1.Time Course of UV - Induced Immune Suppression of DNCB Contact Hypersensitivity in Guinea Pigs.
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1984;22(6):626-630
The current experiment pursued the time course of UVB-induced immune suppression of DNCB contact hypersensitivity(CHS) in guinea pigs. Both group B and C, received suberythemal doses of UVB on days -3, -2, -1, 0 and -6, -5, -4, 3 respectively, showed marked suppressions of CHS (56.36p;and56.25p,). However, the recovery of CHS from the UVB-induced suppression started by group D(UVB on days -9, -8, -7, -6: 67. 36%) and further extended to subsequent group E(UVB on days -12, -11, -10, -9: 78.82%), Group F(UVB on days -15, -14, -13, -12: 79.86%) and the final group G(UVB on days -18, -17, -16, -15: 81. 94%) in which the recovery of CHS slightly exceeded the control (group A:79. 86%).

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1985;23(2):199-203
S.I. of TCSA PCH (group B) and musk ambrette PCH (group D) were respectively g3 49% and 75.00 S.I. of group A and B, which were only challenged with TCSA and musk ambrette respectively without prior sensitization, were 33, 33% and 27. 78%. These data indicated the TCSA PCH (group B) was experimentally produced in guinea pigs when it compared to musk ambrette PCH (group D) and controls (group A and C) (Table 1). However, S.I. of TCSA PCH was somewhat lower than index of musk ambrette PCH.

Microsportcm gypseum is a geophilic fungi abundant in soil throughout the world. The infections may occur either from animal to man(zoophilic) or from soil to man (geophilic). Patierit of 13-year-old Korean male sought medical attention with skin lesion on scalp which showed scaly patch with broken hairs and a round pilar cyst like nodule. Identification of Microsporum gypseum was made by culture on Sabouraud agar media and microscopic exarnination.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1995;36(2):301-306
Argon laser trabeculoplasty(ALT) is commonly used in the treatment of uncontrolled open angle glaucoma. The authors retrospectively reviewed the efficacy of ALT in 52 patients(57 eyes) with primary open angle glaucoma. The mean follow-up was 28 months(range 2-48 months). The decrease in intraocular pressure 10P) was 10.1 +/- 3.5 mmHg at 1 month, 8.2 +/- 2.8 mmHg at 1 year, 6.2 +/- 5.1 mmHg at 2 years and 51% at 3 years. Failure was most common in the first 6 months after treatment(29%) and thereafter failure occurred at a rate of 5% to 15% per year. The sex and age of patients had no significant effect on success rate. The success rate was high in the patients with baseline IOP of 26 to 30 mmHg. A mild iritis in all cases, transient rise in IOP, peripheral anterior synechia and microscopic hyphema were noted as early complications of ALT.

Urticaria pigmentosa developed in twins at the age of 6 weeks. They have numerous round to oval shaped, discrete or confluent reddish brown colored macules over whole body surface and neither twin had vomiting, diarrhea, flushing or irritability. Their relatives are unaffected. Biopsy specimen of. back lesion showed. pooling of mast cells in the upper dermis, and electron microscopic examinattion revealed normal mast cells.

7.Time course of contact hypersensitivity to DNFB and histologic findings in mice.
Journal of Korean Medical Science 1986;1(1):31-36
This experiment pursued the time course of contact hypersensitivity to 2,4-dinitro-1-fluorobenzene (DNFB) and histologic changes of the cutaneous reaction in mice. The contact hypersensitivity reached a maximum 4 days after sensitization (96.9 +/- 6.7% vs. 22.7 +/- 1.3% in control) and persisted for 3 weeks. The cutaneous hypersensitivity reaction showed peak reactivity at 24 hr after challenge (96.2 +/- 4.7% vs. 11.5 +/- 1.7% in control), and persisted up to 96 hr (13.2 +/- 2.1%). Prime histologic changes observed in this experiment were the exocytosis of lymphoid cells and epidermal thickening which appeared at 20 hr after challenge. Edema, vasodilatation and increased mast cells were observed within the dermis at 4-8 hr. However, edema and vasodilatation disappeared gradually, but numbers of mast cell increased up to 96 hr. The dermal infiltrates were maximum at the 28-72 hr after challenge.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1984;22(1):89-93
A 19-year-old man noticed a very slowly spreading erythematous macular lesion on his cheek when he was 5 years old. This asymptomatic and well circumscribed patch was covered with fine scales. He sought first medical attention at the age of 12 years and diagnosis was cutaneous tuberculosis was made by skin biopsy. Seven years after the second biopsy was made and it revealed a few spores within giant cells in the upper dermis. By mycologic study, it was identified as Paecilomyces lilacinus. The patient was put on the treatment of topical and oral antifungal agents. The skin lesion showed signs of improvement after 12 weeks of treatment.

Neuromyelitis optica(Devie's disease) is a demyelinating disorder of unknown etiology that is characterized by bilateral acute optic neuritis, associated with transverse myelitis. The authors experienced a case of Neuromyelitis optica in a 28 year old female who developed acute visual disturbance, sensory loss under the thoracic dermatome 8, and paraplegia, shortly after upper respiratory infection. Bilateral acute optic neuritis was noted with abnormal visually evoked potential. We confirmed this case by neurologic features, magnetic resonance imaging, and cerebrospinal fluid finding, and treated with Corticosteroid "pulse therapy".
