Chinese Journal of Rheumatology 2003;0(11):-
Objective To explore the effects of natural killer (NK) T cells activated by ?-galactosylceramide (?-GalCer) on (NZB?NZW) F1 mice (BWF1). Methods Forty BWF1 mice were divided into two groups (5th week group, 6th month group) according to the age when the treatment started. Mice were treated with ?-GalCer or vehicle by intraperitoneal injection of various dosages and therapeutic courses. The survival time and proteinuria were recorded. Mice blood were withdrawn before and every month after injection, and the collected sera were frozen for analysis of IgG anti-dsDNA, anti-cardiophospholipid antibodies (ACL) and rheumatoid factor (RF). Another ten mice′s blood were withdrown 2 h later after ?-GalCer or vehicle iv injection. Cytokines including IL-2, IFN-?, IL-4 and IL-10 were detected. Results Cytokines IL-2 and IFN-? secreted by Th1 were increased while cytokines IL-4 and IL-10 secreted by Th2 decreased in ?-GalCer iv injection mice. The level of IgG anti-dsDNA antibodies and RF increased with age in ?-GalCer treated mice which was lower than those of vehicle treated mice. No difference in survival rate and severe proteinuria (≥3+) rate was observed between ?-GalCer and vehicle treated BWFI mice in the two groups. Conclusion ?-GalCer may activate NKT cells and decrease some autoantibodies. NKT cells activation using ?-GalCer is not enough to improve proteinuria and survival rate.

Objective To evaluate the effect of enteral nutrition emulsion on the immunologic function and intestinal mucous barrier in diabetic patients. Methods Eighty diabetic patients were randomly divided into con-trol group (n=40) and enteral nutrition group (n=40). The urine lactulose (L) and mannitol (M) levels and the blood immunologic indicators recorded on day 1 and day 8. Results The L/M ratio was significantly lower in enteral nutrition group than in control group on day 1 and day 8 ( P < 0. 05 ). The IgG level was significantly higher in enteral nutrition group than in control group on day 8 ( P = 0. 02 ). Conclusion Enteral nutrition emulsion can decrease the permeability of intestinal mucous membrane and improve the immunologic function in diabetic pa-tients.

Journal of Environment and Health 1992;0(04):-
Objective To get knowledge of the air pollution situation inside the car caused by the automotive components and decorative materials and the major impacting factors, and to provide the basis for the development of the car air pollution control and countermeasures. Methods Thirty-five cars of different types and ages were selected from January to July 2008. The concentration of benzene series compounds, formaldehyde and TVOC was determined, a survey and analysis of air pollution inside the car was conducted. Results The results showed that the air pollution inside the new cars was serious, with the increase of the using time, the concentration of pollutants reduced. The amount of formaldehyde emission inside the cars was related to the age of the car, the formaldehyde pollution inside the new cars was the most serious in one year. The longer the car was closed, the higher the concentration of pollutants would be. Using perfume or smoking inside the car, car washing or painting could increase the TVOC concentration inside the car. However, after purification treatment, the concentration of air pollutants inside the new cars could significantly decrease. Conclusion The air pollution inside the new cars is so serious, for the health of passengers and drivers, the related standards for the control of the air pollution should be set as soon as possible.
