OBJECTIVE To investigate the relation of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression with cervical lymph metastases in papillary thyroid carcinoma. METHODS The expression of COX-2 and VEGF in 79 specimens of papillary thyroid carcinoma were evaluated with SP immunohistochemical methods. In all the 79 cases, there were 46 cases with cervical lymph node metastases and 33 cases without cervical lymph node metastasis. RESULTS The positive expression rates of COX-2 and VEGF in the cases with cervical metastases were 81.6 % and 86.8 % respectively, and in the cases without cervical lymph metastases were 54.5 % and 66.7 % respectively. There was a significant difference in the positive expression rates of COX-2 and VEGF between two groups (P

Teaching competency is one of the basic skills for teachers to accomplish daily teaching routine. This article focused on issues like imbalanced development in teaching competency, young teachers' lack of solid basic teaching ability, teachers' weak research ability and their lack of research ability to support teaching process in local medical colleges. In theory it systematically explained the teachers' teaching competency structure.Through the implementation of three linkage training of university-faculty-teaching and research department, normalized and institutionalized training for teachers from teaching-hospital,cooperation between clinical and basic medicine teachers, teachers' basic teaching ability was improved. And by transforming teaching evaluation philosophy, setting teaching quality standards at different levels, strengthening teachers' teaching introspection, teachers' ability in teaching evaluation was increased.Besides,by delivering encouragement policy and project driven teachers were guided to upgrade research ability in order to reflect on teaching.

Higher education for the disabled is essential to education equality and social harmony,it represents the depth of society improvement and the level of social civilization.Inclusive education has develop from adopt physical disability into no discrimination at psychological level. This article explored 3 combination education mode (the disabled combined with the healthy, medicine combined with teaching, general stu.dies combined with the specialty) through education environment, education methods and education pathways using resources in medical colleges. This mode through no discrimination education environment for the disabled using medicine and teaching combination education methods to recover physical and psychological of the disabled, and using general studies combined with the specialty education pathways to train the disabled into a fully skilled person.

"Double-driven" teacher professional development is a transformation from a novice teacher to an expert teacher through both internal and external driving pathway based on education ecology and teacher encouragement theory. The internal driving pathway of teacher professional development includes socialist belief, professional conscience, and professional consciousness, while the external driving pathway includes standardized management system, school-based teaching and research activities, medicine-education cooperation, and campus positive culture.

School characteristics of local medical school are socially approved unique high-quality features generated through schooling, they are specific, integrated and local-serving. This study discussed the existing problems of local medical school concerning about the school characteristics, specifically the convergent melting of schooling, misunderstanding between advantages and characteristics, and valuing technology more than education. Through analyzing typical cases, this study investigated the formation path of school characteristics, specifically through continuous education reform to breed undergraduate education characteristics, through serving local economic development to facilitate service characteristics, through advantage subject to drive university development characteristics, and through innovations that keep pace with the times to demonstrate schooling characteristics.

Objective To investigate the application and effect of blended learning in epidemiology course. Methods The 83 nursing undergraduates in one class of grade 2016 were enrolled as experimental group and the 122 nursing undergraduates in another class were enrolled as control group. The undergraduates in the experimental group received blended learning in epidemiology course, and those in the control group received traditional teaching. An anonymous questionnaire survey was performed after the course ended, and the teaching effect was assessed based on the score of a non-standard answer examination and the degree of recognition of comprehensive ability cultivation.SPSS 18.0 was used for data analysis, and the t-test and the chi-square test were used for comparison of data between groups. Results The experimental group had a significantly higher total score than the control group [(85.55 ± 10.49) vs.(80.07 ± 9.47),t=3.897,P=0.000].Compared with the control group, the experimental group had a significantly higher degree of recognition of independent learning ability, cooperative ability, knowledge application, and problem-solving ability after blended learning (P<0.05).Conclusion Blended learning can be applied in epidemiology course, and its teaching effect is accepted by students.

TCM experimental teaching has a very important position in university training process, in which the laboratory standardized management and the strengthening of the teaching quality monitoring play important roles. According to the the experimental teaching reforms and requirements enacted in recent years by the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, Hunan TCM University has conducted a series of standardized management of exploration and practice in the laboratory.

Objective:To evaluate the effect of hyperthermia on radiation pneumonitis (RP) in elderly patients with esophageal cancer undergoing intensity-modulated radiotherapy (IMRT).Methods:Clinical data of 177 elderly esophageal cancer patients (aged ≥60 years) receiving IMRT in the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University and Yixing Cancer Hospital from August 1, 2017 to February 6, 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided into the hyperthermia and non-hyperthermia groups based on whether they received hyperthermia treatment. Patients in two groups received IMRT with 6 MV X-rays. Patients in the hyperthermia group underwent high-frequency hyperthermia within 1 h before radiation using the external thermotherapy device HG-2000Ⅲ (heating temperature: 41-43 ℃ for 40 min, twice a week). After adjusting for confounding factors between two groups using propensity score matching (PSM), the short-term effective rates between two groups were compared using Chi-square test. Univariate analysis and logistic multivariate analysis were employed to compare the incidence of RP between two groups. Results:After applying PSM, 42 pairs were successfully matched, and the baseline data and radiotherapy parameters showed no statistically significant differences between two groups (all P>0.05). The objective response rate (ORR) in the hyperthermia group was significantly higher than that in the non-hyperthermia group (83.3% vs. 64.3%, P=0.047). Univariate analysis revealed that the incidence of RP and symptomatic RP (≥ grade 2) in the hyperthermia group was significantly lower than that in the non-hyperthermia group (61.9% vs. 85.7%, P=0.013; 21.4% vs. 47.6%, P=0.012). Logistic multivariate analysis indicated that hyperthermia was an independent protective factor for symptomatic RP ( P=0.011). Conclusions:The incidence and severity of RP in elderly esophageal cancer patients receiving IMRT can be reduced by hyperthermia. Hyperthermia, as a clinically beneficial green treatment, improves efficacy and reduces toxicity for patients with esophageal cancer.
