Objective To investigate the osteoclast′s function levels in infants and toddlers and the relationship between the osteoclast function and sex,age,body length,body weight and body mass index(BMI).Methods Sixty-eight children(37 boys and 31 girls,aged from 1 to 36 months) were studied.All of the children were in good health.These children were divided as infants group and toddlers group according to their age.Just before the samples were collected,the children′s body weight,body length were measured and the BMI were calculated.Two biochemical markers,such as serum tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase 5b(TRAP5b) and urine deoxypyridinoline(DPD) were measured.Results The difference of serum TRAP5b concentration between infants and toddlers was significant at the level of P

6.Clinical Evaluation of S-Adenosyl-L-Methionine in Treatment of Jaundice in 202 Newborn Infants

Objective To observe the effect of S-adenosyl-L-methionine(SAMe) in treatment of jaundice in newborns and its mechanism.Methods Two hundred and two newborn infants with jaundice were treated with SAMe,76 cases in control group treated with phototherapy and liver enzyme induction elixir;SAMe 30-60 mg/(kg?d) were added to 202 cases intravenously in treatment group.The total biliorubin(T-BILI),direct bilinrubin(D-BILI) and indirect bilinrubin(I-BILI) were dynamically detected.Results Six days after treatment,the skin jaundice index in treatment group decreased remarkably.T-BILI,D-BILI and I-BILI decreased significantly.The curing effectiveness was higher in treatment group than that in control group.The number of applicating blood products and albumin,and blood produets/albumin were decreased in treatment group than those in control group.In those who used glucose to dissolve the SAMe 2.68% had blood-vessel phlebitis.Conclusions SAMe can efficiently quicken the retrogression of jaundice in newborns.It can reduce the use of blood products.It is a reliable and safe drug to treat jaundice in newborns.
7.Effect of Fuzheng Huayu recipe on CYP450 isozymes in normal and liver fibrosis rats.

To study the effect of Fuzheng Huayu recipe (FZHY) on five types of isozymes of cytochrome P450 (CYP450) of normal and liver fibrosis rats by using the cocktail probe method. Dimethylnitrosamine ( DMN) was injected to induce the liver fibrosis model. After the tail vein injection with Cocktail probe solutions prepared with five CYP450s probe substrates (phenacetin-CYP1A2, omeprazole-CYP2C9, tolbutamide-CYP2C19, dextromethorphan-CYP2D6, midazolam-CYP3A4), the plasma concentrations of the five probe substrates were determined by LC-MS/MS, and the pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by PK solutions 2. After the oral administration with FZHY, normal rats given phenacetin, omeprazole, tolbutamide and dextromethorphan showed increase in AUC(0-t) and decrease in CL to varying degrees, indicating that FZHY obviously inhibited the activities of CYP1A2, CYP2C9, CYP2C19 and CYP2D6 in normal rats, but with no obvious effect on the activity of CYP3A4. After the oral administration with FZHY, liver fibrosis rats treated with CYP2C9 showed the significant increase in AUC(0-t) and significant decrease in Vd, hut with no obvious changes in the pharmacokinetic parameters of other four types of prove substances, suggesting that FZHY could significantly inhibit the activity of CYP2C9 in rats but had no effect on the activities of CYP1A2, CYP2C19, CYP2D6 and CYP3A4. The changes in the activity of CYP450 isozymes in liver fibrosis rats may be the reason for FZHY's different effects on CYP450 isozymes in normal and liver fibrosis rats.

8.Effect of protein tyrosine phosphatase σ on the reactivation of ocular dominance plasticity in the visual cortex of adult rats

Background Chondroitin sulphate proteoglycans (CSPGs) can cause the termination of ocular dominance plasticity in the visual cortex.Recently,protein tyrosine phosphatase σ (PTPσ) has been identified as a receptor that inhibits CSPGs.However,whether PTPσ and its downstream molecules participate in the reactivation of ocular dominance plasticity in adult visual cortex has not been studied.Objective The present study was to investigate the changes in the expression of the PTPσ,probabilistic neural networks (PNNs),and molecules downstream of PNN,such as N-cadherin/β-catenin,after the reactivation of adult visual cortical plasticity.Methods Fifty-four SPF Long Evans rats were grouped according to different postnatal week (PW) as the PW1 (6 rats),PW3 (6 rats),PW5 (6 rats),PW7 (24 rats),and PW9 (12 rats) groups,and the upper and lower eyelids were sutured in the 12 rats from the PW7 group for 14 days to establish the binocular plasticity reactivation models.Expression of PTPσ and PNNs in the rat visual cortex was detected using immunochemistry,and changes of PTPσ mRNA,N-cadherin mRNA and β-catenin mRNA expression in the rat visual cortex with plasticity reactivation were assessed by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (RT Q-PCR).The use of animals followed the Regulations for the Administration of Affairs Concerning Experimental Animals by State Science and Technology Commission.Results The expression level of PTPσ mRNA was significantly higher in the PW9 group than that of the binocular plasticity reactivation models and the PW7 group (t =1.965,3.526,P<0.01).The staining of the rat visual cortex for PTPσwas localized to the cellular membrane,cytoplasm and axon.Cell densities of the PW9 group in the Ⅱ-Ⅲ layer,Ⅳ layer and Ⅴ-Ⅵ layer of the visual cortex were elevated in the PW9 rats compared with the PW7 rats (t =24.593,23.444,13.556,P<0.01) and rats from the binocular plasticity reactivation model (t =44.111,43.000,16.556,P<0.01).Cell densities for PNNs in the Ⅳ and Ⅴ-Ⅵ layers were significantly increased in the PW9 rats in comparison with the PW7 rats (t=1.926,P<0.01 ;t=1.370,P<0.05),but the cell density in the Ⅱ-Ⅱ layer has no statistical significance (t=0.889,P>0.05).However,cell densities for PNNs in the Ⅱ-Ⅲ and Ⅳ layers in the binocular plasticity reactivation models were lower than those of the PW9 rats (t =2.556,4.585,P<0.01).Compared with PW1 rats,the expression levels of the N-cadherin mRNA in the PW3,PW5,PW7,PW9 rats were lower (t =28.932,28.988,27.083,28.908,P<0.01),but those in the PW7 rats were enhanced in comparison with the PW3 rats,PW5 rats and PW9 rats (t =1.848,1.904,1.825,P<0.01).No significant difference was seen in the expression of the N-cadherin mRNA between the PW9 rats and rats from the binocular plasticity reactivation model (t =0.072,P>0.05).A statistically significant increase was found in the β-catenin mRNA expression in the PW1 rats compared with the PW3,PW5,PW7 and PW9 rats (t =3.918,3.534,2.645,4.652,P< 0.0 1),as well as between rats from the binocular plasticity reactivation model and the PW9 rats (t =0.570,P<0.01).Conclusions PTPr,PNNs and β-catenin are involved in the reactivation of ocular dominance plasticity in the adult visual cortex.
9.Surveillance for inapparent syphilis infection in blood donors, attendants and premarital medical examinees in Zhoushan City

Objective To find out severity and types of syphilis infection in blood donors, attendants and persons to have their premrital medical examination in Zhoushan City and offer a new measure for prevention and treatment of syphilis. Methods Totally, 174 589 blood donors, attendants and persons to have their premarital medical examinations were screened preliminarily for inapparent syphilis with non-TPHA, and then TPHA was applied to confirm the diagnosis, according to the National Standard No. GB 15974-1995, combining with clinical symptoms and physical check-up. 10.Effect of tianyuan ketong recipe on the pain behavior, c-fos expression and P substance contents in dorsal horn of spinal cord in formalin induced pain model rats.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect and mechanism of Tianyuan Ketong recipe (TKR) on the pain reaction in formalin induced pain model rats.
METHODSThe analgesic effect of TKR was evaluated using pain behavior graded scoring, the c-fos gene expression and P substance contents in superficial lamella of spinal cord dorsal horn in model rats were analyzed by means of immunohistochemical analysis and computer image analysis technique.
RESULTSTKR could markedly inhibit the pain reaction in model rats (P < 0.05), and the pain induced elevation of c-fos expression and P substance contents could also be suppressed (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONTKR shows definite analgesic effect on formalin induced pain model rats, the reduction of neuron's reaction in spinal cord dorsal horn to afferent noxious stimulation is possibly one of the pathways for its analgesic effect.
