Small knife needle plus manual reduction method was used to treat the transverse process syndrome of the third lumbar vertebra. The small knife needle was adopted to loosen the third vertebra with little invasion and manual reduction method to remove adhesion by pulling back and forth. Among 859 cases treated, 652 cases were cured and 196 cases improved, with the total effective rate of 98.8%. It is indicated that small knife needle plus manual reduction method has positive effects on the transverse process syndrome of the third lumbar vertebra as well as other soft tissues injury.

It is important in clinical practice to identify the types of serum free light chain (FLC),especially to measure the concentration of serum FLC.The serum FLC assay in combination with other serum protein analysis are very valuable in the diagnosis,monitor,and response evaluation of patients with plasma cell disorders(PCD).The methods progress of the measurement of serum FLC and clinical application in diagnosis and evaluation of treatment are reviewed.

BACKGROUND:The use of bio-membrane guided bone regeneration in maxilary sinus augmentation is a research hotspot in implantology at present. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the osteogenic effect of guided bone regeneration in maxilary sinus augmentation using colagen membranes. METHODS:The first maxilary molars of nine adult female beagle dogs were extracted and ful-thickness flap was reflected bilateraly, then the sinus floors were lifted with simultaneous implantation. Bio-Oss was placed into the new space under the sinus membrane. On the experimental side in each dog, the bio-membrane covered the osteotomy window. On the control side, the flap was sutured directly, and was not covered by bio-membrane. Two animals were sacrificed at 4, 12, and 24 weeks after surgery, respectively. Gross observation, biomechanical testing and histological examinations were performed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: In gross view, new bone formation was observed in al maxilary sinuses. The pul-out force increased with time. At week 24, a significant difference in the pul-out force was noted between the two groups (P < 0.05). Histomorphbomatrical analysis showed much more new caluses at the experimental group than the control group at weeks 12 and 24 after surgery (P < 0.05). The bio-membrane guided bone regeneration has a better effect on new bone formation in the sinus augmentation.

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of general balance therapy in treating cervical spondylosis of nerve root type.Method Totally 120 patients with cervical spondylosis of nerve root type were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 60 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by general balance therapy (balance needling plus balance tuina manipulations), while the control group was by ordinary acupuncture and tuina manipulations. The cervical movement ranges were observed before and after the treatment, and the clinical efficacies were compared between the two groups. Result The cervical movement ranges (forward flexion, backward extension, lateral flexion, and turning range) were significantly changed in both groups after the treatment (P<0.05). The cervical movement ranges of the treatment group were significantly different from that of the control group (P<0.05). The total effective rate was 95.0% in the treatment group versus 85.0% in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.01).Conclusion General balance therapy is an effective method in treating cervical spondylosis of nerve root type.

Objective To discuss the feasibility of open heart operation on beating in the congenital heart diseases.Method This kind of operation was put to use in 181 cases of the congenitalheart diseases in order to observe the effects of myocardial protection, prevention from air embolism,et al.Results Operation field exposure was clear enough to finish the manipulation. All but one case was uneventiful postoperatively,especially without air embolism. Conclusion Open heart operation on beating with slight hypothermia is highly feasible in the common congenital heart diseases.

Objective To explore the microneurosurgical treatment of recurrent intra-spinal canal tumors. Methods The clinical data on the microsurgical parameters, operative procedures, operative efficacy and post-operative complications of 16 cases with recurrent intra-spinal canal tumors from June 1993 to June 2002 were reviewed retrospectively. Results Under the operative microscope, the tumors were totally removed in 10 cases, subtotally in 4 cases, and partially in 2 cases. Fllowed up from 5 months to 8 years, 11 cases recovered well, 4 cases suffered from moderate disability, and 1 case died. Preoperative CT or MRI scan, knowledge of the anatomy and structures, and skillful operative techinique all were important to microsurgical treatment of recurrent intra-spinal canal tumors. Conclusion Once diagnosis of recurrent intra-spinal canal tumors, the operative treatment is effective. Radiation therapy for the malignant tumors or incompletely removed recurrent tumors is necessary.

Objective To investigate the effects of oral recombinant attenuated Salmonella ophimurium urease B subunit and catalase in the treatmeat of H.pylori infection in a H.pylori infected mouse model. Methods Thirty C57BL/6 mice were randomized into three groups and challenged twice by oral administration of H.pylori in three days. Four weeks after the second challenge, the mice were immunized by oral administration of recombinant attenuated Salmonella typhimurium urease B subunit (group A), recombinant attenuated Salmonella typhimurium catalase (group B), or saline (group C) respectively, and all mice were sacrificed 4 weeks after the immunization. The stomachs were collected for rapid urease test, modified Giemsa stain and quantitative culture to observe the gastric H.pylori densities, and HE stain was performed to assess the presence of inflammation. Lymph cells from the spleens were served for lymphoproliferation assay. Results Gastric H.pylori densities of group A, B and C were 1.58?10 5 CFU/g, 4.88?10 5 CFU/g and 1.92?10 6CFU/g respectively. AIM: To study the effect of CPUE1 on the reversal of multidrug resistance (MDR) in K562/A02 cells and its mechanism. METHODS: MTT assay was used to determine the influence of CPUE1 on the cytotoxicity of vincrisine (VCR) in K562/A02 cells. The effect of CPUE1 on the apoptosis induced by VCR in K562/A02 cells was detected using DNA analysis and Annexin-Ⅴ/PI double stain assay. Flow cytometry was used to investigate the efflux of rhodamine123 (Rh123) by P-glycoprotein (P-gp) in K562/A02 cells. RESULTS: CPUE1 increased the cytotoxicity and apoptosis induced by VCR in K562/A02 cells. At the concentration of 10 ?mol?L -1 ,CPUE1 reduced the IC_ 50 value of VCR from 60.54 to 4.17 ?mol?L -1 . CPUE1 inhibited the efflux of Rh123 and resulted in the increase of intracellular accumulation of Rh123 in K562/A02 cells. CONCLUSION: CPUE1 has strong reversal effect on MDR in K562/A02 cells by inhibiting P-gp activity.

BACKGROUND:Old femoral neck fractures with senile osteoporosis have more surgical difficulties.There are a lot of intraoperative and postoperative complications and long-term effects are poor.OBJECTIVE:To explore the clinical outcomes of hip arthroplasty in patients with old femoral neck fractures with senile osteoporosis.METHODS:From October 2012 to July 2014,20 patients with old femoral neck fractures and senile osteoporosis were enroled in this study.Posterolateral approach was used to perform hip arthroplasty.Of them,14 patients received primary total hip arthroplasty with biological prosthesis,and 6 patients were subjected to semi-hip arthroplasty with straight shank cylindrical renovated biological prosthesis.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The patients were folowed up for 3 to 24 months.Harris score was apparently increased after arthroplasty in patients with old femoral neck fractures and senile osteoporosis compared with pre-arthroplasty.Postoperative radiographs revealed that femoral stem biological fixation was good.Bone fixation was visible in radiographs at 3 months after arthroplasty.These findings suggested that old femoral neck fractures and senile osteoporosis could be treated with hip arthroplasty.To select the type of prosthesis and surgical methods according to the femoral calcar-medulary cavity ratio in patients with old femoral neck fractures and senile osteoporosis can effectively restore the function of hip joint.
