The authors observed 5 cases with leukonychia striata caused by Trichophyton rubrum infection. They were 4 males and 1 female in the 28-32 years age group. In 4 of the 5 cases the lesions disappeared in 1-3 months with treatment-avulsion of the involved nails followed by oral griseofulvin 500mg/day, one case did not have follow-up observation.

A statistical observation ryas made on Genito-Urinary-Tract injuries of Korean Army Personnel in Vietnam War during the period of November, 1965 to November, 1966. and the following results were obtained. 1. The Genito-Urinary-Tract injuries were 15 cases(5.3 per cent) among 825 war causalities. 2. As for the causes of injuries, 25 cases (55.5 per cent) were caused by gunshot, 9(20.O per cent) by booby trap, 5(11. O per cent) by mortar, 3(6.6 per cent) each by crush and grenade. 3. Concerning the frequency of injuries in each organ, 12 cases (6. 6 per cent) each were observed in urethra, in scrotum and testis, 10 (22.2 per cent) in kidney, 8 (17.7 per cent) in bladder, and 3 {6. 6 per cent) in penis. 4.The incidence of Genito-Urinary-Tract injuries associated with the other organs was as follows. In kidney injuries, Z cases were associated with intestine, 4 with liver, 3 with spleen and one each with radial nerve and iliac vessel. In bladder injuries. 2 cases were associated with pelvic bone, and one with spleen. In urethra injuries, 6 cases were associated with pelvic bone and 2 with intestine. 5. As for the multiplicity of Genito-Urinary-injuries, 4 cases were observed in scrotum, testis and urethra, and 3 each in urethra and bladder, and scrotum and testis. 6. PURPOSE: To determine if the urine specific gravity(SG) plays a role in enuresis, the first morning urine SG of the healthy preschool nocturnal enuretic was compared with that of the nonenuretic. The results of desmopressin were analyzed according to the pretreatment urine SG to know if the urine SG can predict the responsiveness of the medication. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Five hundred twenty healthy preschool children aged 3-6 years were entered in this prospective observer-blinded study. A comparison was made between SG of the first morning urine specimen and results of questionnaire concerning the bed wetting and voiding habits of children. The responsiveness to oral desmopressin(0.2-0.4mg h.s.) in 14-day treatment periods was also analyzed according to the urine SG in 28 children with enuresis. The responder group was defined as a reduction of at least 50% from the number of wet night. RESULTS: The incidence of enuresis was 8.6 percent. Stastistically significant difference was found between the bedwetter and nonbedwetter group with regard to the urine SG(p<0.05). The overall response rate of desmopressin was 68 percent. There was no significant difference between the responder and nonresponder group with respect to urine SG. CONCLUSIONS: The first morning urine of the enuretic showed higher probability of lower level of the SG than that of the nonenuretic. Treatment with desmopressin was associated with a significant decrease in the number of wet night, but clinical response was not predictable based on the first morning urine SG.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the diametral tensile strength of polymer-based temporary crown and fixed partial denture (FPD) materials, and the change of the diametral tensile strength with time. MATERIAL AND METHODS: One monomethacrylate-based temporary crown and FPD material (Trim) and three dimethacrylate-based ones (Protemp 3 Garant, Temphase, Luxtemp) were investigated. 20 specimens (the empty set 4 mm x 6 mm) were fabricated and randomly divided into two groups (Group I: Immediately, Group II: 1 hour) according to the measurement time after completion of mixing. Universal Testing Machine was used to load the specimens at a cross-head speed of 0.5 mm/min. The data were analyzed using one-way ANOVA, the multiple comparison Scheffe test and independent sample t test (alpha = 0.05). RESULTS: Trim showed severe permanent deformation without an obvious fracture during loading at both times. There were statistically significant differences among the dimethacrylate-based materials. The dimethacrylate-based materials presented an increase in strength from 5 minutes to 1 hour and were as follows: Protemp 3 Garant (23.16 - 37.6 MPa), Temphase (22.27 - 28.08 MPa), Luxatemp (14.46 - 20.59 MPa). Protemp 3 Garant showed the highest value. CONCLUSION: The dimethacrylate-based temporary materials tested were stronger in diametral tensile strength than the monomethacrylate-based one. The diametral tensile strength of the materials investigated increased with time.

One case of malignant acanthosis nigricans associated with internal malignany and oral florid papilloma has been presented and reviewed the subject of malignant acanthosis nigricans. The patient who was 34 year old man had been affected generalixed dark brownish hyperpigmentation with papillomatoses especially on forehead, neck, axillae, umbilical area, anogenital area, webs of fingers, palms and soles. And characteristically it was associated with severe florid papilloma on mucous membrane such as buccal mucosa, lip and glans penis. Histopathologically, internal malignancy was confirmed metastatic adenocarcinoma of stomach after autopsy, although previous biopsy finding was squamous cell carcinoma when explorative laparatomy was done. The response to Bleomycin, new antibiotic anticancer drug, followed by intravenous injection is good and satisfying. But the patient died due to sudden pulmonary hemorrhage which are serious side effect of Bleomycin.

There are two major types of vascular birthmarks, hemangiomas, those demonstrating endothelial hyperplasia, and malformation, those with normal endothelial turnover. Venous malformations have previously been treated by surgical excision, where possible. Although not a panacea for all such tumors, the use of sclerosing agents is decidedly preferable in some cases to extirpation with a scapel. The method involves the direct injection of absolute alcohol into the lesion on the fluoroscopic guide. The effect of treatment is satisfactory and there appears tobe no long term complication. We report 2 cases of surgically irresectable and deep-seated venous malformation which were treated sclerotherapy using ethanol.

Erythropoietic protoporphyria, sometimes also called erythrohepitic protoporphyria or simple protoporphyria, is a heritable detect of heme synthesis in which the last enzyme of the heme synthetic pathway, ferrochelatase(or heme synthetase), is functioning subopt,imally. A 23-year-old male has experi nced erythema and edema on the fae and hands during or immediately after sun exposure, since 3 years of age. The skin lesions have been accompanied by severe itching, a buring sensation and pain. Severe episodes were followed hy head iche and vomiting. We have seen a case of erythropoietic protoporphyria presenting clinically and histo athologically, wit.h a skin lesion on the sun exposured area, and free erthrocyte protoporphyrin serologically.
