Objective To study the impacts of quality of life, stress response and sources of stress on mental health of community residents. Methods A total of 703 questionnaires completed by community residents living in Hangzhou and Cangzhou were prospectively collected. All the subjects were assigned o five age groups:18-25 years old group,26-35 years old group,36-50 years old group,51-64 years old group and ≥65 years old group.Psychological health status was compared between the groups by using analysis of variance. Results Significant difference in mental health was found among 5 age groups.Correlation analysis showed that quality of life, stress response and sources of stress had significant effects on mental health. Conclusion Our data suggest significant impacts of quality of life and stress on mental health of community residents.

Disasters are traumatic events that are always incongruent with our existing cognitive structures. Immediate negative psychological impact and traumatic related psychiatric disorders are popular among survivals involving the disasters. Super-half of survivals involving the "5" 12" Wenchuan earthquake experienced the symptoms of anxiety or increased arousal. 12.59% of survivals were met with the ASD diagnosis. 21.29% of adults and 10.21% of adolescents were met with the PTSD diagnosis 5 months after the major earthquake. Immediately negative psychological impact and high prevalence of traumatic related psychiatric disorders among survivals were confirmed.More effort should be paid on the disaster related patients in emergency department with psychiatric issues. Also, the long-term psychological service is necessary for Sichuan Pest-Disaster Reconstruction Projects.

Objective To compare the health related quality of life (HRQoL) of ileal conduit versus orthotopic ileal neobladder using the FACT-BL scale. Methods One hundred and thirty patients underwent radical cystectomy and urinary diversion for invasive bladder cancer from Jan 2006 to Dec 2010 at our hospital.According to different urinary diversions, patients were divided into ileal conduit (IC) and orthotopic ileal neobladder (NB).HRQoL was assessed using FACT-BL.The following scores calculated from the FACT-BL questionnaire and list:physical well-being ( PWB ),social/family well-being ( SWB ),emotional well-being(EWB),functional well-being( FWB),overall bladder-special subscale and total FACT-BL were included.A high FACT score indicated a high level of HRQoL.The medical records of each patient were then reviewed.Clinical parameters including age, sex, type of diversion and pathological status were recorded and analyzed. Results A total of 94 questionnaires were collected,of these patients 50 had an IC and 44 had an NB.Among the respondents, the age at surgery was significantly younger in NB group than IC group (P =0.014 ).While the percent of males,follow-up years and pathological stage T3 or greater revealed no significant difference. The NB group got significantly higher scores in PWB,SWB,EWB and FACT-BL than the IC group.Which indicated that the HRQoL was higher in patients following orthotopic ileal neobladder. Conclusions The HRQoL was better in patients who followed orthotopic ileal neobladder than those who followed ileal conduit. This may indicate that orthotopic ileal neobladder should be considered first when making a decision about which urinary diversion should be used.

Background 5-hydroxytryptamine 2A receptor (5-HT2A) gene has been regarded as a candidate gene for susceptibility to schizophrenia. In particular, the 5-HT2A receptor has received much attention because it demonstrates to be an important site of action of atypical antipsychotic agents to alleviate negative symptoms. The current study investigated whether the 5-hydroxytryptamine 2A receptor (5-HT2A) gene T102C polymorphism was associated with treatment response to risperidone in the first episode Chinese patients with schizophrenia. Methods 201 first episode Chinese Han patients with schizophrenia were given risperidone for up to 56 days.Genotyping of 5-HT2A gene T102C polymorphism were performed by using PCR-RFLP. The Positive and Negative Symptom Scale (PANSS) was used for the evaluation of the severity of psychotic symptoms before and after 8 weeks treatment with risperidone. Results 5-HT2A receptor 102 -T/T genotype was significantly associated with both the PANSS total and negative syndrome subscale scores before treatment, and with the reduction rates in both the PANSS total and negative syndrome subscale scores after eight weeks risperidone treatment. Conclusions The results suggest that 5-HT2A T102C A/A1 genotype subgroup influences individual response to risperidone in first-episode Chinese patients with schizophrenia.

Objective To analyze the relationship of serum S100 calcium binding protein A4(S100A4)and pentraxin-3(PTX3)levels with left atrial appendage thrombosis in patients with NVAF.Methods A total of 120 elderly NVAF patients treated in our hospital from March 2020 to March 2023 were enrolled in this study.According to their echocardiograms, they were divided into a left atrial appendage thrombosis group(40 cases)and a non-thrombosis group(80 cases).Serum S100A4 and PTX3 levels were detected.Spearman correlation analysis was applied to ana-lyze the relationship between serum S100A4 and PTX3 levels and left atrial appendage thrombo-sis.Logistic regression analysis was conducted to analyze the factors affecting left atrial appendage thrombosis. Results The serum levels of S100A4 and PTX3 were higher in the thrombosis group than the non-thrombosis group(P<0.01).The serum levels of S100A4 and PTX3 were positively correlated with left atrial appendage thrombosis(r=0.497,P=0.000;r=0.555,P=0.000).Heart failure,CHA2DS2-VASc score,B-type natriuretic peptide, uric acid,S100A4 and PTX3 were risk factors for left atrial appendage thrombosis in NVAF patients(P<0.05,P<0.01).Combination of serum S100A4 and PTX3 in predicting left atrial appendage thrombosis formation in NVAF patients had an AUC value of of 0.949(95%CI:0.893-0.981).Conclusion Serum S100A4 and PTX3 levels are increased in NVAF patients, they are related to left atrial appendage thrombosis, and their serum levels have certain predictive value for left atrial appendage thrombosis.
