BACKGROUND: Increasing evidences from experimental studies indicate that apoptosis may be inversely related to angiogenesis in tumor progression. MATERIAL AND METHOD: To explore how apoptosis correlates with tumor angiogenesis, we measured the apoptotic index(AI) using the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase method(Apop Tag In Situ Apoptosis Detection Kit, ONCOR) and the intratumoral microvessel density using the anti-CD31 monoclonal antibody in non-small cell lung cancer. RESULT: Statistical analysis revealed an inverse correlation between AIs and intratumoral microvessel densities in squamous cell lung carcinoma(Spearman rank correlation coefficient r=- 0.229, p=0.047). CONCLUSION: The results of this study demonstrated that the amount of apoptosis in squamous cell lung carcinoma may be influenced by the extent of neovascularization. This suggests that tumor angiogenesis may contribute to a reduction of apoptosis in tumor cells.

2.The Management of Posterior Lens Dislocation.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1996;37(1):57-62
From Nov. 1990 to Dec. 1994, authors have experienced 12 patients(13 eyes) diagnosed as posterior lens dislocation. The clinical results were evaluated in aspeets of sex and age distribution, preoperative and postoperative visual acuity, operative method, postoperative complication. The average age of patients was 57.8 years old and average follow-up period was 11.5 months. Male were 58%. They have history of ocular trauma in all 13 eyes. Dislocated lens was removed by extraction with lens spoon or loop through corneoscleral incision in 3 eyes and pars planar vitrectomy followed by lens lift with needle and extraction through corneoscleral incision in 7 eyes or with perfluorocarbon liquid and extraction with spoon or loop in 3 eyes. The best corrected visual acuity was improved in 10 eyes and remained the same in 2 patient(3 eyes) who was visited our hospital more than 10 years after dislocation and associated with optic nerve atrophy, macular degeneration, bullous keratopathy. Postoperative complications included glaucoma, choroidal detachment, retinal detachment, persistent vitreous inflammation, vitreous hemorrhage, bullous keratopathy.

Korean Journal of Hospice and Palliative Care 2010;13(2):81-88
PURPOSE: This study was conducted to study the attitude of Korean lawyers toward withdrawal of life sustaining treatment, and compare and analyze different types of their attitudes. METHODS: Research design of this project was Q methodology approach. The study population was 24 lawyers, aged from 32 to 69 years. Q sample to investigate the attitude of the lawyers toward withdrawal of life sustaining treatment included 34 statements obtained from literatures, TV debate, and depth interviews of 5 lawyers among the lawyers included. After listening to the purpose and method of the study, the 24 lawyers agreed to fill out a survey asking sociodemographic information, and the information was distributed in 9 scale Q-sample. RESULTS: The collected data were processed through QUANL PC program and sorted into 5 types as follows: The first type was 'Choosing to withdraw life sustaining treatment', the second 'Withholding life sustaining treatment' regardless of the cost, the third is neutral type that claims that humans have the right to decide the death and life, and demands the proper legalization to protect such rights, the fourth type agrees to withdrawal of life sustaining treatment, nevertheless, admits that one has a rigt to withhold one's own life treatment, categorized as self contradiction type. The fifth type believed that 'Life and death are providential' with the faith, therefore, such authority to decide life and death belongs to God, but not human beings. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, the lawyer's attitudes toward withdrawal of life sustaining treatment were grouped into five different types as follows: 'Choosing to withdraw life sustaining treatment', 'Withholding life sustaining treatment', 'Demanding legalization', 'Self contradiction type', and 'Life and death are providential'.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1996;37(10):1722-1729
Recently refractive corneal surgery has been increasing and intraocular lens implantation is a routine procedure during cataract surgery. Many people have various activities in the evening such as night driving, thus it may be very important measuring the pupil size in the dark in determining the size of the optical zone. We measured pupil size of sixty normal adult candidates in darkness of 0, 20, 60, 100 lux and also in the bright illumination of 200 lux for comparison using near lens camera and slide film. The pupils became larger with younger age and increased darkness. Pupil Size(log mm) = 4.57 - 0.0388 X Age(year) - 0.005 X Luminance(lux). The average pupil size of all age groups were 7.0mm, 6.56mm, 5.97mm, 5.4mm sequencially in darkness and 4.77mm in brightness(200 lux). The average pupil size of 20~30 year old group who are socially active even at night was 7.18mm and 8.4mm in maximum. This has significant meaning clinically. Additionally the size of pupil became larger with increased corneal diameter and the amount of anisocoria tended to be greater with the increase of the darkness.

Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2020;26(4):423-433
Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to describe the health care experiences among patients with Parkinson’s disease.
Methods:
Of the qualitative research methods, Colaizzi’s phenomenological method was used in this study. A total of nine patients, who were diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and receiving outpatient treatment, were selected as the subjects of this study. Subsequently, data were collected through individual in-depth interview.
Results:
The four categories obtained as a result were ‘strenuous efforts to control my own body,’ ‘subject of health that no one can replace,’ ‘focus on the current while expecting a breakthrough in health management,’ and ‘human dignity that cannot be lost to the end.’
Conclusion
The study results are expected to help health care providers deeply understand the experiences in health care among patients with Parkinson’s disease and to provide source data for nursing intervention development that can be helpful in managing the health status of patients with Parkinson’s disease.

The purpose of this clinical study was to evaluate the efficacy of RMI(risk of malignancy index) as a preoperative predictive screening method in ovarian tumors. The RMI was calculated by the following formula; -RMI=The ultrasonographic score(0, 1, or 3) x serum CA-125 level x menopausal status score(1 or 3). The preoperative RMI was obtained from 69 cases of ovarian tumors operated from July 1993 to March 1996 at the Dept. of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pusan Paik Hosp. Reviewing the histopathological diagnosis of surgical specimen, using RMI cut-off value of 200, the sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value of RMI was obtained and compared with CA-125 value and sonographic scores, respectively. The results obtained were as follows; 1. The sensitivity of RMI was 67.7%, it was lower than that of serum CA-125 value(74.0%) and ultrasonographic score(80.6%)(P=0.535). 2. The specificity of RMI was 100%, it was higher than that of serum CA-125 value(81.6 %) and ultrasonographic score(84.2%)(P=0.006). 3. The positive predictive value of RMI was 100%, it was higher than that of serum CA-125 value(76.7%) and ultrasonographic score(80.6%)(P=0.047). 4. The negative predictive value of RMI was 79.2%, it was lower than that of CA-125 value(79.5%) and ultraconographic score(84.2%)(P=0.83). In conclusion, the RMI could be a useful screening method to discriminate a benign from malignant ovarian tumors prior to operation.
