2.THE CHARACTERISTICS OF SOLUBILIZING ROCK PHOSPHATE BY FOUR ISOLATES OF BACTERIA AND FUNGI

Phosphate-dissolving microorganisms are widely distributed in soil, rhizosphere and other ecological environment. Understanding the characteristics of these microorganisms in solubilizing phosphates is helpful to apply them in improving P use efficiency. The obtained results indicated that the fungi had much higher capacity to dissolve the rock than the bacteria. Existence of Fe, Al, Mg and Na in the culture media reduced the rock solubilization by the bacteria, but increased the solubilization of the fungi. The higher content of the rock in the media, the lower capacity of the rock phosphate solubilization was found. The capacity was also significantly reduced if the concentration of C material in the media was higher than 3%. It was also found that the microorganisms destroyed the rock structure. The P was more easily released from the rock at further incubation. In conclusion, there is some potential to utilize the microorganisms to activate the rock phosphate.
3.Role of histamine H(1) and H(2) receptors in the modulation of respiratory rhythmical discharge in medulla oblongata slice preparation of neonatal rats.

The present study was carried out to determine the role of histamine H(1) and H(2) receptors in the generation of basic respiratory rhythm. Neonatal (aged 0-3 d) Sprague-Dawley rats of either sex were used. The medulla oblongata slice containing the medial region of the nucleus retrofacialis (mNRF) and the hypoglossal nerve rootlets was prepared and the surgical procedure was performed in the modified Kreb's solution (MKS) with continuous carbogen (95% O(2) and 5% CO(2)), and ended in 3 min. Respiratory rhythmical discharge activity (RRDA) of the rootlets of hypoglossal nerve was recorded by suction electrode. Thirty medulla oblongata slice preparations were divided into 5 groups. In groups I, II and III, histamine (5 μmol/L), H(1) receptor specific antagonist pyrilamine (10 μmol/L) and H(2) receptor specific antagonist cimetidine (5 μmol/L) was added into the perfusion solution for 15 min separately. In group IV, after application of histamine for 15 min, additional pyrilamine was added into the perfusion for another 15 min. In group V, after application of histamine for 15 min, additional cimetidine was added into the perfusion for another 15 min. The discharges of the roots of hypoglossal nerve were recorded. Signals were amplified and band-pass filtered (100-3.3 kHz). Data were sampled (1-10 kHz) and stored in the computer via BL-420 biological signal processing system. Our results showed that histamine significantly decreased the respiratory cycle (RC) and expiratory time (TE), but changes of integral amplitude (IA) and inspiratory time (TI) were not statistically significant. Pyrilamine induced significant increases in RC and TE, but changes of TI and IA were not statistically significant. Cimetidine had no effects on RC, TE, TI and IA of RRDA. The effect of histamine on the respiratory rhythm was reversed by additional application of pyrilamine but not cimetidine. Taken together, with the results mentioned above, histamine H(1) receptors but not H(2) receptors may play an important role in the modulation of RRDA in the medulla oblongata slice preparation of neonatal rats.

4.Main Plant Diseases Caused by Umbravirus

The genomes of umbraviruses do not encode a coat protein, and thus no conventional virus particles are formed in infected plants. Umbraviruses are always coinfected with an assistor virus, which is always a member of the family Luteoviridae, to cause most devastating diseases in some areas. The epidemiology of the umbra-virus-caused disease is largely depended on aphid transmission. The symptomology, occurrence, characteristics of the causal agents, disease control of carrot motley dwarf, groundnut rosette and tobacco bushy top were reviewed detailedly in this article.
5.Modulatine Role of Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid A Receptor on Respiratory Rhythmical Discharge Activity in Brainstem Slice of Neonatal Rat

Objective To explore the modulation roles of gamma-aminobutyric acid A(GABAA) receptor on respiratory rhythmical discharge activity in brainstem slice of neonatal rats.Methods Experiments were performed on in vitro neonatal rats brainstem slices.The slices containing the medial region of the nucleus retrofacialis(mNRF)with the hypoglossal nerve rootlets retained was prepared in which the respira-tory-related rhythmic discharge activity(RRDA)were recorded from hypoglossal nerve rootlets by suction electrode.The possible role of GABAA receptor on RRDA was investigated by administration of GABA and its antagonist bicuculline in modified Kreb′s solution(MKS),for perfusion of the brainstem slices.Eighteen slices positive of RRDA were randomly divided into three equal groups:the first group of slices was perfused with different concentrations(10,20,40,60 ?mol/L) GABA and the most effective concentration was selected;the second group of slices was perfused with 10 ?mol/L bicuculline;the third group of slices was perfused with 10 ?mol/L bicuculline plus 40 ?mol/L GABA.The RRDA in 3 groups were observed.Results GABA decreased RRDA,40 ?mol/L was the most effective concentration.It shortened inspiratory time(TI),decreased integral amplitude(IA),prolonged respiratory cycle(RC) and expiratory time(TE) respectively.By contrast,10 ?mol/L bicuculline produced opposite effects on RRDA,it prolonged TI,increased IA,shortened RC and TE respectively.40 ?mol/L GABA plus 10 ?mol/L bicuculline had no significant effects on RRDA.Conclusion GABA plays an important role in modulate RRDA of neonatal rats via GABAA receptor.

7.Modulatory Effect of 5-Hydroxytryptamine 2A Receptor on Discharge Activities of Inspiratory Neurons in the Medial Region of Nucleus Retrofacialis of Neonatal Rats in Vitro

Objective To explore the modulatory effect of 5-HT2A receptors on the discharge activities of inspiratory neurons in medial region of nucleus retrofacialis of neonatal rats. Methods Experiments were performed in vitro brainstem slice preparations from neonatal rats. These preparations included the medial region of nucleus retrofacialis with the hypoglossal nerve rootlets retained. The rhythmic discharges of the inspiratory neurons and activities of the hypoglossal nerve rootlets were simultaneously recorded by using microelectrodes and suction electrodes, respectively. Roles of 5-HT2A receptors in modulation of the discharge activities of inspiratory neurons were investigated by administration of the 5-HT2A receptor agonist 1-(2,5-dimethoxy-4-iodopbenyl)-2-aminopropane (DOI), and its specific antagonist ketanserine dissolved in modified Kreb's solution for perfused slices. Results In DOI group, the inspiratory time (TI) was (0.864±0.07)s, expiratory time (TE) was (10.78±1.06)s, respiratory cycle (RC) was (11.79±1.64)s, integral amplitude (IA) was (357.98±37.21)(μV·s) and the peak discharge frequency (PF) was (37.83±3.66)Hz. In control group, they were (0.68±0.06)s, (13.89±2.14)s, (14.77±1.92)s, (273.57±24.39)(μV·s), and (29.92±4.50)Hz, there were significant differences between the 2 groups (Pa<0.01). In ketanserine group, TI was (0.55±0.07)s, TE and RC were (18.43±3.28)s and (20.17+2.91)s respectively, IA and PF were (214.37±33.52)(μV·s) and (22.17±3.92)Hz, there were significant differences between ketanserine group and DOI, control group (Pa<0.01). Conclusion 5-HT2A receptors take part in modulate the discharge activities of inspiratory neurons in neonatal rat brainstem slices.
8.Dipyridamole 201Tl myocardial SPECT imaging in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy

Objective To explore the characteristics of dipyridamole 201 Tl myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) SPECT in patients with dilated cardiomyopathy. Methods Thirty patients with dilated cardiomyopathy underwent pharmacological stress 201Tl MPI SPECT after intravenous infusion of dipyridamole (0. 56 mg/kg) for 4 min. The early and delayed SPECT images were acquired respectively at 10 and 240 min after 201Tl injection. The images were analyzed and reported by two or three experienced nuclear medicine physicians. Results All patients were found to have abnormal perfusion patterns at delay imaging, however 90.00% (27/30) were also abnormal at early images. Six patients had reverse redistribution. Conclusion Dipyridamole 201Tl MPI SPECT imaging may be of some value for the assessment of patients with dilated cardiomyopathy.
9.Inhibition of polylysine-EDTA on rabbit lens epithelial cell growth in vitro

BackgroundPosterior capsule opacification(PCO) is the main cause inducing low vision after extacapsular cataract extraction. Our previous study determined that polylysine-ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) (PLE) can suppress the incidence of PCO. ObjectiveThe goal of this experiment was to investigate the inhibition of polylysine-EDTA on rabbit lens epithelial cells (LECs)proliferation in vitro and the effective concentrations of polylysine-EDTA. MethodsThe anterior capsular membranes from 10 3-month-old clean New Zealand white rabbits were digested and then cultured to obtain the LECs. The second and third generation of LECs were inoculated on the 96-hole culture plate with the cell density of the 1 × 105/ml. 12.5,25.0,50. 0,100. 0 μmol/Lof PLE were added into the culture medium for 48 hours respectively,and the DMSO medium was used at the same way as the control group. The proliferation of the LECs was then detected by MTT method and the inhibitory rate of PLE on LECs growth was calculated. ResultsLECs grew at a near normal state in ≤25.0 μmol/L PLE groups,however,cultured LECs were out of shape and the numbers decreased with the weakened adhesion ability in ≥50.0 μ mol/L PLE groups. The A490 values of LECs were 0. 278±0. 013,0. 266±0. 028,0. 260±0. 022 and 0. 247±0. 012 in 12. 5,25.0,50. 0, 100. 0 μmol/L polylysine-EDTA groups respectively and were lower than 0. 311 ±0. 038 of DMSO control group( P=0. 035,0. 011,0. 009,0.013 ). The inhibitory rates of 12. 5,25.0,50. 0, 100.0 μmoL/L PLE on LECs proliferation were 10.61% , 14.47% , 16.40% and 20. 58% respectively. ConclusionsPolylysine-EDTA can inhibit the growth and proliferation of LECs in vitro at a dose-dependent manner.
10.Comparitive Comparative study of the indexes of pulmonary arterial pressure of healthy children at different altitudes by Doppler echocardiography.

OBJECTIVEReduced oxygen availability at a high altitude is associated with increased pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP). With the altitude goes up the change of PAP in healthy children is still not clear. The difference of PAP in native Tibetan and Han children at a high altitude are also not clear. Many studies have shown that Doppler echocardiographic estimation of PAP correlates closely to the values obtained with the invasive measurement. Therefore the indexes of PAP in health children living at different altitudes were investigated and the indexes of PAP in Han and Tibetan children at the high altitude were compared by Doppler echocardiography.
METHODSA randomized survey was carried out on the indexes of PAP with Doppler echocardiography (HP-8500 and CAL-163 echocardiographic machine) by two doctors of Qinghai Provincial Women and Children Hospital from June 1998 to July 2002. The survey covering Jiuzhi Qinghai (at 3700 m above the sea level), Xining Qinghai (at 2260 m above the sea level) and Shanghai (at 16 m above the sea level) included a population of 1061 children aged 0 - 14 years. The population of 1061 composed of 218 Han children at Shanghai, 567 Han children at Xining Qinghai and 276 children at Jiuzhi, Qinghai including 118 migrated Han and 148 native Tibetan children. The physical, EKG and chest X-ray examination of each child were carried out to ensure all the subjects were healthy. A pulse oximeter was placed on each child's foot to provide measurements of arterial oxygen saturation (SO2) distal to the ductus arteriosus. The indexes of PAP included right ventricular systolic time interval (RSTI) and mean of pulmonary arterial pressure (mPAP) which was assessed by a multiple regression equation (mPAP=27.79 + 35.42 x PEP/AT-50.85 x AT/ETc). The AT/ETc was that AT/ET was divided by R-R. The RSTI included previous ejection period (PEP), ascending time (AT), ejection time (ET), PEP/AT and AT/ET. All subjects were divided into 7 age groups. The data of PAP indexes were compared among three different altitude groups and age groups. The data of PAP indexes were also compared in Han and Tibetan children living over 3700 m sea level in each age group.
RESULTSWith the altitude increase the SO2 of the subjects obviously reduced and the indexes of PAP changed. The SO2 correlated closely with the PEP, AT, PEP/A, AT/ET and mPAP (r = 0.352, 0.144, -0.394, -0.166 and -0.363, respectively; P < 0.01). The AT and AT/ET in the groups of 2260 m and 3700 m were shorter than those in the group of 16 m (P = 0.03-0.000) in each age group. The PEP and PEP/AT in 3700 m group were longer than those in 2260 m and 16 m groups (P=0.006-0.000) in each age group. The mPAP in 3700 m group was higher than that in 2260 m and 16 m groups in each age group (mean [+/-SE] mmHg, 35.23 +/- 8.72 vs 17.99 +/- 8.78 and 15.86 +/- 8.96 aged 0 - 28 d, 32.06 +/- 13.38 vs 20.72 +/- 5.71 and 14.64 +/- 8.19 aged to 6 mo, 31.83 +/- 10.53 vs 20.89 +/- 10.12 and 14.69 +/- 5.89 aged to 1 yr, 27.58 +/- 13.55 vs 19.12 +/- 9.75 and 17.36 +/- 6.71 aged to 3 yr, 24.19 +/- 8.38 vs 19.64 +/- 9.36 and 16.43 +/- 4.68 aged to 6 yr, 23.90 +/- 11.35 vs 16.77 +/- 6.79 and 14.42 +/- 6.50 aged to 10 yr, 23.08 +/- 7.31 vs 18.53 +/- 7.25 and 15.45 +/- 6.12 aged to 14 yr, P=0.000). With the growth of the children the reduction of PAP was remarkable at 3700 m above sea level (F=5.638 P=0.000), the mPAP indexes of the first, second and third age groups were evidently higher than those of the other age groups. The SO2, RSTI and mPAP in the native Tibetan children were not different from those in the migrated Han children (P > 0.05) in each age group.
CONCLUSIONThe PAP of healthy children at the high altitude was different from that of healthy children at the low altitude. The PAP of the healthy children at 3700 m above sea level was remarkably increased. At 3700 m above sea level the PAP of newborns and infants increased much more compared with that of juvenile. The race may not significantly affect the PAP at the high altitude. The high altitude hypoxic environment might play a major role in the increase of PAP.
