Korean Journal of Dermatology 1983;21(4):483-487
Eccrine spiradenoma is clinically characterized by a solitary, movable, tender noduie occurring most frequently on the ventral surfase of the upper body. A striking symptom is paroxysmal pain. Histopathologically, the encapsulated lobules of the tumor are composed of masses of basophilic cells, usually arranged in whorls, cords, and pseudogland.s. Within the whorls and pseudoglands, two types of celIs are notedperipheral intensely staining cells and central pale-staining cells. We describe herein a patient with an indolent eccrine spiradenoma, which had been diagnosed histopathologically.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1983;21(2):243-247
Acinic cell tumor, a rare tumor of the salivary gland origin, consists of cells similar to the serous cells of the salivary gland. The tumor is almost exclusively paroti4 gland origin, accounting for 2. 7 to 4. 0% of all parotid tumors. The tumor is not, benign but has at least a low-grade malignant potential. We described herein a case of acinic cell tumor which had occurred on an unusual site, right inner epicanthal area of a 9-year-old girl Microscopically, a hematoxylin-eosin stained biopsy specimen showed rnany lobules com of round or polyhedral tumor cells. Each tumor cell had distinct cell membrane, clear cytoplasm, and relative1y eccentric nucleus. The cytoplasm of tumor cell cantaine4 diastase resistant PAS-positive material.

Epithelioid smooth muscle tumor is relatively rare and potentially malignant, especially in retroperitoneum. Distinct criteria for malignancy still have not been clarified in this epithelioid variant arising in retroperitoneum. We report a deceptively benign-appearing epithelioid leiomyosarcoma in a 50-year-old female. She was admitted with abdominal discomfort and dysuria. Abdominal CT showed a well-demarcated, 10 10 cm sized, solid mass in retroperitoneum. Concomitant metastatic lesions were noted in right lung field. Surgical excision of retroperitoneal mass and right lung lobectomy were performed. The retroperitoneal mass showed yellowish-tan, well-delineated and lobulated appearance. Histologically, this tumor was composed of predominantly epithelioid, round to oval cells with distinct clear cytoplasm and slightly atypical nuclei. Mitosis was rare (0~1/50 HPF). Lung lesions were morphologically similar to that of retroperitoneum.

6.Biocidal Effect of Hypochlorous Acid Solution, Neolox against Pathogenic Microorganisms.
Soonchunhyang Medical Science 2016;22(2):115-118
OBJECTIVE: Disinfection/sterilization of hospital devices prevents the occurrence of several infections; therefore, disinfectants are essential for public health. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the biocidal effect of a hypochlorous acid solution. METHODS: Hypochlorous acid solution, Neolox (Neo Chemical, Paju, Korea) obtained from Purester (Morinaga Engineering, Tokyo, Japan) was used. Antimicrobial activity of the solution against bacteria, yeasts, and mycobacteria at different exposure times (0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, and 30 minutes) was evaluated. RESULTS: All strains of bacteria and yeasts showed a 5-log10 reduction within 30 seconds of exposure to the solution, and mycobacteria showed the same reduction within 2 minutes. CONCLUSION: Hypochlorous acid solution has been widely used as a disinfectant in recent years. Neolox can be used as an effective intermediate- to high-level disinfectant for hospital infection control.

7.Antimicrobial Activity of Medizyme-Plus, Developed for Cleansing Prior to Disinfection/Sterilization.
Soonchunhyang Medical Science 2016;22(2):112-114
OBJECTIVE: Disinfectants are essential for public health and environmental hygiene. The aim of this study was to investigate the in vitro antimicrobial activity of Medizyme-Plus (Soosan Co. Ltd., Seongnam, Korea) developed for cleansing prior to disinfection/ster-ilization, against bacteria and yeasts. METHODS: Clinical isolates were exposed to Medizyme-Plus (a product containing quaternary ammonium and a protease, amylase, and lipase) for various periods (0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, and 30 minutes). After exposure, the mixtures of isolates and Medizyme-Plus were inoculated into tryptic soy broths. To enumerate the surviving bacteria or yeasts, treated isolates were inoculated onto solid agar media (blood agar, MacConkey agar, and Sabouraud dextrose agar) and cultured at 35℃. RESULTS: All strains of bacteria and yeasts showed a 5-log10 reduction within 0.5 minutes of exposure to Medizyme-Plus. CONCLUSION: Medizyme-Plus can be used as a low-level disinfectant, in addition to cleanser, for hospital infection control. It will be necessary to perform disinfection/sterilization after cleansing with Medizyme-Plus.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1985;23(6):837-841
Verrucous czrcinoma is a well accepted clinicopathologic entity that is a lowgrade variant of squamous cell carcinoma. This tumor develops typically in moist areas which are frequent site of chronic inflammation. We herein report a case of verrucous carcinoma developed in a burn scar on. the posterolateral aspect of left popliteal fossa.

A 18-month-old girl was seen because of an yellowish brown papular eruptions on the face, earlobes and neck of one year duration. A skin biopsy specimen revealed circumscribed cellular infiltrates composed of predorninantly pleornorphic histiocytes. Electron microscopy of biopsy material disclosed numerous worm like particles and coated vescles in limited area of the cell cytoplasm, consistent with the findinga described in benign cephalic histiocytosis. After six months of her first visit, the individual papules became flattened.

10.Malignant Histiocytic Lymphoma Associated with Celiac Disease: A Case Report.

Korean Journal of Pathology 1986;20(2):195-198
The celiac disease is an immunologic disorder, related to dietary gluten and morphologically characterized by a striking loss of villi in the small intestine and, with it, a marked reduction in the absorptive surface area. The authors experienced a rare case of pathologically confirmed malinant histiocytic lymphoma of jejunum, associated with celiac disease which was histologically manifested with ulcerative jejunitis in a 25-year-old Korean female who had suffered from projectile vomiting for 2 months. We report this case with literature review emphasis on the pathogenesis of malignant neoplasm in celiac disease and pathogenetic relationship between ulcerative jejunitis and celiac disease. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case of malignant histiocytic lymphoma complicating celiac disease with ulcerative jejunitis, in Korea.
