OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of Shuanghuanglian injection in the treatment of acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD),and to observe its effects on the plasma levels of C-reactive protein (CRP),procalcitonin(PCT)and interleukin-6(IL-6). METHODS:A total of 100 AECOPD patients were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 50 cases in each group. Control group received routine treatment, such as controlled oxygen therapy, intravenous dripping of moxifloxacin, bronchodilator for relieving asthma, mucolytic for eliminating phlegm,nu-tritional support. Observation group was additionally given Shuanghuanglian injection 1 ml/(kg·d)added into 5% Glucose injec-tion 250 ml intravenously,qd,on the basis of control group. Treatment course of 2 groups lasted for 10 d. Clinical efficacies of 2 groups were compared as well as the changes of serum levels of CRP,PCT and IL-6 before and after treatment and the occur-rence of ADR. RESULTS:After treatment, total effective rate of observation group was 96.0%,which was significantly higher than 82.0% of control group, with statistical significance(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no statistical significance in se-rum levels of CRP,PCT and IL-6 between 2 groups (P>0.05). After treatment, serum levels of CRP,PCT and IL-6 were de-creased significantly in 2 groups, and those of observation group were significantly lower than those of control group, with statis-tical significance (P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in the incidence of ADR between 2 groups (P>0.05). CON-CLUSIONS:Shuanghuanglian injection can effectively improve serum inflammatory factors of AECOPD patients, and shows good clinical efficacy and safety.

Objective To investigate the effects of anticholinergic antidote and rhodosin on the brain injury induced by soman intoxication combined with hypobaric hypoxia in rats. Methods A total of 72 Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups: hypoxia control (HC), hypoxia plus soman (HS), hypoxia plus soman plus anticholinergic antidote (HSAA), and hypoxia plus soman plus anticholinergic antidote plus rhodosin (HSAAR). The animals after soman intoxication (72 ?g/kg) were placed in a hypobaric (62 kPa) apparatus for hypoxic exposure for 48 h. Rats were sacrificed for brain tissue detachment at the time points of 12, 24, and 48 h. Evans blue (EB) content and PLA 2 activity were detected biochemically. CaM concentration was determined by radioimmuno assay. Results Compared with the rats in HC, soman induced significant increases of brain EB, PLA 2, and CaM at 12, 24, and 48 h in HS. Elevated EB, PLA 2, and CaM induced by hypoxia and soman intoxication in rats in group HSAA were obviously attenuated by anticholinergic antidote. More significant decreases of brain EB, PLA 2, and CaM were found in rats in group HSAA. Conclusion Both anticholinergic antidote and anticholinergic antidote plus rhodosin have the preventive effect on rat brain damage induced by soman intoxication combined with hypoxia.

Journal of Forensic Medicine 2014;30(5):352-354
OBJECTIVE:
To analyze the case characteristics of poisoning by exhaust gas of the imperfect combustion of natural gas and provide references for forensic identification and prevention of such accidents.
METHODS:
Twenty-two cases of poisoning by exhaust gas of the imperfect combustion of natural gas in Minhang District during 2004 to 2013 were collected. Some aspects such as general conditions of deaths, incidence time, weather, field investigation, and autopsy were retrospectively analyzed.
RESULTS:
In the 22 cases, there were 15 males and 16 females. The age range was between 2 and 82 years old. The major occurring time was in January or February (8 cases in each) and the cases almost occurred in small area room (21 cases). There was wide crack next to the exhaust port when the gas water heater was been used in all cases.
CONCLUSION
There are more prone to occurrence of exhaust gas poisoning of imperfect combustion of natural gas in small area room with a ventilation window near the exhaust port of gas water heated. It shows that the scene of combustion exhaust gas poisoning should be more concerned in the cold season.

World Journal of Emergency Medicine 2014;5(3):165-170
BACKGROUND: Ascariasis is one of the most common human parasitic infections worldwide. In some rare cases, ascariasis may cause serious consequences even sudden death. This study was undertaken to review the life-threatening complications of ascariasis in trauma patients reported in the literature. DATA SOURCES: Relevant articles about ascariasis and trauma were searched from Pubmed, Google scholar, Scirus, and Wanfang databases. RESULTS: Twenty-four patients with ascariasis were collected from 21 articles searched. Most of these patients were from tropical and subtropical countries. Of the 24 patients, 12 were children. Their major complications occurred in the airway passage and digestive tract. There were 3 fatal cases in these patients. Twelve of the 24 patients described in 10 articles were reported in the last 10 years. CONCLUSIONS: Early diagnosis and prompt intervention are essential to minimize the high morbidity and mortality of these serious complications in trauma patients. Physicians should be aware of the possibility of Ascaris infection in a trauma patient from endemic area of ascariasis. History of Ascaris infection and routine examination of feces forAscaris eggs may be helpful to make a correct diagnosis.

Microbiology 1992;0(06):-
The potential of a Sinorhizobium fredii strain producing a copolymer polyhydroxyalkanoate(PHA)from glucose and sodium decanoate substrates was studied in this paper.Using orthogonal design in a flask-shaker culture system, the culture medium, some culture conditions and vital regulation conditions for polymer synthesis were optimized. These optimized results were applied into further studies in two-stage fed-batch with a 10L fermentor. The whole culture process consisted of two stages, that is,the cell growth and the copolymer production. The first stage was for the cell growing to a desired biomass and the second was for the copolymer synthesis. For producing PHA polymers, the selected 8 mM sodium decanoate was added into the broth by adopting a two-step adding method for avoiding of foaming when the biomass had approached 28.5g/L dry cell. The maximum P(HB-HH)production could be 17.55 g/L with a monomer ratio of 79.4%(W/W)3-HB and 20.6%(W/W)3-HH.The molecule constitute of the copolymer is poly(3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3-hydroxyhexanoate)[P(HB-HH)] and its molecular weight(MW)is 1.4?105D.The results demonstrated that the employed S.fredii strain could be a potential candidate for industrial production of the copolymer. The fermentation parameters acquired in the experimental system offered some valuable references for studying large-scale production of the copolymer.
