Objective To compare with the early postoperative feeding to traditional diet gynecological cancer patients rehabilitation influence. Methods 143 gynecological cancer patients were randomly divided into early feeding group (n =71) and traditional diet group (n =72); Patients in early feeding group were treated with liquid diet 6 hours after operation and a small amount of normal diet in many times 24 h after operation.Patients in traditional group were fasting after operation, liquid diet after rehabilitation of peristalsis, semi-liquid diet and normal feeding in the end. The complications and staying-in-hospital time between the two groups were compared. Results The mean staying-in-hospital time in first group was (4.7 ± 1.9) d, the other group was (5.8 ±2.3)d, and the difference has reached the statistical significance (P＜0. 01). The satisfaction in first group was higher than the normal group, the complications and infection rate were lower (P ＜ 0. 05). However,we did not found the differences in the nausea, vomiting, analgesics application and life quality between the two groups (P ＞ 0. 05). Conclusions Early postoperative feeding was positively useful for the recovery of gynecological cancer patients.

Six kinds of saponins (I, II, VII, PA, H) content of 22 samples of Paris polyphylla var. yunnanensis collected from different regions of Yunnan province were determined by HPLC, data was analyzed by SPSS 17. The results showed that the effect of altitude on saponin content was not significant, and the effect of growth area of saponins in P. polyphylla var. yunnanensis was significant, saponin content in sample from west Yunnan was significantly higher than that of samples from other regions.

Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) makes great contributions to the prosperous growth and people's health.But understanding deviation and imperfect evaluation system of TCM affect the healthy development of TCM.Clinic practice is the motive power of TCM,and curative effect is the key of TCM researches,and the scientific evaluation system is the safeguard for a healthy development of TCM.So we should focus on clinical researches of stubborn diseases and emergency cases to satisfy social demand and upgrade the position of TCM in the medical system.At the same time,functional disease must be explored to show the advantage of TCM.Our mission is to establish a scientific objective evaluation system to accurately understand TCM and take it as the turning point to give an impetus to theoretical breakthrough of the basic studies to promote an overall and healthy development of TCM.

This paper reviewed application of chitin and its derivatives in pharmaceutical industry of traditional Chinese medicine in recent years. Chitin and its derivatives could be used as a clarificant, retaining active substances, stabiliting preparation, reducing the heavy metals of traditional Chinese medicine extraction. Because of their churacteristics in biodegradation, biocompatibility and its tendency to film easily, chitin and its derivatives was ideal assistant materials in traditional Chinese medicine. Its application was largely enhanced after chitosan was modified. The problems and prospects of the application of chitin and its derivatives were also discussed.

OBJECTIVETo analyse the video-oculographic findings of positional tests and evaluate the efficacy of canalith repositioning procedure (CRP) in patients with paroxysmal positional vertigo ( BPPV) of the anterior semicircular canal (ASC).

METHODSA retrospective study of 31 patients with ASC BPPV. Then the CRP was performed.

RESULTSTwenty-two individuals (70.97%) presented a unilateral positional nystagmus during the Dix-Hallpike test, in 17 individuals had torsional nystagmus component, 5 individuals only had pure positional down beat nystagmus. Nine patients presented bilateral positional nystagmus, 7 individuals had torsional component positional nystagmus, in 2 patients the direction of the torsional component were the same during right and left Dix-Hallpike test, in 4 patients the torsional component were concurrent with positional down beat nystagmus but the direction could not be ascertained clinically, in 2 patients had pure positional down beat nystagmus. Nineteen patients (61.29%) had unilateral lesion, 11 patients had the left ASC BPPV, 8 patients had right ASC BPPV. Eleven patients had with both ASC and PSC BPPV in the ipsilateral. Twenty-one patients (67.74%) were cured, 29 patients (93.55%) were improved, 2 (6.45%) patients were inefficacy. CRP effectively resolved the nystagmus and vertigo in 14 patients (45.16%) when applied only once, The average number of CRP was 1.7 times, there were 5 patients recurrence during the follow-up.

CONCLUSIONSASC BPPV was not a common condition. The torsional nystagmus component of ASC BPPV might be weak during the Dix-Hallpike test. The positional nystagmus of ASC BPPV was triggered bilaterally. Based on these findings, CRP could be one of the most effective treatment methods for ASC BPPV.

OBJECTIVETo study the mechanism of learning and memory dysfuction in the transgenic mouse expressing human tau 40 isoform with P301L mutation (F10).

METHODSThe human tau protein expression and phosphor-tau protein levels were detected with Western blot method. The neurofibrillary tangles were observed with Bielshowsky silver stain. The behavior changes of learning and memory were observed by open field test and passive avoidance test. Acetyleholine level, activities of acetycholinesterase and choline acetyltransferase of whole brain was detected by colorimetry method. The nitric oxide level of whole brain was detected by nitrate enzyme reduction method.

RESULTSExogenous human tau gene was expressed and an elevation of phosphor-tau protein level in 7 and 3-month transgenic mice's hippocampus andcerebrocortex was observed. The neurofibrillary tangles were observed in cerebrocortex of 7-month transgenic mice; the 7-month transgenic mice also presented an evident reduction of learning and memory ability and nitric oxide level of the whole brain, but not changes in acetylcholine level, acetycholinesterase activity, choline acetyltransferase activity and expression in whole brain.

CONCLUSIONTau transgenic mice (F10) can still inherit their parents' biologiccal characters, and develop learning and memory dysfunction awnodh san obvious decrease in nitric oxide level of whole brain in the 7-month old mice, suggesting a decrease of nitric oxide level of whole brain would be involved in the mechanism of learning and memory dysfunction in these transgenic mice.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of hypobaric hypoxia (HH)on the cognitive function of mice and the phosphorylation of tau protein in mice brain.

METHODSForty male mice were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 10): static control (control) group, 8 hours (8 h) group, 7 days(7 d) group and 28 days(28 d) group, which were exposed to simulated HH equivalent to 5 500 m in an animal decompression chamber for 0 hour, 8 hours, 7 days and 28 days, respectively. Cognitive performances were examined by open field and passive avoidance test, tan phosphorylation was assayed by Western blot.

RESULTSIn open field test,the group exposed in hypobaric hypoxia for 28 d showed lower mean velocity (P < 0.05), time in central zone (P < 0.05) was longer than control group. In passive avoidance test 28 d group presented worse performance in both latency time and number of mistakes (P < 0.05) compared with control group. Western blot showed that phosphorylated tau was increased significantly following exposure to HH for 7 d in cortex and 28 d in hippocampus (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONTau hyperphosphorylation in brain of mice may play a role in chronic HH-induced cognitive function impairment.

There are many kinds of TCM processed by spontaneous fermentation, including Massa Medicata Fermentata, Rhizoma Pinelliae Fermentata, Red fermented rice, Semen Sojae Praepaaratum, Mass Galla chinesis et camelliae Fermentata and Pien Tze Huang. This essay summarizes historical origin, main varieties, the effect of microbial strains, current processing techniques and existing problems of FTCM, and look into the prospect of modern development of FTCMs.
