TNF gene was transfected into murine LAK cells by retrovirus. Our results showed that TNF gene-transfected LAK cells secreted TNF more than normal LAK cells and control gehe-transfected LAK cells. The in vitro growth ability and cytotoxicity of TNF gene-transfected LAK cells were augmented significantly.The cytotoxicity of ,TNF gene-transfected LAK cells was markedly inhibited by anti - TNF monoclonal antibody, indicating that the, above augmentation was mediated by TNF secreted by transfected LAK cells. Significant therapeutic effect on the ascitic liver carcinoma.-bearing mice was achieved by i.p. injection of low dosage TNF gene transfected LAK cells and IL - 2.

The plasma levels of calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) and endothelin (ET) were assayed in 76 patients with diabetic nephropathy (DN) and 23 healthy subjects, and the changes of CGRP and ET levels after treatment with angiotensin Ⅱ receptor antagonist (ARBS) were observed. The results showed that CGRP level was increased and ET level decreased after treatment with ARBS, which seemed to delay the onset and development of DN.

Objective:To compare the effectiveness and safety of Dengzhanhuasu and Danshen Injection in the treatment of the patients with angina pectoris of coronary heart disease with Meta-analysis, and to provide basis for their application in clinic.Methods:Computer search was performed using Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trial,Ovid-medline,EMBASE,PubMed,CNKI,Wanfang,VIP and CBM,and the literatures about the effectiveness and safety of Dengzhanhuasu and Dansheng Injection in the treatment of the patients with angina pectonis of coronary heart disease were obtained.According to the principle of selection and elimination, the literatures were selected, and the qualities of literatures were evaluated.The related data were extracted from the literatures.RevMan 5.3 software was used to extract the data for Meta-analysis.Results:A total of 167 literatures were retrieved, and 8 randomlized-controlled studies were selected according to the selection criteria.The evaluation results of the effectiveness of angina pectoris according to symptom showed that χ2=2.62,df=7,P=0.92,Z=6.85 (P<0.000 01), 95%CI:2.73-6.10. The evaluation of the effectiveness of angina pectoris according to electrocardiogram,χ2=6.37,df=7,P=0.50,Z=6.37(P=0.000 01),95%CI:1.94-3.49.The results of Meta-analysis showed that there were significant differences in the relief of symptoms and improvement of the electrocardiogram efficacy between Dengzhanhuasu and Danshen Injection in the treatment of angina pectoris of coronary heart disease (P<0.05).Conclusion:Dengzhanhuasu has better effectiveness in the treatment of the patients with unstable angina than Dansheng Injection and they have the same safety.

Peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMNC) isolated from patients with acute leukemia (AL) and from normal controls were cultured in medium containing 1000 units/ml of recombinant interleukin 2 (IL-2). Marked LAK activity was induced on the third culture day in the normal controls,, with the highest cytotoxicity appearing between day 3 and 5 whereas induction of LAK activity in the AL patients began on the 5th day of culture, with the peak level appearing at day 15, showing that the peak of LAK activity was significantly delayed in AL. LAK cells surface phenotyping tests showed that CD8+ and CD16+ positive cells began to increase significantly from day 5 and reached the highest level at week 3, whereas CD4+ subclass began to decrease on day 5 and dropped to the nadir at week 3. The proportion of CD8+ and CD16+ cells were positively cor related with LAK activity, but, that of the CD4+ cell was inversely related with the LAK activity.

Objective To investigate the clinical features of anterior pituitary hypofunction.Methods A retrospective analysis was carried out on the data of 117 patients with anterior pituitary hypofunction during 1994-2010.Results There were 60.68％ male and 39.32％ female patients respectively.The onset age was from 13 to 79 years,with 79.12％ of the patients more than 40 years old.There were 57 cases with sellar tumors ( 40.17％ ),in which 55 cases( 96.49％ )were operated and (or) treated with radiotherapy.35 cases were operated via the frontal approaches( 66.04％ ) and 18 cases underwent transsphenoidal surgery ( 33.96％ ).There were 108 cases with hyponatremia with the first symptoms of weakness,anorexia,nausea,and vomiting induced by ACTH deficiency (92.31％ ).There were 23 cases accompanied with central diabetes insipidus( 19.66％ )and 82 cases with coronary heart disease( 70.09％ ).Conclusion Owing to the difference in etiological factors,the incidence,early symptoms,and the hormones involved are greatly different.The main cause is pituitary tumor,which occured more in aged person,more in males than females.

A retrospective analysis was carried out in 220 cases of nonfunctional pituitary adenoma (NFA).The diagnosis was based on negative immunohistochemical staining,no elevation of plasma hormone level,and no symptom caused by increased hormone level.Incidence of NFA was the highest(33.13％) among the pituitary tumors.It was more common in males than in females (132 ∶ 88).The highest prevalence resided in the elder group.N FA often caused pituitary apoplexy,and mainly presented as compression symptoms including visual field abnormalities (85.00％),headache (80％),hypopsia (68.66％),and other symptoms of hypopituitarism (44.04％).Imaging features showed tumor size usually within 2-4 cm (71.82％),and aggregated degree Ⅲ or Ⅳ (83.64％).

Objective:To study the relationship between HLA-DRB1 gene polymorphisms and macrovascular complication of type 2 diabetics. Methods:HLA-DRB1 alleles in 88 cases of type 2 diabetics, including 52 ones without complication and 36 ones with macrovascular complication, were examined by PCR-SSP. Results:There were at least 11 HLA-DRB1 alleles in type 2 diabetics. The HLA-DRB1 *03 and HLA-DRB1 *09012 gene frequencies of type 2 diabetics with macrovascular complication were significant higher than those without complication.Conclusion:HLA-DRB1 *03 and HLA-DRB1 *09012 alleles or their linkage disequilibrium genes may enhance the risk of the development of type 2 diabetes macrovascular complication.

Current therapies for myocardial infarction and congestive heart failure are limited in efficacy or in applicability. The plasticity of adult stem cells and cellular transplantation offer a novel therapeutic approach to improve cardiac function. This review describes the latest progress in research, summarizes recent studies of adult stem cells and their application in myocardial regenerative medicine in China and abroad, and discusses the future directions of cell transplantation as a new therapy to repair injured hearts. AIM:To investigate the mechanism of lipotoxicity-associated apoptosis mediated by mitochondrial pathway in pancreatic β-cells. METHODS:The pancreatic β-cell line MIN6 cells were incubated respectively in serum-free DMEM medium with or without palmitate (0.1-0.5 mmol/L) for 24 h,followed by Hoechst 33258 staining. The activity of caspase 3 was assayed for determining apoptosis,transmission electron microscope was used for observing mitochondrial structure,and RT-PCR analysis was applied for detection of mRNA expression of bcl-2-associated X protein (bax),B-cell lymphoma 2 (bcl-2),sterol regulatory element binding transcription factor 1c (SREBP1c) and DNA-damage inducible transcript 3 (chop-10). RESULTS:Palmitate induced apoptosis of MIN6 cells and swelling of mitochondria. Palmitate also inhibited mRNA expression of bcl-2,whereas enhanced mRNA expression of bax,SREBP1c and chop-10. CONCLUSION:Palmitate induces apoptosis of pancreatic β-cells by promoting mitochondrial dysfunction,which is associated with abnormal expressions of bax,bcl-2,SREBP1c and chop-10.
