1.Alteration of p38 MAPK activity in lung tissue in diabetic rats
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2000;0(11):-
AIM: To observe the pathologic changes in lung and the role of p38 MAPKinase signal pathways in pulmonary alteration in diabetic rats. METHODS: Diabetic rats were induced by intraperitoneally injected streptozotozin (STZ). After 4 weeks,we observed the pathologic changes in lungs, tested protein kinase C (PKC) activities by isotope in lungs of model rats, tested transforming growth factor (TGF-?_1) by Western blotting and immunohistochemical analysis, and determined the expression of p38 MAPKinase mRNA using in situ hybridization.RESULTS: After STZ administration for 4 weeks,we observed thickened pulmonary capillary basal lamina and increased number of fibre in Diabetes mellitus (DM) rats. TGF-?_1 levels,PKC and p38 MAPK activities were also found increased. CONCLUSION: The increased activities of TGF-?_1 and p38 MAPK suggeste that TGF-?_1 may play an important role in diabetic lung, and hyperglycemia-PKC-p38 MAPK signal pathways may be involved in the pathogenesis of diabetes.

Objective To explore the relationship between self-management behaviors and family function among elderly pa-tients with diabetes in community in order to provide evidence for community nursing of diabetes. Methods A total of 670 elderly patients with diabetes were selected with convenience sampling household survey method and investigated with the family Adapta-tion,Partnership,Growth,Affection,and Resolve(APGAR)and the Summary of Diabetes Self-Care Activities(SDSCA).Results The family functions total score of the elderly patients with diabetes in community was (6.95±2.91),the self-management behav-iors total score was (20.06±5.80),among the self-management behaviors the score for exercise was the highest and blood glucose monitoring was the lowest;family function had remarkable positive relation with the total score of self-management behaviors a-mong elderly patients with diabetes in community(r=0.156,P <0.05).Conclusion There is a correlation between the self-man-agement behaviors and family function, good family function is conducive to the improvement of self-management behaviors for the elderly patients with diabetes.

Objective To survey symptom occurrence degree of maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) patients, and its related factors, and to provide a basis for clinical symptom management. Methods A total of 142 MHD patients were selected with convenience sampling method from a hospital in Ningxia from July 2015 to September 2015 and investigated with the Dialysis Symptom Index ,the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and the family Adaptation,Partnership,Growth,Affection and Resolve(APGAR)Scale. Results The occurrence rate of various symptoms ranged from 53.5%to 92.3%. Fatigue(92.3%),itching(86.6%)and dry skin(85.9%)were the top three prevalent symptoms. Fatigue (30.3%),difficulty falling asleep (27.5%),hyposexuality (27.5%) and trouble in sleeping deeply(27.5%)were the most serious symptoms.Multivariate linear regression analysis showed that gender, nationality, sleep quality, combining with hypertension and arrhythmia had significant influence on the occurrence degree of symptom in MHD patients(P < 0.05). Conclusion Symptoms in MHD patients are preva-lent. Efficient symptom management should be performed to improve the quality of life of MHDpatients.

Objective Through investigation and analysis of nursing services and needs for community home visiting in Yinchuan city in order to improve the quality of nursing service. Methods Using cluster sampling method to collect 300 residents from five community for questionnaire investigation in Yinchuan city.Questionnaire included general situation and evaluation standard of home care patients and service quality satisfaction questionnaire of home care. Results The residents had different degree of nursing needs and differences existed in satisfaction degree with different project of community home visiting. Conclusions Community home visiting need is high, and further improvement of nursing service quality for community home visiting is needed in Yinchuan city.

Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(06):-
In order to identify virulence factors of the pathogen, the outer membrane proteins of virulent and avirulent strains of Riemerella anatipestifer were compared by a proteome analysis. Three protein spots differentially expressed between the two strains were observed by 2-DE gels, and were further analyzed using in gel tryptic digestion and peptide mass fingerprinting. Three proteins were identified. W1 was Hsp20, W2 and W3 were transposon. Although the exact role of these proteins has not been characterized, the exclusive expression in virulent strain may indicate that they play an important role in the pathogenesis of Riemerella anatipestifer infection. Although only two virulence factors identified, it opens a path to the further analysis of virulence factors of Riemerella anatipestifer.

Objectives To study the status of medical compliance and the reason of non-medical compliance behavior of the Hui diabetics. Methods 121 Hui diabetics were recruited by convenient sampling, investigated by medical compliance questionnaire and interviewed by open questions about the reason of non-medical compliance behavior (e.g. drug therapy, diet therapy, sports therapy, self monitoring and periodic review). Results The mean score of the medical compliance behaviors was (32.69±8.64), and the overall rate of non-medical compliance was 95.9%(116/121) in Hui diabetics. Arranged by the rate of non-medical compliance in descending order, the five dimensions of medical compliance behaviors were sports therapy, self monitoring, periodic review, diet therapy and drug therapy in turn. The reason of non-medical compliance behavior mainly included the cognition of treatment, the economic conditions, job, minority customs and religion. Conclusions Non-medical compliance behaviors existed in five major diabetes therapies in the Hui diabetics. The patients and their families should be educated and conducted individually according to their specific situation to improve the medical compliance behavior.

An isolated virulence Riemerella anatipestifer strain passaged 200 times on TSB agar were used for the virulent to avirulent conversion. The effects of passage on biological properties of outer membrane proteins (OMPs) were investigated using the virulent and avirulent strains. Transmission electron microscopy demonstrated that the avirulent strain produced lower amounts of outer membrane vesicles and the outer membrane decreased, the cytoplasmic appearance jumbled. The OMPs of the virulent strain agglutinated only in RA serotype 2 antisera, whereas the OMPs of the avirulent strain agglutinated in antisera of RA 1, 2, 10 and 11. SDS-PAGE Analysis showed the OMPs profiles of both strains were similar but the immunoblotting profiles were different. The protective immunity against Riemerella anatipestifer infection was investigated by immunizations with OMPs in ducks. ELISA results showed that the OMPs induced the production of antibodies in immunized ducks, but the OMPs of virulence strain induced higher antibody titers than the attenuated strain (P < 0.05). RA2 group showed significantly higher survival rates (100%) than RA200 group (0%) after challenged with the homologous virulent strain. The ompA gene of both stains were also amplified by PCR, nucleotide homology was 99.9%. In conclusion, OMPs of virulent RA strain are suitable candidates for vaccine development. Biological properties of OMPs undergoes significant changes during serial passage and suggest that vigilance should be used when extrapolating data obtained from the study of high-passage strains.
