The "Cancer Toxin" pathogenesis theory is an innovate theoretical system for cancer pathogenesis of Chinese Medicine, which was built on the basis of "Cancer Toxin" concept initially raised by Professor ZHOU Zhong-ying. The mechanism of the transformation from inflammation to carcinoma has become one of hot-points in the field of cancer research at home and abroad in recent years. We focused on discussing the relevance of the "Cancer Toxin" pathogenesis theory with the transformation mechanism from inflammation to cancer, provided evidence for using "Cancer Toxin" pathogenesis theory in intervening transformation from inflammation to cancer, hoping to guide for Chinese medical prevention and treatment of tumor.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of hypertension among primary and middle school students living in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, so as to provide insights into comprehensive hypertension control among children and adolescents. Methods: Primary and middle school students at ages of 7 to 17 years were recruited for a questionnaire survey in Suzhou City using the stratified cluster random sampling method from September to December, 2020, and the height and body weight were measured. Blood pressure was measured at three separate clinic visits according to the national criteria Reference of Screening for Elevated Blood Pressure among Children and Adolescents Aged 7-18 Years ( WS/T 610-2018 ), and the detection of elevated blood pressure was estimated at three separate visits. In addition, factors affecting elevated blood pressure were identified. Results: A total of 3 713 students were enrolled, including 1 924 boys ( 51.82% ) and 1 789 girls ( 48.18% ). The detection of elevated blood pressure was 13.63%, 5.36%, and 3.37% at three separate visits, respectively, and the prevalence of hypertension ( elevated blood pressure at all three visits ) was 3.37%. The detection rates of elevated blood pressure were all higher at three visits ( 16.90%, 8.40%, and 5.26% ) among students at ages of 12 to 17 years than among students at ages of 7 to 11 years ( 9.65%, 1.67%, and 1.07%, P<0.05 ). The detection of elevated blood pressure was significantly higher in boys ( 15.23% ) than in girls (11.91%) at the first visit ( P<0.05 ), while no significant differences were seen at the second or third visit ( P>0.05 ). In addition, higher detection rates of elevated blood pressure were seen in obese ( 27.62%, 11.51%, and 7.06% ) and overweight students ( 17.45%, 6.95%, and 4.85% ) than in students with normal weight ( 9.44%, 3.54%, and 2.15% ) at all three visits, and greater detection rates of elevated blood pressure were found in obese students than in overweight students at the first and second visits ( P<0.017 ). Conclusions The prevalence of hypertension was 3.37% based on three separate visits among primary and middle school students in Suzhou City. Measurement of blood pressure at three separate visits within different days is effective to reduce the false positive rate of hypertension and decrease misdiagnosis among children and adolescents.

Objective To study the role of hematopoietic growth factor(HGF)of placenta chorionic villus in fetal hematopoiesis during embryo ontogeny by observation of the appearance time and the content changes with the fetal growth, which was compared with HGF in cord blood. Methods Thirty embryo villus (2 g each) and 30 cord blood (2 mL each) were collected separately from early pregnant stage(6- 8 weeks), middle pregnant stage(16-22 weeks)and late pregnant stage (37-42 weeks). Objective: To investigate the influencing factors for myopia among primary and secondary school students in Suzhou, so as to provide basis for myopia prevention and control. Methods: The students in Grade 4-12 were recruited by stratified cluster random sampling method. Gender, grade, parents＇ myopia history, outdoor activity time and video display terminal time were collected through the questionnaire of National Surveillance Program of Influencing Factors for Common Diseases and Health in Students. Uncorrected visual acuity and cycloplegic refraction were tested. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to explore myopia-related factors. Results: A total of 990 questionnaires were distributed, and 882 valid questionnaires were recovered, with an effective rate of 89.09%. The prevalence rate of myopia was 78.23% ( 690 cases ). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that females ( OR=1.703, 95%CI: 1.173-2.474 ) , middle school students ( OR:5.597-11.949, 95%CI: 3.573-28.349 ) , both parents＇myopia ( OR=2.445, 95%CI: 1.597-3.742 ) , video display terminal time over 3 hours per day ( OR=2.026, 95%CI: 1.235-3.325 ) were risk factors for myopia; outdoor activity time over 2 hours per day ( OR: 0.493-0.510, 95%CI: 0.273-0.943 ) was a protective factor for myopia. Conclusion The prevalence of myopia among primary and secondary school students in Suzhou is 78.23%. Gender, grade, parents＇ myopia history, outdoor activity time and video display terminal time are influencing factors for myopia.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the therapeutic effect of Corbrin shugan capsule for treatment of alcoholic hepatic fibrosis in rats.

METHODSThe rat model of alcoholic hepatic fibrosis was induced by intragastric administration of alcohol repeatedly. The serum procollagen III (PC III), laminin (LN) and tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinase-1 (TIMP-1) levels were measured with ELISA, and the content of hydroxyproline (Hyp) in liver tissue were determined with colorimetric method. Collagen deposition in liver tissue was observed with Masson's staining, and the fibrosis area was measured with digital medical image analysis system (Motic Med 6.0).

RESULTSCompared with the model control group, the serum TIMP-1 and LN levels and hepatic fibrosis area in liver tissue significantly decreased in Corbrin shugan capsule groups with doses of 0.09,0.27 and 0.45 g*kg(-1), and the serum PC III and the Hyp contents in liver tissue also decreased of Corbrin shugan capsule groups with doses of 0.27 and 0.45g*kg(-1).

CONCLUSIONCorbrin shugan capsule can decrease serum PC III, TIMP-1 and LN levels and Hyp levels in liver tissue and hepatic fibrosis area in rats, indicating it may have therapeutic effect on alcoholic hepatic fibrosis.

ABSTRACT:China has a very high incidence of gastric cancer.Chinese medicine has advantages in the treating of gastric canc-er.Professor Zhou Zhong-yin,awarded National Chinese Medical Science Master,has put forward the theory of cancerous tox-in pathogenesis theory based on his long-term clinical experience.Better effect of the treatment of gastric cancer has been con-firmed by the application of cancerous toxin pathogenesis theory on gastric cancer patients.Cancerous toxin remaining in the stomach is the key pathogenesis of gastric cancer.Cancerous toxin always intermingled with phlegm turbidity,blood stasis, damp turbidity and toxic heat is very common in the patients with gastric cancer.So the principle and treatment of gastric canc-er is the combination of anti-cancer while removing toxic material and other therapeutic principle,such as regulating qi and har-monizing stomach,clearing heat and promoting diuresis,promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis,reducing phlegm and resolving masses and reinforcing deficiency.

OBJECTIVETo discuss the present status and progress of clinical research on the cognitive effects caused by different types of brain tumors and common treatments.

DATA SOURCESThe data used in this review were mainly from PubMed articles published in English from 1990 to Febuary 2012. Research terms were "cognitive deficits" or "cognitive dysfunction".

STUDY SELECTIONArticals including any information about brain tumor related cognitive deficits were selected.

RESULTSIt is widely accepted that brain tumors and related treatments can impair cognitive function across many domains, and can impact on patients' quality of life. Tumor localization, lateralization, surgery, drugs, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are all thought to be important factors in this process. However, some conflicting findings regarding brain tumor-related cognitive deficits have been reported. It can be difficult to determine the mechanism of these treatments, such as chemotherapy, antibiotics, antiepileptics, and steroids. Future research is needed to clarify these potential treatment effects.

CONCLUSIONSCognitive function is important for patients with brain tumor. Much more focus has been paid on this field. It should be regarded as an important prognostic index for the patients with brain tumor, and neuropsychological tests should be used in regular examinations.

OBJECTIVETo compare the roles of Gd-EOB-DTPA-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) using the liver acquisition with volume acceleration(LAVA) sequence and diffusion-weighted imaging(DWI) in the detection of hepatic metastases sized ≤3 cm.

METHODSWe retrospectively analyzed the MRI data of 16 patients with hepatic metastases. All the sequences used included T1WI, T2WI,3D-LAVA, and DWI (b value=500 s/mm(2)). All patients were divided into two groups based on the sequences: group A (T1WI, T2WI, and 3D-LAVA enhanced MR) and group B(T1WI,T2WI and DWI). The hepatic metastases were evaluated by analyzing the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves.

RESULTSA total of 39 hepatic metastatic lesions were identified. The sensitivity, specificity, Youden index and the area under the ROC curve (AUC) were 97.4%, 88.2%, 0.856, and 0.944 in group A and 82.1%, 91.2%, 0.733, and 0.834 in group B. The ROC curves (p=0.040) and Youden index(p=0.043) in group A were significantly larger than in group B.

CONCLUSIONGadolinium-EOB-DTPA-enhanced MRI has higher accuracy than DWI in the detection of small metastases.
