Objective To observe the influence of silymarin on expressions of transforming growth factor-?1(TGF-?1) and collagen type Ⅲ(Col Ⅲ) in rats with experimental tubulointerstitial fibrosis(TIF) induced by unilateral ureteral obstruction(UUO).Methods Se-venty-two Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:sham operation group(n=24),model group(n=24) and silymarin treatment group(n=24).The rats in model group and treatment group were operated by ligation of left-ureter.The rats in sham opera-tion group operated by dissociating left-ureter were taken as controls.Rats in treatment group were fed with silymarin [30 mg/(kg?d)]24 h before operation,and rats in model group and sham operation group were treated by intragastric administration with the same volume nomal saline at the same time.Eight rats were killed at day 7,14,and 21,respectively.The score of TIF changes,histologically,was evaluated under light microscope.Expressions of TGF-?1 and Col Ⅲ in tubulointerstitial tissue in 3 groups were investigated by immunohistochemistry.Results 1.The TIF pathological index in treatment group was less than that in model group,but more than sham operation group at day 14 and 21(Pa

Background Central corneal thickness (CCT) is one of important parameters of the anterior eye segment.It plays a very important part in corneal refractive surgery and diagnosis of glaucoma.Contacted A-scan remains the gold standard for CCT measurement.Ophthalmologists are trying to look for a more convenient and noncontacted instrument to take place of contacted A-scan for CCT measurement.Objective This system analysis was to evaluate the difference between Pentacam and A-scan in CCT measurement.Methods A systematic literature retrieval was conducted from the MEDLINE,EMbase,Google Scholar,CBM disc and CNKI database with the limitation of publishing time from January 2005 to May 2011.The literature text was limited to the comparison of the CCT values measured by Pentacam and A-scan.The statistical analysis was performed using RevMan 5.1.0 software.Sensitive analysis was carried out and the publishing bias was analyzed using inverted funnel plot.Results A total of 26 studies met the requirement were included in this Meta-analysis with the 12 pieces of Chinese article and 14 pieces of English article,with the total eyes 3677.Heterogeneity was found anmong included studies (P =0.0003,I2 =56％) and random effects model was used.The differential value of CCT derived by Pentacam and A-scan was 1.74 μm,and no significant difference was found between Pentacam and A-scan (WMD =1.74,95％ CI:-0.69-4.16,P＞0.05).Fixed effects model was used to exclude the studies with the sample more than 100 eyes as the sensitive analysis.When fixed effect model was used,CCT by Pentacam was 2.73 μm more than A-scan,showing an insignificantly clinical difference.When studies with a sample more than 100 eyes were excluded,the CCT value by Pentacam was 2.64 μm more than A-scan,without clinically significant difference between them.No obvious publishing bias was seen in the included literature.Conclusions The difference between Pentacam and A-scan in CCT measurement is less and could be ignored.

In order to study the regularity of shedding virus from infected SPF chickens and the formation of aerosol of H9N2 subtype AIV, SPF chickens were bred in a positive and negative pressure isolator. Aerosol samples were collected by AGI-30 (All Glass Impinger-30) extractor, and simultaneously trachea and cloaca samples were collected by tracheal swabs and cloacal swabs in different periods after challenged with vi- ruses. The above-mentioned samples were detected by HI, Dot-ELISA and RT-PCR methods. The results in- dicated that aerosols were isolated from the 4 days to the 43 days after inoculation. It was proved that H9N2 subtype AIV could copy themselves in respiratory passage and cloaca, and then could formation of aerosols. AIV H9N2 subtype could be isolated from cloacal and tracheal swabs 3 days after inoculation and lasted for 45 days, viruses were detected from all infected SPF chickens on 7 days.

The skin ulceration syndrome of sea cucumber is a kind of desease induced by bacterium.In order to investigate the bacterium of infected sea cucumber and detect the N-acyl-homoserine lactones(AHLs) se-cretion of the bacterium,7 bacterial strains were isolated from the infected sea cucumber.These strains were identified by physiological-biochemical characteristics and 16S rDNA sequence.Results show that strain C6 belongs to Tenacibaculum,strain 4 belongs to Shewanella putrefaciens group,strain TB belongs to Vibrio,strain BP2,BP3,BP4 and BP6 belong to Pseudoalteromonas,respectively.AHLs were detected with strain Agrobacterium tumefaciens KYC55.Among these bacterial strains,strain C6,4,TB,BP3 and BP4 can se-cret AHLs,while strain BP2 and BP6 can’t.And the AHLs activity differs,from the highest to the lowest are 4,TB,BP4,BP3 and C6.

CD127 is the interleukin7 receptor ?(IL7R?),it regulates the specific respond of T lymphocytes to IL7.CD127 plays an indispensable role in the development of thymocytes into T lymphocytes,the survival and homeostatic proliferation of memory T cells.There are only two phases of the life period of T cells that do not express CD127:immature CD4+8+double positive(DP)thymocytes and activated T cells.Recently,it was found that CD127 play an important role as the specific marker of memory T cells and regulator T cells.The role and mechanism of CD127 in the life period of T cells were discussed herein.

BACKGROUNDTumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) is important in promoting relative adrenal insufficiency (RAI) due to systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS). We identified the TNF-α receptor involved in the inhibition of adrenal corticotrophin (ACTH)-stimulated hydrocortisone release by studying the expression of TNF-α receptors in adrenal cortex Y1 cells and the effect of downregulating TNF receptors on ACTH-stimulated hydrocortisone release.

METHODSWe used real-time PCR and immunocytochemistry to evaluate the expression of TNF receptors on Y1 cells. TNF-receptor 1 (TNF-R1) DNA fragments corresponding to the short hairpin RNA (shRNA)-sequences were synthesized and cloned into pcDNA(TM) 6.2-GW/EmGFP expression vector. Knockdown efficiency of TNF-R1 expression was evaluated in miRNA transfected and mock-miRNA transfected Y1 cells by quantitative real-time PCR (Q-PCR). Hydro-cortisone expression levels were determined in TNF-R1-knockdown and control Y1 cells treated with TNF-α and ACTH.

RESULTSMouse adrenal cortex Y1 cells were positive for type I TNF-R1, but not type II TNF-receptor (TNF-R2). Blocking TNF-R1 expression resulted in loss of TNF-α-mediated inhibition of ACTH-stimulated hydrocortisone expression, suggesting a role for the TNF-R1 related signaling pathway in ACTH-stimulated hydrocortisone synthesis.

CONCLUSIONThe inhibitory effect of TNF-α on ACTH-stimulated hydrocortisone synthesis was mediated via TNF-R1 in adrenal cortex.

BACKGROUNDSeveral randomized controlled trials (RCTs) have compared endoscopic and symptomatic relapses in patients with erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). We have summarized current evidence for rabeprazole 10 or 20 mg once daily for GERD maintenance treatment over 1 or 5 years.

METHODSMEDLINE, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials were searched, through August 2012, for eligible RCTs of adults with erosive GERD. The efficacies of rabeprazole 10 and 20 mg/d were compared.

RESULTSThe search identified 288 citations, and five RCTs containing 1480 patients were considered eligible. Heartburn relapse rates did not differ significantly between patients treated with rabeprazole 10 and 20 mg/d for 1 year (relative risk (RR) = 1.29; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.97-1.72), but differed in patients treated for 5 years (RR = 1.274; 95% CI: 1.005-1.615). Endoscopic relapse rates differed significantly between rabeprazole 10 and 20 mg/d for 1 year (RR = 1.92; 95% CI: 1.21-3.06), for 5 years (RR = 1.667; 95% CI: 1.073-2.589), and in combined 1- and 5-year maintenance trials (RR = 1.785; 95% CI: 1.298-2.456).

CONCLUSIONRabeprazole 20 mg/d was superior to rabeprazole 10 mg/d in preventing endoscopic relapse of erosive GERD, but that the two dosages were equivalent in symptomatic relief over 1 year.
