AIM To study the effect of ATP sensitive potassium channel(K ATP ) opener pinacidil on the current induced by nicotine in cultured rat superior cervical ganglia. METHOD Whole cell patch clamp technique. RESULTS Pinacidil inhibited nicotine induced current when in higher dose(100 ?mol?L -1 ), but had no effect on the desensitization of nicotinic receptors. K ATP antagonist glibenclamide didn't influence the inhibitory effect of pinacidil on nicotinic current. CONCLUSION Pinacidil had an inhibitory effect on nicotine induced current in rat superior cervical ganglia and this effect wasn't mediated by K ATP .

Nicotinic and muscarinic acetylcholine receptors have the same endogenous ligand ACh and are distributed together in many tissues, so it is reasonable to believe that there must be some interactions existed between them. The functions of muscarinic receptors in the tissues innervated by the parasympathetic cholinergic postfibers, can be modulated by the ganglionic nicotinic receptors through stimulating ACh release. In ganglia, the postsynaptic nicotinic receptor activities can be modulated by the presynaptic muscarinic and nicotinic autoreceptors through regulating ACh release. Moreover, The functions of muscarinic receptors can be changed by nicotinic receptor desensitization or blockade. The two types of receptor act on each other and keep in a varied homeostasis of cholinergic nervous system.

The critical radius is determined by the growth rate, the mass transfer coefficient and the mass balance, and is independent of whether the limiting stationary growth regime has been obtained.

Methods:Sprague-Dawley rats were killed and then the livers were removed to isolate the microsome which can generate the reactive oxygen species in the presence of VC and Fe2+ or cumene hydroperoxite(CHP). AIM: To investigate the effect of 7-(4-methoxyphenyl)-5, 8a-diphenyl-1,2, 3, 7, 8, 8a-hexahydroimidazo[1,2-a] pyridine (TIP-6) on cell proliferation in human hepatoma cell line HepG2 and human normal hepatocyte cell line L02. METHODS: Typan blue assay was used to check the effect of TIP-6 on cell proliferation. The changes of cell morphology were observed by the phase contrast microscope. Flow cytometry (FCM) was used to check cell cycle. Autophagy and autophagic cell death were detected after acridine orange (AO) staining under fluorescent microscopy. Apoptosis was analyzed by Annexin V/7-AAD, DAPI staining and DNA ladder. NF-κB expression was detected with cellular immunochemistry. RESULTS: Cell proliferation inhibiting effect was appeared when treated with TIP6 from 60 μmol/L to 200 μmol/L, which was correlated with treated concentrations and time. The proliferation rates were just 12.10% and 18.75% (vs control) under 200 μmol/L 72 h in HepG2 and L02 respectively. Vacuolization were found more and more frequently with the increasing of TIP-6 concentrations and treated time prolonged. FCM results indicated that cells were blocked in G2/M phase, and more sensitive were found in HepG2 than L02. AO staining results indicated that the phenomenon of autophagy and autophagic cell death were occurred and appeared more potent with more TIP-6 and longer time treated. No apoptosis markers were found with Annexin V/7-AAD and DAPI staining, and no DNA ladders were found either, these indicated that TIP6 didnt induce apoptosis in these cells. NF-κB was found increased after treated with TIP-6, and the autophagic vacuole became more and more with the increasing of NF-κB protein, but the proliferation rates decreased at the same time. CONCLUSION: TIP-6 inhibited cell proliferation and induced autophagy and autophagic cell death in HepG2 and L02 cells. NF-κB activation may be involved in these effects.

Objective To investigate the correlation between flat IVC (fIVC)and relative clinical,index of prolapse of kidney(K) and lordosis of abdominal aorta (A)with respect to the lumbar on supine.Methods Abdominal CT image data of 100 cases without sign of low blood volume were selected randomly.The K and A were calculated in the plane of the entrance of the renal vein and fIVC was defined according to the ratio of length to short diameter of IVC (R)up and down about 1.5 cm plane,which large to 3 ︰ 1.The index size between different groups tested by t,the association of fIVC with age and gender tested byχ2 .Results Among 100 cases, male 57 cases,female 43 cases,fIVC was 14 and 20 cases respectively (χ2 =5.26,P <0.05);The old,middle-aged and young groups were 56,38 and 6 cases respectively,the constituent ratio of fIVC was 44.64%(25/56),23.68%(9/38)and 0(0/6)respectively;The mean of K plus A was 2.57±0.25,2.1 5 ±0.14 and 2.05 ±0.1 1 respectively.The two former of old group was all significantly more than that of green group (χ2 =6.40,t=5.06,P <0.05).The mean of K plus A of fIVC and non-fIVC set was 2.67±0.25 and 2.03±0.18 (t=3.89,P <0.05)respectively.Conclusion The increased K and A on supine perhaps as causes for the formation of fIVC and its more located nearby the entrance of the renal vein,and is associated with age and gender.

ObjectiveTo discuss the effect of neonatal behavioral neurological assessment (NBNA) and developmental screening test (DST) on newborns with hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE). MethodsNBNA was performed for 60 newborns with HIE within 12-14 days and DST was also performed at 6th month after birth.ResultsMild and severe degree HIE newborns with low NBNA scores had unfavorable prognosis. Conclusions NBNA and DST can provide evidence for early interference for newborn's HIE.

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics, surgical treatment and related factors of traumatic implantation cyst of the iris. Design Retrospective cases series. Participants Thirty-six cases of traumatic implantation cyst of the iris. Methods Thir- ty-six cases of traumatic implantation cyst of the iris were reviewed. Main Outcome Measures Age, surgical history, history of disease, surgical method of patients. Results All cases of traumatic implantation cyst of the iris were secondary to perforating injury. 10 cases had been undertaken cataract surgery. The histories of disease in 6 months～1 year and 1 year～10 years were 30.56% respectively. Sur- gical exicision was taken in all cases. There were 2 recurrence cases. Conclusion Traumatic implantation cyst of the iris is almost see- ondary to perforating injury. Surgical excision is an effective strategy to treat this disease.

Background Pathologic myopia is one of the common blinding eye diseases.Recent research suggests that immune response participates in the pathogenesis of pathologic myopia,and inflammation is an important factor that influent immune status.Objective Present study was to observe the change of high sensitive C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) in serum in the patients with pathologic myopia and explore the role of inflammation in the development of pathologic myopia. Methods Serum hs-CRP was measured from 30 patients with pathologic myopia,30 patients with simple myopia and 30 normal controls with Nephelometric Turbidity in the OLYMPUS AU5400 automatic biochemical analyzer.Written informed consent was obmined from each subject before medical examination.Results The mean age was(30+10) years in pathologic myopia group,and(32+8)years in simple myopia group and(32+9)years in normal control group.The range of preoperative spherical equivalent refraction was (-6.00--22.00) D in pathologic myopia group,(-1.00--6.00) D in simple myopia group and(-1.00-+1.00) D in normal control group.The level of hs-CRP in serum was(3.68±1.15)mmol/L in the patients with pathologic myopia and was significantly higher than that of simple myopia group(1.99±0.68 mmol/L)and normal controls (2.11±O.66 mmol/L)(q=10.69,P＜0.01;q=9.91,P＜0.01),respectively.No significant correlation was found between hs-CRP level and myopic degrees in pathologic myopia group(R2=0.037,P＞0.05). Conclusion Hs-CRP may play rule in the inflammatory reaction during the pathogenesis of pathologic myopia.
