies of mechanisms, dementia models are established with different methods and changes of various indexes were observed. Studies find that acupuncture and moxibustion can improve intelligence and social activity ability, increase therapeutic effect and have good effects on important indexes of dementia. However, the criteria for diagnosis, therapeutic effects, syndrome standardization, evaluation of long-term therapeutic effects and prognosis for dementia still need to be further studied.
