4.Relationship Between Central Corneal Thickness and Scleral Thickness in Korean Glaucomatous Patients.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2010;51(11):1485-1490
PURPOSE: To evaluate the correlation between central corneal thickness (CCT) and scleral thickness (ST) in glaucoma patients. METHODS: Seventy-eight eyes of 78 patients with no previous history of intraocular surgery and 23 control eyes were enrolled in the present study. For all eyes, CCT, ST, axial length, anterior chamber depth and refractive error were measured by a single examiner. The correlations among the measurements were analyzed. RESULTS: The mean patient age was 57.32 +/- 9.44 years, and the mean CCT was 532.80 +/- 43.75 microm. The mean CCT of ocular hypertension (576.00 +/- 26.59 microm) was thicker than that of the normal control group (530.30 +/- 35.34 microm, p = 0.028), although the mean STs of the groups were not significantly different. No significant correlation was found between CCT and ST (r = -0.073, p = 0.466). CONCLUSIONS: In the present study, no correlation between CCT and ST was observed. In addition, the STs of the groups were not significantly different.

There are 3 basic methods for surgical treatment of axillary osmidrosis; 1) method that removes only subcutaneous cellular tissue without removing skin 2) method that removes skin and subcutaneous cellular tissue en bloc, and 3) method that partially removes skin and subcutaneous cellular en bloc as well as removing the subcutaneous cellular tissue of the adjacent region. We studied the results of partial removal of the skin and subcutaneous cellular tissue en bloc, as well as the removal of subcutaneous cellular tissue of the adjacent region to compare the results of the bipedicled flap with the graft conversion method. There was no difference between two methods in results and complication rates. There are 3 advantage to this procedure. First, about 70-80% of apocrine glands were centrally distributed among the axillary hairbearing region therefore, resection of the central portion of axillary hair distribution area is important for good result. Second, the preservation of the subdermal plexus with careful excision of adjacent underlying subcutaneous tissue under the aid of the magnifying surgical loupe, is important for good wound healing. Third, the central excision of the axillary hair distribution area provides good exploration for undermining and defatting of the undersurface of the adjacent area, therefore it tooks a shorter operation time.

7.Intrageneric Relationships of Trichoderma Based on Internal Transcribed Spacers and 5.8S rDNA Nucleotide Sequences.

Mycobiology 2000;28(1):11-16
The nucleotide sequences of the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) regions of the ribosomal DNA including the 5.8S ribosomal RNA gene (rDNA) have been determined for 11 species in order to analyze their intrageneric relationships. The total length of these sequences ranged from 530 nucleotides for Trichoderma reesei KCTC 1286 to 553 nucleotide for Trichoderma koningii IAM 12534. Generally speaking, the length of ITS1 region was about 30 nucleotides longer than that of the ITS2 region. Also, the sequences of 5.8S rDNA were more conserved in length and variation than those of ITS regions. Although the variable ITS sequences were often ambiguously aligned, the conserved sites were also found. Thus, a neighbor-joining tree was constructed using the full sequence data of the ITS regions and the 5.8S rDNA. The Trichoderma genus used to be grouped on the basis of the morphological features and especially the shape of phialides needs to be reexamined. The phylogenetic tree displayed the presence of monophylogeny in the species of Trichoderma. Therefore, it was difficult to distinguish the intrageneric relationships in the Trichoderma genus.

Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1992;9(2):422-426
One case of congenital cutis aplasia is presented. The defect involved includes full-thickness skin defect of scalp and cranium. The patient was treated with debridement of dirty necrosed crust which covered exposed dura mater and with double opposing rotation flap including pericranium for bone regeneration. The donor site was covered with skin graft from right thigh. During operation, the superficial temporal artery was found to be short and weak. And after operation, the margin of flap were congested and finally necrotized. The necrotic wound was treated with conservative management. The vascular impairment is thought to be main course of congenital cutis aplasia. So we conclude that the treatment of choice is conservative management or careful flap surgery for coverage of defect area.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2021;62(6):820-825
Purpose:
To identify the correlation between near work and the occurrence of delayed-onset consecutive esotropia after surgery for intermittent exotropia.
Methods:
A survey and retrospective review were conducted on patients in two groups. The study included patients who visited from January 2019 to January 2020. Patients who re-developed esodeviation after recovering orthophoria after the initial postoperative overcorrection for the surgical correction of intermittent exotropia were included in the delayed-onset esotropia group (Group 1), and patients with persistent orthotropia for at least 3 years after bilateral lateral rectus recession for intermittent exotropia were included in Group 2. We evaluated the daily frequency and hours of distanceear work in both groups.
Results:
A total of 42 patients were evaluated. Preoperative exodeviation at a distance was 28.5 ± 4.4 prism diopters (PD) in group 1 and 30.5 ± 5.2 PD in group 2, with no significant difference between the two groups. The percentages of patients who chose two or more extremely near-work activities a day were 47.8% and 15.8% for groups 1 and 2, respectively; these values were statistically significant (p = 0.02). Twelve patients in Group 2 answered “watching TV” (63.2%) as the most common activity, which was statistically significant compared to Group 1 (26.1% in Group 1, p = 0.02). The total numbers of hours of extremely near-work a day were 2.7 ± 2.1 and 1.5 ± 1.2 hours for groups 1 and 2, respectively, which was also statistically significant (p = 0.037).
Conclusions
We found a significant correlation with occurrence of delayed-onset consecutive esotropia with the frequency and hours of extremely near-work after bilateral lateral rectus recession for intermittent exotropia. More attention to extremely near-work should be considered carefully after bilateral lateral rectus recession for intermittent exotropia.
