Objective To analyze the multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT) enhanced findings in the patients with primary small intestinal stromal tumor(SIST),and to probe the relationship between the imaging findings and the pathologic risk in order to improve the diagnostic accuracy. Methods Thirty patients with primary SIST confirmed by surgical pathology were enrolled in this study.Characterization and compassion of the clinical manifestations and MSCT enhanced findings were carried out between the pathologic low-and high-risk groups.Furthermore, the relationship was analyzed between the enhanced findings and the pathologic risk. Results Among all 30 patients with primary SIST,the lesion was located at duodenum in 5 patients (16.7%),at jejunum in 16 (53.3%),and at ileum in 9 (30%).14 patients were classified in the low risk group with the lesion with the average length of (3.8±0.9) cm,and other 16 in the high-risk group with lesion with the average length of (7.0 ± 1.4) cm.There were no statistical differences between the low-and high-risk groups in CT value in plain and venous phase, and in added value in arterial, venous and delayed phases. However, the significantly differences were observed in CT value in arterial and delayed phases between two groups (P<0.05).Conclusion MSCT may effectively evaluate the pathologic risk of primary SIST.There are significant differences of the enhanced findings between the low and high-risk groups, which can provide important apreoperative classification for the therapy.

Objective To explore the diagnostic value of DTI for prostate cancer. Methods From October 2009 to December 2010,44 patients suspected of prostate cancer received MRI and DTI.The data of MRI and DTI were analyzed retrospectively.By histopathology, prostate cancer was proved in 16 patients, and benign prostatic hyperplasia ( BPH ) was proved in 28 patients.Differences in ADC and FA values between prostate cancer and BPH were compared by independent samples t test.Diagnostic accuracy of FA value and ADC value for prostate cancer was analyzed by using ROC curve, and the diagnostic threshold of FA value and ADC value for prostate cancer was determined. Results The mean FA value of the tumor regions and BPH were 0.308 +0.084 and 0.203 ±0.029,respectively.The mean ADC value of the tumor regions and BPH were (0.883 +0.192) × 10 -3 mm2/s and ( 1.408 ±0.130) × 10-3 mm2/s,respectively.There were statistically significant differences in ADC and FA values between tumor regions and BPH (t values were 4.833 and 10.779 respectively,P<0.01).The ADC value area under curve of ROC was 0.996 (95% CI was 0.984 to 1.007) ; the FA value area under curve of ROC was 0.904(95% CI was 0.812 to 0.996) ; Combined the FA and ADC value area under curve of ROC is 0.996(95% CI was 0.984to 1.007) ; Using the ADC value of 0.725 × 10 3 mm2/s as the ROC cut off point, the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity were 100.0% and 96.0%,respectively; Using the FA value of 0.311as the ROC cut off point, the diagnostic sensitivity and specificity was 100.0% and 68.7%,respectively.Conclusion DTI imaging can provide valuable information for prostate cancer diagnosis and differential diagnosis, and improve the diagnosis ability of prostate cancer.

Objective To study the effects of ?2-adrenergic receptor gene Arg16Gly polymorphism on blood lipid and apolipoprotein ratio and its role in blood lipid and apolipoprotein ratio mediated by high carbohydrate/low fat (HC/LF) diet in healthy young persons. Methods Fifty-six healthy young volunteers had regular diet for 7 d followed by HC/LF diet for 6 d.Twelve-hour fasting venous blood samples were collected on days 1,8 and 14 to measure blood lipid and apolipoprotein (apo) AI and B100 levels, and to calculate ratios of TG/HDL-C,log (TG/HDL-C),TC/HDL-C,LDL-C/HDL-C and apoAI/apoB100.DNA was isolated from genome.Arg16Gly polymorphism was analyzed by PCR-RFLP.Results No significant difference was found in the baseline lipid and apolipoprotein ratio in subjects with AA genotype and G carriers before and after regular or HC/LF diet. The ratios of TG/HDL-C (P=0.017),log (TG/HDL-C) (P=0.031),and apoAI/apoB100 (P=0.006) were significantly higher, while those of TC/HDL-C (P=0.001) and LDL-C/HDL-C (P

Objective To explore the value of DWI and ADC in differential diagnosis of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH)and prostatic cancer(PCa).Methods The data of 43 patients with BPH or PCa proven by histopathology were retrospectively reviewed. There were 21 patients with PCa and 22 patients with BPH.All of the patients were examined by DWI at 1.5T MRI.On the DWI,signal intensities in ROI were measured at the b value of 800 s/mm2 and 1 600 s/mm2 ,respectively. On the ADC map,ADC values in ROI were measured. The differences of the ADC values and the signal intensities of DWI were compared between the benign BPH and the PCa by using independent sample tGtest.Diagnostic efficiency of the signal intensity and the ADC value for PCa were analyzed by using ROC curve. Results There were statistically significant differences of the ADC values and the signal intensities of DWI at the b value of 800 s/mm2 and 1 600 s/mm2 between the BPH and the PCa (P<0.05).The ADC at the b value of 1 600 s/mm2 had the highest diagnostic efficiency, the DWI at the b value of 1 600 s/mm2 took a second place, and the DWI at the b value of 800 s/mm2 was worst. Conclusion DWI and ADC are helpful for the diagnosis of PCa,and ADC at b value of 600 s/mm2 has the highest diagnostic efficiency.

This study was designed to evaluate the gastroprotective activity of cirsilineol in hydrochloric acid (HCl)/ethanol-induced gastric ulcer model. Cirsilineol was administered at the doses of 20 and 40 mg/kg in HCl/ethanol-induced rats. The gastroprotective ability was verified by determining the ulcer score, total acidity, hemoglobin, inflammatory cytokines, lipid peroxides, and enzymatic antioxidants superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) in gastric tissue and serum biochemical analysis. The results showed a favorable increase in the hemoglobin level, antioxidant enzymes (SOD and CAT), restored electrochemical balance (carbon dioxide & anion gap) while a noticeable decrease in ulcer index, total acidity, lipid peroxides, inflammatory cytokines (interleukin-1 beta [IL-1β], IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor alpha) in rats treated with the cirsilineol. The serum biochemical analysis on liver markers (alkaline phosphatases, alanine aminotransferase, and aspartate aminotransferase), kidney markers (urea, creatinine, albumin, globulin, total protein), and lipid profile (triglyceride, high-density lipoprotein, total cholesterol) were attenuated by cirsilineol treatment in rats. Histopathology showed enhanced gastric protection and preserved the integrity of gastric mucosa upon cirsilineol administration. These results ultimately suggest that cirsilineol has gastroprotective effects that prevent the development of gastric ulcer.
