Allotransplantation with fetus parathyroids was performed in 4 cases of hypoparathyroidism after the grafts had been radiated with 6 Gy of 60Co and cultured in Balb/c nude rats for 14 davs.The recipients took 4 days of cyclosporine A(dose of 20～25mg·kg-1/d),one day preoperation and 3 days postoperation.The patients were followed up for 5～60 months.Traced observation on the patients'clinical symptoms and signs,the changes in the doses of Calcium and Vitamine D and in the levels of serum Calcium and parathyroid hormone was conducted to determine the grafts'survival.The results were satisfactory with all cases surviving for the follow-up period.It is considered that this method is much better than any we did previously.

Objective To assess the association of serum resistin,TNF-? and insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes mellitus.Methods 42 cases of T2DM and 40 cases of control were involved in the study.Their waist circumference(WC),the levels of fasting serum resistin,TNF-?,fasting blood glucose(FBG) and fasting insulin(FINS)were measured.Results The levels of serum resistin,TNF-? and Homa-IR in T2DM group were significantly higher than those in control group,while serum FINS level was significantly lower than that in control group[(11.76?2.72)vs(8.65?3.00)?g/L,P

Objective In order to select appropriate size of embolizing granules and to achieve complete embolization and good therapeutic effect, the diameters of thyroid arteries in Graves disease was measured. Methods Multiple slides of embolized thyroid tissues from superior pole, body and inferior pole of resected thyroid glands were made. After being embeded and stained, diameters of arteries in various parts of thyroid glands were measured with microscope calipers (Olympus). Results Average diameter capillary network of the thyroid body gland adjacent to superior, infreior artery was 0. 12-0. 25 mm, and the smallest one was 0. 04-0. 11 mm. The diameter of isthmus was 0. 130. 15 mm. The average diameter of superior and inferior artery was 2- 5. 5 mm and 3. 0- 3. 75 mm measured by using interventional angiography Conclusion According to the diameters of arteries which were measured, complete embolization and good therapeutic effect can be achieved.

The aim of this study is to determine whether seeded Dacron with autologous venous tissue fragments shows significant 6-keto-prostglandin F 1? (6 K PGF 1? )production after in vivo implantation.The Dacron grafts seeded with autologous venous fragments were implanted into the inferior vene cava(IVC)of the 13 canines as seeded group;and the control group (8 canines),in which grafts were only preclotted with fresh blood. Plasma 6 K PGF 1? and TXB 2 were assessed at different time.All of the specimens explanted at exsanguination were observed with light microscopy and sanning electron microscopy and the amounts of 6 K PGF 1? from the luminal surface were assessed using ridioimmunoassay. The results showed that the total patency rate of the explanted vessels was higher in seeded group (61.5%) than that in control group ( 25% ),and that endothelial cells lined the whole luminal surface of Dacron at the 14th day after operation in seeded group,but thrombus covered the surface of Dacron at the 14th day in control ones. The level of 6 K PGF 1? from plasma and the luminal surface of Dacron grafts in seeded group was higher,but the level of plasma TXB 2 was lower than that in control group. It can be concluded that seeding Dacron with autologous venous fragments makes a new endothelial lining possible at two weeks,and can release more 6 K PGF 1? and thus lead to an improved patency rate of canine IVC reconstructions,so the graft patency might be determined according to the changes of plasma 6 K PGF 1? and TXB 2 level.

Objective To study the management and curative effect of the thyroid cancer suspected clinically but with inconclusive frozen-section intraoperatively. Methods The clinical data of 29 consecutive cases of thyroid cancer suspected clinically but with inconclusive frozen-section intraoperatively admitted to our hospital during Jan 1980 to Dec 1999 were analyzed retrospectively. Results Among these 31 suspected patients 29 were negative on frozen-section but confirmed thyroid cancer on postoperative paraffin-section. 20 underwent total involved lobe thyroidectomy in one-stage and other 11 as a second stage. Objective:To investigate the related factors and clinical significance of peritoneal micrometastasis in patients with gastric carcinoma,providing theoretical basis for resection range。Methods:CK19,CK20 immunohistochemistry were performed on 62 patients' tissues taken from anterior lobe of transverse mesocolon,posterior wall of omental bursa,pancreatic capsule and rectovesical pouch or Douglas pouch during the operations,compared with HE staining and peritoneal lavage cytology(PLC).Results:No metastasis was found by HE staining.Peritoneal micrometastasis were found in 27 cases out of 62 by immunohistochemistry,and its positive rate was 43.55%,obviously higher than PLC(14.52%).The peritoneal micrometastasis of gastric carcinoma had relations with diameter of tumor,depth of infiltration,clinical stage,lymph node metastasis(P0.05).Conclusion:Immunohistochemistric measure of CK 19 and CK20 can be effective to detect the micrometastasis of gastric carcinoma,which is helpful to guide clinical staging and useful to provide evidence for accurate selection of operation and postoperative treatment.Routine detection of peritoneal micrometastasis should be taken in patients of advanced gastric carcinoma,especially with a large size of serosa invasion.Multiple spots sampling is helpful to improve the detection rate.Anterior lobe of transverse mesocolon and pancreatic capsule should be peeled,and radical resection of omental bursa should be considered as routine operation in these patients.

Objective To observe the preventive and therapeutic effects of the new process extracts ofTangwang Mingmu Granule on rats with diabetic retinopathy.Methods The best preparation process technology of drug extraction was improved and selected based on the traditional water decoction of Chinese medicine. The active ingredient of two processes were detected and compared by HPLC. In vitro and in vivo pharmacodynamic evaluation models were used to evaluate the drug effects and analyze its mechanism. MTT assay was used to analyze the inhibitory effects of extracts in the two processes on EA.hy 926 cell proliferation in vitro. The effects of two extracts on STZ induced rat diabetic microvascular disease and its related factors were observed by retinal slice staining and ELISA.Results Compared with the traditional process, the active ingredients of the extracts were improved by the new technology ofTangwang Mingmu Granule. The preparation process ofTangwang Mingmu Granule could significantly improve the diabetic rat retinal microvascular pathological state, and reduce the protein expression levels of angiogenesis related factors.Conclusion The new preparation process could effectively improve the active ingredients in the herbal extract. The extract of new technology showed a significantly effect on the diabetic rats in retinal microvascular pathology state. The mechanism may be related to the regulation of vascular cell adhesion molecules and inflammatory factors.

Objective:To evaluate the clinical efficacy of tendon-regulating manipulation plus kinesiotherapy in treating low back pain. Methods:Sixty patients were randomized into a treatment group and a control group by using the random number table, 30 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by tendon-regulating manipulation plus kinesiotherapy, while the control group was by the tendon-regulating manipulation alone. The lumbar lordosis was measured by X-ray (side view), the pain was evaluated by analgesy meter, the lumbar range of motion was by using goniometer, and the function was judged by Oswestry disability index (ODI) before and after treatment, and the therapeutic efficacy was also observed. Results:After treatment, the pain level was significantly reduced, lumbar lordosis was significantly increased, the lumbar range of motion was markedly improved, and the ODI score significantly dropped (allP<0.05) in both groups; the improvement of each item in the treatment group was more significant than that in the control group (allP<0.05). The total effective rate was 90.0% in the treatment group versus 63.3% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion:In the treatment of low back pain, tendon-regulating manipulation plus kinesiotherapy can mitigate topical pain, improve the motion of low back, enhance the quality of life, and produce a more significant therapeutic efficacy compared to tendon-regulating manipulation alone.

Concurrent Graves' disease and primary hyperparathyroidism in the same patient is rare, probably accounts for hypercalcemia in no more than 1 percent of thyrotoxic patients. Hypercalcemia may be noted during the course of hyperthyroidism in as many as 22 percent of cases. The cause of hypercalcemia in a thyrotoxic patient might be due to the activation of osteoclastic bone resorption by the excess thyroid hormone, as the severity of hyperthyroidism correlates positively with osteoclastic activity in trabecular and cortical bone. In 1936, Noble JF et al reported the first case in the world. To our knowledge, only 49 such cases have been described in the literature until the year of 1989. No case has been reported again afterward. The occurrence of hypercalcemia in a patient with hyperthyroidism may present a challenging diagnostic problem. In this communication, we described the first case in mainland of China with hypercalcemia caused by concurrent hyperthyroidism and primary hyperparathyroidism, and the clinical and laboratory characteristics were studied before and after therapy with anti-thyroid medication.
