A case of congenital self-healing histiocytosis was studied with S-100 antibody and electron microscopy. BACKGROUND: Transforming growth factor-beta(TGF-beta) has multiple regulatory effects on cells of the immune system, and it has been suggested that differentiation of lymphoid cells is influenced by low concentra tions of this cytokine. OBJECTIVES: The aim or this study was to investigate the role of TGF-beta in regulation of T cell growth and differentiation, and to compare this effect with that of other cell signals known to be important in T cell ontogeny. METHODS: We used the CTLL-2 cell line in the presence of IL-2. Surface phenotype expression was analysed to see whether these cells could be switched to the other subtype of cells. RESULT: Treatment of CTLL-2 cells with TGF-beta resulted in dose dependent growth inhibition and morphological changes. Curing routine passage, less than 5% of cells were CD8alpha positive, whereas 38% of cells expressed CD8alpha when treated with IL-2 plus TGF-beta. However, TPA plus calcium ionophore, IFN-gamma, or TNF-alpha caused no significant changes in the proportion of CD8 cells. CONCLUSION: Our results show that this experiment can be a useful model for investigating CD8 precursor potentials in populations of CD4-CD8-(double negative) cells, and such a model may offer a way to study the molecular regulation of CD8 gene expression.

Eccrine spiradenoma is clinically characterized by a solitary, movable, tender noduie occurring most frequently on the ventral surfase of the upper body. A striking symptom is paroxysmal pain. Histopathologically, the encapsulated lobules of the tumor are composed of masses of basophilic cells, usually arranged in whorls, cords, and pseudogland.s. Within the whorls and pseudoglands, two types of celIs are notedperipheral intensely staining cells and central pale-staining cells. We describe herein a patient with an indolent eccrine spiradenoma, which had been diagnosed histopathologically.

Aspirin(ASA) and NSAIDs can induce bronchoconstriction in 10~20% of adult asthmatics patients. Inhalation of lysine-ASA(L-ASA) has been described as an alternative method for diagnosis of ASA-sensitive asthma. To further understand the characterlstics of ASA-sensitive asthmas. we studied 38 asthmatic patients with ASA -sensitivity (36 intrinsic and 2 extrinsic asthma) proven by L-ASA bronchoprovocation test (BPT). Most were female (male to female ratio was 27:73). Twenty (53%) of them had no previous history of adverse reactions when exposed to ASA. Twenty nine (79%) had rhino-sinusitis symptoms. Early asthmatic response was observed in 16 (42%) patients, late only response in 16(42%), and dual response in 6(16%) patients. The threshold of L-ASA to provoke a positive response ranged from 11.2 to 180 mg/ml and most (68.3%) had a positive response after the inhalation of 180 mg/ml. Concurrent sensitivity to sulfite was noted in 14 (36%) patients, followed by sensitivity to tartrazine in one (3%) patient. None showed a positive response to sodium benzoate. After the avoidance from ASA/ NSAIDs with administration of anti-asthmatic medications, symptom and medication scores reduced in 26(87%) patients among 30 followed patients. They were classified into the improved group: four (13%) patients belonged to the not-improved group. There were no significant differences in clinical characteristics between the improved and not- improved group (p>0.05). In conclusion, L-ASA BPT could be considered as a useful method to diagnose ASA -sensitive asthma and be used to screen the causative agent for asthmatic patients with intrinsic type, especially in female patients with rhino-sinusitis and/or nasal polyp, even though they do not have arty history of adverse reactions. Cessation of exposure and proper treatment may allow to reduce symptom and medication scores.

Meigs' syndrome is defined as a hydrothorax with ascites and a pelvic tumor, both of which resolve on removal of the tumor. Pseudo-Meigs' syndrome is a variant not possessing the original tumor cell types described by Meigs. Both these syndromes should be considered in otherwise healthy women who present with either new or recurrent hydrothorax and ascites. Pseudo-Meigs' syndrome occurs with the clinical triad of (1)ascites, (2)pleural effusion and (3)Brenner tumors, struma ovarii, benign thecomas, extreme ovarian edema, uterine leiomyomas or other benign pelvic tumors. A case of Pseudo-Meigs' syndrome associated with Brenner tumor is presented with a brief review of literatures.

PURPOSE: The objectives of the study were to examine university students' health behavior, depression, and ego-resilience in order to understand the relationship between these variables, and to identify factors influencing ego-resilience. METHODS: Data were collected from a sample of 302 students attending G University. The data collection period was from October 28, 2015 to December 21, 2015. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression with the SPSS Statistics version 23 Program. RESULTS: The number of close friends was weakly correlated with depression and ego-resilience: specifically, the number of close friends had a weak negative correlation with depression, and a weak positive correlation with ego-resilience. Factors significantly influencing the students' ego-resilience were depression, type of residence, frequency of exercise, and gender, with a total explanatory power of 18%. CONCLUSION: These findings indicate that intervention programs to improve ego-resilience should be developed. Research into ego-resilience should be replicated with students from a variety of cultural background and diverse study areas.

Sixty-five volunteers whose skin had never been tanned intentionally participated in this experiment. The skin colors of extensor and flexor of forearm, fore-head, and cheek were measured with Color and Color Difference Meter(Nippon Denshoku Kogyo Co. CP6R 1001-DP) which represents .kin color as 'L, a, and b in values. The L, a', and b values mean the degree of ligntness, redness, and yellowness respectively. Measurement has been performed seven times repeatedly in a year at regular intervals. From the study, the following results were obtained. ]'lexor skin of forearm showed the highest lightness in a year compared to the other regions. All of the regions examined showed the highest lightness in spring compared to the other seasons. 3. Cheek skin showed the highest redness among the four checked regions in a year. 4, All of the checked regions showed the higher redness in summer than in spring. and autumn. 5 All of the checked regions showed the lowest yellowness in May.
