China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2015;40(22):4510-4513
Wuyi is one of the Chinese medicine recorded in Shennong's Herbal Classic and many other herbal books during the long history period. Up to now, Wuyi is still an important medicine used for insecticidal and removing food retention. Recent researches indicated that Wuyi also had the function of anti-malaria and treating herpetic simplex keratitis. Therefore, Wuyi had notable value on clinic and development of new medicine. The herbalogical textual research on Wuyi was conducted through investigation of the literature of materia medica during the long historical period from Han Dynasty. It was demonstrated by this work that the original plants of Wuyi include Ulmus macrocarpa Hance and Hemiptelea davidii (Hance) Planch, in which, U. macrocarpa was the quality specie. U. pumila was the false specie which cause confusing. The medicine Wuyi was the processed product made from the nutlet of the plants through fermentation with other additive agents.

China Journal of Chinese Materia Medica 2013;38(23):4099-4103
The antitussive activity assay for the root extraction of Disporum cantoniense was carried out with coughing mice induced by ammonia liquor. The results showed that the ethanol and water extractions of D. cantoniense possess strong antitussive activity, and the high dose of the former was better than positive control, and then the constituents of the ethanol extraction were separated and purified by various modern chromatographic techniques. Their structures were identified by physico-chemical properties and spectroscopic data. As a result, eight compounds were isolated and identified as stigmast-4-en-3-one(1), (22E, 24R)-ergosta-5, 7, 22-trien-3beta-ol(2), obtucarbamate A(3), obtucarbamate B(4), neotigogenin(5), azo-2, 2'-bis[Z-(2,3-dihydroxy-4-methyl-5-methoxy) phenyl ethylene] (6),dimethyl {[carbonylbis (azanediyl)] bis( 2-methyl-5, 1-phenylene) j dicarbamate (7) , and quercetin-3-O-pB-D-glucopyranoside(8). All compounds were isolated from this plant for the first time, and the result of bioactivity-directed isolation showed that compounds 3, 4, and 6 had obvious effect on antitussive activity, and compound 6 had the same level as positive control.

Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology 2013;29(6):494-500
Vascular endothelium plays an important role in regulating vascular homeostasis. Over the past years, it has become clear that endothelial dysfunction is a key event of pathophysiological changes in the initiation and progression of injuries induced by extreme environmental factors. The present review summarizes current understanding of vascular endothelial dysfunction induced by hypoxia, cold and heat, and provides the information for prevention and treatment of environmental exposure injuries.

Objective To investigate the prognostic value of maximum diameter in axial plane of primary tumor (MDAPPT) on MRI in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).Methods From 2005 to 2007,333 patients with newly diagnosed and biopsy-proven NPC without distant metastasis, who underwent MRI scans of the nasopharynx and neck, were included in our study.MDAPPT was measured on MRI.The univariate analysis with the log-rank test and multivariate analysis with the Cox proportional hazards model were used to analyze the relationship between MDAPPT and prognosis. Results The median values of MDAPPT in patients with T1,T2,T3,and T4 NPC were 21.2,30.0,38.0,and 52.3 mm,respectively. For all patients with a MDAPPT of ≤30 mm,> 30-50 mm,and > 50 mm,the 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 81.3%,70.1%,and 51.5%,respectively (P =0.000) ; the 5-year progression-free survival (PFS) rates were 81.3%,70.0%,and 48.9%,respectively (P =0.000) ;the 5-year distant metastasisfree survival (DMFS) rates were 85.5 %,86.5 %,and 67.2 %,respectively (P =0.000) ; the 5-year local relapse-free survival (LRFS) rates were 97.7%,91.5%,and 83.3%,respectively (P =0.013).The multivariate analysis showed that MDAPPT was a prognostic factor for PFS and DMFS.For the T3-T4 patients with a MDAPPT of ≤50 mm and >50 mm,the 5-year OS rates were 69.4% and 52.2% (P =0.004),the 5-year PFS rates were 68.0% and 49.6% (P =0.001),and the 5-year DMFS rates were 84.0% and 66.8% (P=0.001).In the patients with a MDAPPT ≤30 mm,the 5-year LRFS rates for those with T1,T2,T3,and T4 NPC were 10 0 %,9 5.8 %,9 6.3 %,and 10 0 %,respectively (P =0.6 4 3).Conclusions MDAPPT is a prognostic factor for PFS and DMFS in NPC,and it is an important prognostic factor in patients with T3-T4 NPC.In the NPC patients with a small MDAPPT,local control rate varies little in different T stages.

Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
The potential of a Sinorhizobium fredii strain producing a copolymer polyhydroxyalkanoate(PHA)from glucose and sodium decanoate substrates was studied in this paper.Using orthogonal design in a flask-shaker culture system, the culture medium, some culture conditions and vital regulation conditions for polymer synthesis were optimized. These optimized results were applied into further studies in two-stage fed-batch with a 10L fermentor. The whole culture process consisted of two stages, that is,the cell growth and the copolymer production. The first stage was for the cell growing to a desired biomass and the second was for the copolymer synthesis. For producing PHA polymers, the selected 8 mM sodium decanoate was added into the broth by adopting a two-step adding method for avoiding of foaming when the biomass had approached 28.5g/L dry cell. The maximum P(HB-HH)production could be 17.55 g/L with a monomer ratio of 79.4%(W/W)3-HB and 20.6%(W/W)3-HH.The molecule constitute of the copolymer is poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate)[P(HB-HH)] and its molecular weight(MW)is 1.4?105D.The results demonstrated that the employed S.fredii strain could be a potential candidate for industrial production of the copolymer. The fermentation parameters acquired in the experimental system offered some valuable references for studying large-scale production of the copolymer.
