Since 1995, four different types of artificial heart pumps and artificial valvo-pumps have been developed in Jiangsu University of China. Three types of heart pumps and valvo-pumps have been applied in animal experiments in University Texas, Medical Branch, USA and in Zhenjiang No.1 People's Hospital of China. The recently-developed UJS-IV pump is a totally implantable trans-ventricular and cross-valvular pump for emergercy treatments.

Objective To analyze the difference in computed tomography (CT) imaging findings between pulmonary alveolar pneumoconiosis Methods proteinosis (PAP) and occupational pneumoconiosis (hereinafter referred to as ). A total of 44 patients with PAP (PAP group) and 44 patients with pneumoconiosis (pneumoconiosis group) were selected as study subjects using Results convenient sampling method. The CT images of these two groups were comparatively analyzed. The detection rates of - - pulmonary CT pattern changes such as map like performance, ground glass opacity, paving stone sign and sphenoid wing like vs vs changes of pulmonary hilum in the PAP group were higher than those in the pneumoconiosis group (77.3% 0.0%, 75.0% vs vs P 2.3%, 56.8% 0.0%, 18.2% 0.0%, all <0.01); the detection rates of lymphadenopathy and calcification of pulmonary hilum, small pulmonary nodules, emphysema and interlobular septal thickening were lower in the PAP group than those in the vs vs vs vs P Conclusion pneumoconiosis group (34.1% 100.0%, 4.5% 100.0%, 2.3% 45.4%, 0.0% 22.7%, all <0.01). Paving - stone sign and map like performance were most commonly found in the CT imaging of patients with PAP, and it is uncommon in pneumoconiosis. These changes could be used as the CT differential diagnosis of the two diseases.

OBJECTIVETo explore the role of toll-like receptor 2 (TLR2) and toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MI/RI) by observing the dynamic expression changes at mRNA and protein levels early after myocardial ischemia/reperfusion (I/ R).

METHODSThe Wistar rats were randomly divided into Sham and I/R group (n = 42), and killed according to different reperfusion time (1, 2, 4, 6, 12, 24 h and 7 d). Structural and morphous changes of myocytes were observed under optical microscope. The mRNA and protein levels of TLR2 and TLR4 were detected using real-time PCR (RT-PCR). Monocyte chemokine protein-1 (MCP-1) and interleukine-6 (IL-6) mRNA levels were measured by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (rt-PCR).

RESULTS(1) With the extension of reperfusion time, the myocardial infarct size increased smoothly, and reached the plateau at 4 h, then stayed in the platform. After reperfusion for 7 d, the ventricular had been remodeled. (2) At the beginning of reperfusion, myocardial structure showed no significant change in Sham group, but had different degrees of injury in I/R group. In rats of the group reperfused for 7 d the left ventricular remodeling could be visible. (3) Compared to sham group,TIR2, TLR4, MCP-1, IL-6 mRNA level were increased in myocardium in I/R group. TLR2 and TLR4 both peaked at 4 h of reperfusion, IL6 peaked at 6 h, followed by a gradually decrease. TLR4 and IL-6 mRNA levels rose again at 7 d. MCP-1 level in I/R group remained fairly with sham group at the beginning of reperfusion, and markedly elevated at 7 d.

CONCLUSIONExpression of TLRs mRNA in myocardium during early after myocardial ischemia/reperfusion increased rapidly and activated TLRs might play an important role in MI/RI through promoting the generation of inflammatory factors. At the late reperfusion, TLRs levels raise again and the expression of inflammatory factors increase once again, Those may probably affect the remodeling of ventricular, and injure myocardial structure and function.

OBJECTIVE To observe the clinical effect of moxibustion on acupoint Feishu (BL13) in the treatment of acute asthma in children (cold-asthma),and to provide clinical evidence for treatment of asthma with acupuncture and moxibustion.METHODS 87 children with asthma (cold-asthma) who meet the inclusion criteria were selected and randomly divided into 2 groups.The control group was treated with conventional western medicine,and the observation group was treated with moxibustion on bilateral Feihu Points(BL13) on the basis of routine western medicine.CRP,IgE,IL1,IL6,EOS,pulmonary function and symptom score were selected as observation indexes for the clinical effects comparison of patients in two groups.RESULTS Indexes levels such as CRP,IgE,IL6 and EOS in the observation group were significantly lower than that in the control group after treatment (P<0.05~0.01).FEV1 and PEF levels of patients in the observation group were significantly better than that in the control group after treatment (P<0.05).Symptom score in the observation group was significantly lower than that in the control group after treatment (P<0.05).Apparent rate (73.81%) of patients in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (53.33%) (P<0.05).CONCLUSION Moxibustion on acupoint Feishu in the treatment of acute asthma in children (cold-asthma) can markedly decrease the levels of CRP,IgE,IL6 and EOS in patients,improve pulmonary function,and can achieve remarkable clinical curative effect.

OBJECTIVETo clone an A3IP gene and investigate its cellular and histological localization based on previous research which has identified part of A3IP sequence interacting with carboxyl-terminal of ataxin-3.

METHODSBioinformatic and Northern blotting were applied to clone the A3IP gene and detect the expression of its transcripts in various human tissues and brain regions. Western blotting and immunofluorescence staining were applied to detect expression of A3IP protein in cultured cells. Immunohistochemistry staining was applied to study the expression of A3IP protein in various human tissues and brain regions.

RESULTScDNA cloning of A3IP gene's reading frame and its sequence assembly were completed. Three transcripts (1 kb, 1.35 kb and 6 kb, respectively) of A3IP were found to express in various human tissues and brain regions. A3IP pEGFP expresses in cytoplasm of cultured COS-7 cells and various human tissues and brain regions including cerebral cortex, cerebellum, muscle, peripheral nerve, liver and kidney.

CONCLUSIONThe cloned A3IP gene encodes A3IP, a novel ataxin-3 interacting protein. Three transcripts of A3IP are expressed in various human tissues and brain regions. A3IP is a cytosolic protein.
