OBJECTIVE:To observe clinical efficacy and safety of exenatide combined with clomiphene citrate in the treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome with insulin resistance. METHODS:98 patients with polycystic ovary syndrome complicated with in-sulin resistance were randomly divided into control group (49 cases) and observation group (49 cases). Control group was given Clomiphene citrate capsule 50 mg orally, once a day,for 5 d+Metformin enteric-coated tablet with initial dose of 0.25 g orally, twice a day, adjusted to 0.50-0.75 g orally, twice a day,for 3 menstrual cycles. Observation group was given Clomiphene citrate capsule(usage and dosage same as control group)+Exenatide injection 5 μg subcutaneously, twice a day, adjusted to 10 μg subcu-taneously,twice a day,for 2 months. Clinical efficacies of 2 groups were observed as well as the levels of LH,FSH,LH/FSH and IR before and after treatment, ovulation and pregnancy of infertility patients after treatment. The occurrence of ADR was record-ed. RESULTS:Total response rate, ovulation rate and pregnancy rate of observation group were significantly higher than that of con-trol group, with statistical significance(P<0.05). Before treatment, there was no statistical significance in the levels of LH,FSH, LH/FSH and IR between 2 groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the levels of LH,LH/FSH and IR in 2 groups were significantly lower than before, and the observation group was significantly lower than the control group, the levels of FSH in 2 groups was sig-nificantly higher than before, and the observation group was significantly higher than the control group, with statistical significance (P<0.05). There was no statistical significance in incidence of ADR between 2 groups(P>0.05). CONCUSIONS:Exenatide com-bined with clomiphene citrate shows significant therapeutic efficacy for polycystic ovary syndrome complicated with insulin resis-tance and can increase ovulation rate and pregnancy rate through improving insulin resistance, but doesn't increase the occurrence of ADR.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2011;19(2):284-287
This study was aimed to investigate the distribution of CD38 gene 184 locus allele frequency in chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) and its relation with genetic susceptibility of CML. 100 cases of CML were enrolled in patient group; 200 cases of nonhematologic diseases and nontumor diseases were enrolled in control group. The CD38 gene 184 locus polymorphism was detected by PCR-RFLP, the difference of genotypic frequencies in patient and control groups was analyzed by χ(2) test and Fisher exact probability test, the risk of genotype induced leukemia was expressed by odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). The results showed that the distribution of CD38 gene 184 locus G/G, G/C, C/C genotypes was no significantly different between patients and control groups (p = 0.072). The wild type C/C was used as reference, the distribution of variant G/C genotype frequency in CML group was different statistically from control group (p = 0.032, OR value 0.517, 95%CI 0.283 - 0.947); the C allele frequency was used as reference, the G allele frequency in CML group was higher than that in control group (p = 0.028, OR value 0.597, 95%CI 0.377 - 0.94). It is concluded that the CD38 gene 184 locus G allele may be an protective gene against CML, and reduce the risk of CML relapse.

Chinese Journal of Oncology 2003;25(4):397-400
OBJECTIVETo investigate the incidence of lymph node metastasis (LNM) in the right para-tracheal triangle (RPT) of esophageal carcinoma patients and the technique of dissection.
METHODSOn the top of double mediastinal and abdominal lymphadenectomy, 333 esophageal carcinoma patients received RPT lymphadenectomy through the right pleural apical approach from 1990 to 2001.
RESULTSIn these 333 patients, the lymph node metastasis (LNM) rate in the RPT was 36.40%. A total of 457 nodes among 2 159 nodes removed gave a metastasis degree of 24.96%. The LNM rates in RPT for cervical, upper third, middle third, and lower third segments of esophagus were 66.67%, 45.45%, 34.19% and 15.79% (P < 0.05), while their respective metastasis degrees were 44.44%, 27.04%, 24.32% and 18.92% (P > 0.05). The frequency of positive nodes in the RPT for PTI, PT1, PT2, PT3 and PT4 was 0, 17.24%, 28.7%, 45.16% and 53.57%, while those of metastasis degree were 0, 8.77%, 17.62%, 33% and 41.17% (P < 0.01). The frequency of LNM in the RPT in papillary, erosive, patch-like and covert type of early tumor was 40%, 3.85%, 0 and 0 (P < 0.05), while those of the metastasis degree were 29.41%, 1.82%, 0 and 0 (P < 0.01). Higher rate of LNM in progressive stenotic esophageal carcinoma was observed compared with those of the other gross types (56.52%, P < 0.05), so was the degree (P < 0.01). The frequency of LNM in the RPT for mono-focal and multi-focal tumor was 34.98% and 70% without significant difference (P > 0.05), while the degree was 24.29% and 53.33% (P < 0.05). Postoperative complications were: leak (0.6%), and recurrent laryngeal nerve injury (1.2%). No injury of vein or infra-clavicular artery, tracheal damage or mortality occurred.
CONCLUSION1. The lymph node metastasis from esophageal carcinoma has a tendency of wide spread and right para-tracheal triangle is an important region to be doomed. 2. With location, depth of tumor invasion and differentiation of tumor as major factors affecting LNM of esophageal carcinoma, dissection of this region should be paid more emphasis. 3. In early lesions, higher frequency of LNM in the RPT is found in papillary and erosive lesions than in the other macroscopic types. 4. Exposing the RPT, lymph node by dissection through a right pleural apical approach is very important and significant.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect and the mechanism of Danhong Injection (DI), Ligustrazine Injection (LI), and adsorbable biomembranes in preventing the adhesion of tendons and tissues.
METHODSTotally 120 patients all suffering from simple flexor digitorum tendon rupture on the hand zone two damaged by sharp weapons were randomly assigned to Group A (Dikang adsorbable biomembrane), Group B (Tianxinfu adsorbable biomembrane), Group C (Tianxinfu adsorbable biomembrane + Ligustrazine group), and Group D (Tianxinfu adsorbable biomembrane + DI group) in accordance with random digit table, 30 cases in each group. Indicators such as total active movement (TAM) of the hand tendon, Minnesota manual dexterity test (MMDT), and finger flex strength test (FFST) were observed.
RESULTSThe TAM and the favorable rate were higher in Group C and D than in Group A and B at post-operative 4 and 8 week (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). There was no statistical difference between Group C and D (P > 0.05). Each index of MMDT was lower in Group C and D than in Group A and B (P < 0.05). There was no statistical difference in FFST among all the 4 groups (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSCombined application of LI or DI with Tianxinfu adsorbable biomembranes could effectively prevent the adhesion of tendons. DI showed equivalent effect as LI did. Besides, the combined application was superior in preventing adhesion to using Xintianfu adsorbable biomembrane or Dikan adsorbable biomembrane alone.

AIM:To investigate the effects of evodiamine on the growth and apoptosis of human hepatocellular carcinoma Huh7 cells, and to illustrate the molecular mechanism that evodiamine enhances antitumor activity of tumors nec -rosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand(TRAIL)in Huh7 cells.METHODS: The cell viability was measured by MTT assay. The cell cycle distribution was analyzed by flow cytometry. The apoptosis rate was determined by TUNEL stai-ning.The protein levels of cell cycle-and apoptosis-related proteins were detected by Western blot analysis.RESULTS:Treatment of Huh7 cells with evodiamine reduced the cell viability(P<0.05).Evodiamine induced cell cycle arrest in G2/M phase by upregulation of p27,cyclin B1, cell division cycle protein 2(Cdc2)and p-Cdc2.Evodiamine triggered apoptosis accompanied by cleavage of caspase-3 and poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase(PARP).Combination of evodiamine with TRAIL significantly reduced the cell viability and increased cleavage of caspase -3 and PARP as compared with the use of each agent alone. Moreover, evodiamine increased the expression of death receptor 5(DR5)in the Huh7 cells.CON-CLUSION:Evodiamine inhibits the cell growth by reducing the cell viability and inducing cell cycle arrest.Evodiamine also triggers cell apoptosis and enhances the sensitivity of Huh 7 cells to TRAIL by upregulating the expression of DR5.

Chinese Journal of Epidemiology 2009;30(12):1284-1287
OBJECTIVETo investigate the infection of Borna disease virus (BDV) in unidentified viral encephalitis patients in Ningxia in order to explore if the nucleotide sequence and amino acid sequence in BDV p24 were homophylic with the overseas standard strain. We also intended to investigate the correlation between BDV infection and the unidentified viral encephalitis patients from Ningxia to lay an experimental basis for etiological diagnosis, prevention and treatment on certain human neuropsychiatric disorders.
METHODSBDV p24 gene fragment was detected by nested reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction with fluorescence quantitative PCR (FQ-nRT-PCR) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs). Samples were from 59 unidentified viral encephalitis patients and 60 normal controls. For those positive products, gene sequence and amino acid sequence were then analyzed by BLAST and DNAsist 5.0.
RESULTSThe positive rate of the BDV p24 gene fragment in PBMCs from the unidentified viral encephalitis (10.17%) was significantly higher than from the controls (0%) (P < 0.05). Data from the gene sequence on those positive products showed BDV p24 fragment in the patients with unidentified viral encephalitis from Ningxia was homophylic with strain H3915 detected from ill horses (97.67%), as well as with the strain H1766 (96.51%) and strain V (95.35%). However, their amino acid sequences remained the same.
CONCLUSIONBDV infection might probably have existed in the unidentified viral encephalitis patients of Ningxia. The gene sequence seemed to be homophylic with that of standard strain H1766 and strain V, especially with strain H3915.
