1.Design and use of nursing records for family beds
Chinese Journal of Hospital Administration 1996;0(10):-
With the gradual standardization in the medical management of family beds, widespread attention has been given to the establishment of complete medical records for patients using family beds. To achieve genuine standardization, a set of new nursing records for family beds were designed in light of the features of family nursing. This set of records attaches importance to the assessment of the patients' daily life skills, family resources, and living environment. It is easy to use and gives expression to the independent and scientific nature of community nursing. The designed protocol for family nursing plays some role in safeguarding the interests of both physicians and patients.

Purpose:To study the role of ovarian cancer tumor suppressor genes (OCTSGs) and to determine the relationship between 3p loss of heterozygosity (LOH) and the pathogenesis of ovarian cancer. Methods:50 cases of epithelial ovarian tumor, including 40 cases with malignant tumors and 10 cases with benign tumors, were examined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with D3S1228 and D3S1038 microsatellite polymorphic markers at 3p. Results:Thirty two of the 40 cases (80%)with ovarian cancer showed either LOH at 3p14 or at 3p25, but only one of 10 cases (10.0%)with bengin ovarian tumor there occured 3p LOH. Among them, 24 cases (60.0%) had LOH at 3p14 and 16 cases (40.0%) at 3p25, as well as 8 cases (20.0%) there was co deletion on both at 3p14 and 3p25. According to FIGO staging, the rate of LOH at 3p in ovarian cancer patients with Ⅲa , Ⅲb was higher than that in patients with stage Ⅰ, Ⅱ ( P 0.05). Conclusions:Since 3p14 and 3p25 LOH are related to the staging of ovarian cancer as well as the common occurrence of 3p LOH in epithelial ovarian cancer, it is suggested that there are some candidate ovarian TSGs harbored at 3p regions and the detection of 3p LOHs may be used as a genetic marker for monitoring the development of ovarian cancer.

Objective To investigate the inhibition effects of nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB) on cytokine expression of cultured human corneal fibroblasts in vitro. Methods The cultured human corneal fibroblasts were used in the present experiment. Cell viability insensitive to emodin on cultured human corneal fibroblasts in vitro was assessed using the MTT assay.Cells were randomly divided into three groups:control group(group 0 hour,n=6),lipopolysaccharidel (LPS)group (n=24)and emodin pretreatment group(n=24). Cells of the emodin pretreatment group were incubated with emodin for 30 minutes before LPS challenged. The cultured human corneal fibroblasts were then challenged with LPS, the expression of interleukin-8(IL-8) mRNAs was detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction analysis (RT-PCR) and the proteins of IL-8 secreted from these cells were assessed by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA). Western blotting analysis was used for detecting the protein expression of inhibitor of nuclear factor-κB-α(IκB-α)induced by LPS.At the same time, the effects of emodin on these expressions were also assessed in fibroblasts. Results The concentration of emodin used in this study was safe to these cultured human corneal fibroblasts in vitro. Both the protein release and mRNA expression of IL-8 in corneal fibroblasts increased significantly after challenged with LPS, however, the protein level of IκB-α significantly decreased after treated with LPS. These results indicated that LPS could mediate the activation of NF-κB and upregulate the expression of cytokines in corneal fibroblasts. Pretreated with emodin 30 min before challenged with LPS, the activation of NF-κB induced by LPS was markedly inhibited, and the mRNA expression as well as protein release of IL-8 were also inhibited(P<0.01).Conclusion These results suggest that LPS takes part in the degeneration of IκB-α and the expression of IL-8 in cultured human corneal fibroblasts in vitro. Emodin, an active component from the rhizome of Rheum palmatum, can inhibit the activation of NF-κB via decreasing this degeneration, which results in suppressing LPS-induced cytokine release from cultured human corneal fibroblasts.

OBJECTIVETo develop a non-pharmacotherapy program for patients with hyperlipidemia and assess its effectiveness.
METHODSA cluster control trial was used. The experimental group was given non-pharmacotherapy for hyperlipidemia once a week for 6 weeks; the content of non-pharmacotherapy included the basic knowledge about hyperlipidemia, a guide of changing unhealthy diet and life-style. Patients were followed for once every two weeks in the department of out-patient. The control group received general care conducted by university clinicians, without the non-pharmacotherapy program. A self-completion questionnaire on hyperlipidemia-related knowledge level, questionnaires on diet and exercise, body weight, body height and the serum TG, TC were measured at entry point and at the end of 6 month.
RESULTSOne hundred and fifty-four patients in experimental group and 150 patients in control group completed the study. The non-pharmacotherapy group showed a significant increase of knowledge on hyperlipidemia in the experimental group comparing with the control group: the mean (sd) score of hyperlipidemia-related knowledge were 22.5 (4.8), 17.4 (4.2) (95% CI: 4.1, 6.1). The diet score and the proportion of regular physical activity had increased 27.20%, 21.78% respectively in experimental group. The mean (sd) of serum TG, TC and body mass index (BMI) for experimental group [2.0 (0.9) mmol/L, 5.4 (0.9) mmol/L, 23.4 (1.9)] lowered significantly comparing to those for control group [2.4 (0.9) mmol/L, 5.9 (1.0) mmol/L, 24.2 (3.0)].
CONCLUSIONNon-pharmacotherapy seemed to be an important intervention for the patients with hyperlipidemia. If same patients with hyperlipidemia failed to respond to non-pharmacotherapy, it is necessary to use pharmacotherapy. However, non-pharmacotherapy should be viewed as basic therapy.
