1.Measurement of Cognitive Functions of Elderly.
Korean Journal of Rehabilitation Nursing 2004;7(1):7-14
To examine the cognitive function of elderly, the study examined the performance of Korean normal elderly population whose age over 65 using neuropsychological instruments. It was predicted that the performance of the Korean population would be different from the U, S. mainly due to their difference in language, culture, and education. Korean elderly people from the Chungchung and Daejeon Metropolitan city(n=97) participated. Two age scores were developed: below 74 years and over 75 years. The effect of age, gender and education was examined, which yield significant age, gender and education effect. The score of DSF, DSB, TMTA, and TMTB are expected to be utilized for research purposes, such as basic, clinical, epidemiological studies, as well as practice purposes such as diagnosis and assessment of the progression of cognitive decline and dementia with MMSE-K.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1988;23(4):1195-1200
Internal fixation of fractures always represents a race between the time required for bone healing and the inevitable fatigue failure of implant. The authors clinically analyzed the cause of metal failure in 34 cases at Department of Orthopedic surgery, Taegu Medical Center from Jan. 1981 to Dec. 1987. 1. Metal failure occured in 29 compression plates, 1 Kuntscher nail, 1 Jewett nail, 1 Ender nail, and 2 semitubular plates. 2. Involved bones were the femur in 28 cases, tibia in 3 cases, humerus in 1 cases, and the ulna in 2 csses. 3. The time interval between internal fixation and metal failure was average 7 months. 4. The cause of metal failure was deficiency of medial buttress in 14 cases and incorrect position of implant in 19 cases, and incorrect selection of implant in 1 case. 5. (Autogenic) Bone graft was not performed in the primary surgical treatment of 31 cases.

The Journal of the Korean Orthopaedic Association 1989;24(3):786-793
Infected nonunion continues to be a major therapeutic challenge. Twenty-five cases of infected nonunion of tibia were trested by Papineau's cancellous bone graft at Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Taegu Medical Center from Jan. 1981 to Dec. 1987. The results were as follows. 1. Decortication, sequestrectomy and cancellous bone graft were performed simultaneously in every case. 2. Osseous union and eradication of infection were obtained at average 8 months.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1985;21(5):812-818
The ossification of posterior longitudinal ligament of the spine(OPLL) is newly recongnized clinical entity, although compression of the spinal cord by an OPLL was reported by key as early as in 1839 in Guy's HospitalReport. OPLL was noticeable in lateral tomography as an abnormal dense radiopacity along the posterior margins ofthe vertebral body. Authors retrospectively analysed the diagnostic values and findings of lateral tomography ofthe cervical spine in 11 cases at Kang Nam General Hospital Public Corporation during 1 yr from July 1984 to June1985. The results were as follows; 1. Among suspected 11 cases of OPLL, 9 cases were confiremd as OPLL on lateraltomogram. 2. Age range was 25 years old to 55 years old and more prevalent age was over 5th decades & male wasmore involved than female. 3. Frequent involvement was C2-C5 level and number of vertebral bodies involved was 3.6in average. 4. This ossification developed 4 modes, a continuous type 11%, segmental 33%, mixed type 33%,circumscribed type in 22%. 5. OPLL thickness were from 2mm to 4.5mm and spnal canal narrowing ratio were form 25%to 44% and there were norational relationships between clinical symptom and thicknness of OPLL. 6. On diagnosis ofOPLL, lateral tomography is accurate and recommendable screening study due to easy, noninvasive, indisipensable and less harmful technique, compared to those of myelography or computed tomography.

8.Histopathologic findings of necrotizing lymphadenitis.
Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1993;10(2):485-492
Necrotizing lymphadenitis was first recognised as a self-limiting lymphadenitis by Japanese workers in 1972. It is a distinct clinicopathologic entity, but can be mistaken as malignant lymphoma. We have studied clinicopathologic features in 15 cases of necrotizing lymphadenitis. This disease occurs predominantly in young adult. Male-female ratio is 2 : 1. The commonest presentation is lateral cervical lymphadenopathy. Pain, tenderness, and fever can be seen. Biopsy of the lymph nodes from all patients demonstrates the characteristic histologic features : multifocal, relatively circumscribed nodules in the cortex and/or paracortex, consisting of a mixture of activated large lymphoid cells, histiocytes and Small lymphocytes. Numerous karyorrhetic debris are present. Neutrophils and plasma cells are strikingly absent.

10.The effect of interleukin 2 on the induction Of Nk 1.1 expression in CD8+ and CD4-CD8-T Cell.

Journal of Asthma, Allergy and Clinical Immunology 1998;18(2):290-298
BACKGROUND: Murine IL-2-induced lymphokine-activated killers can be divided into two mutually exclusive subset:NK1.1'CD8 and NK1.1 CD8+. However, there is a strong evidence that NK cell may belong to T cell lineage. Recently novel lymphocyte subsets, present in the adult murine thymus, CD3+NK1.1'TCRap(TNK) cell is readily identifiable in fresh obtained murine adult CD4 CD8 thymocytes. MATERIAL AND METHOD: We sorted out CD4 and CD8 (double negative.' DN) cells and CD8+ cells from murine spleen and cultivated these cells with IL-2. And the surface B220, CD8, NK1. 1 and cytopasmic NK1.1 was analysed simultaneously to see whether these cells can be switched to the other subtype of cells. RESULT: Purified DN cells were switched to several subtype of cells'. CD8'B220+(LAK cells), NK1.1'B220+(LAK cells), CD8 B220, cytoplasmic NK1.1+B220 cells. Purified CD8 cells were switched to CD8+B220' LAK cells and cytoplasmic NK1.1+ CD8+ B220+ and cytoplasmic NK1.1' CD8 B220 cells. In addition, the CD8' cells originated from DN cells do not express the cytoplasmic NK1.1 in contrary to the sorted CD8 cells. CONCLUSION: Our results indicated that these will be useful models to investigating CD8 precursor potentials in populations of CD4 CD8 (doble negative) cells and relationship of NK1.1 These results also supports the hypothesis that T cells and NK cells have same ontogeny and CD8 effector functions are potentially diverse and could be exploited by various conditions that switch off host protected cytolytic response. These model offer a way to study the molecular regulation of CD8 gene expression.
